This paper proposes a gain scheduled control technique using time-delay for the nonlinear system with plant uncertainties and unexpected disturbances. The time delay-based gain scheduled control depends on a direct estimation of a function representing the effect of uncertainties. The information from the estimation is used to cancel the unknown dynamics and the unexpected disturbances simultaneously. The proposed estimation scheme with a finite convergence time is formulated in order to estimate the unknown scheduling variable variation. In other words, the time delay-based gain scheduled control uses the past observation of the system's response and the control input to directly modify the control actions rather than to adjust the controller gains or to identify system parameters. It has a simple structure so as to minimize the computational burden. The benefits of this proposed scheme are demonstrated in the simulation of an electromagnetic suspension system with plant uncertainties and external disturbances, and the proposed controller is compared with the conventional state feedback controller.
In this paper, we propose a Time Delay Traceback Scheme for the TDOA location estimation performance enhancement in NLOS environment and analyze the performance in various conditions. We place multiple readers in a square($300m{\times}300m$) searching area for reuse of received signal. Also, we use more active NLOS reader detection methode for NLOS error mitigation. when NLOS time delay 70 m, the number of the NLOS reader is 3 and the received sub-blinks number 3, proposed time delay trace-back scheme improve the RMSE about 16 m. From these results, we confirm that the proposed time delay traceback scheme is well-suited for the high precision location estimation to offer the location based service.
The delay on two-lane, Two-way roads is a very important factor which tends to cause relatively high driver loads and too much delay often leads to traffic accidents. In this study a generalized form of delay estimation model was developed based on constant slow moving vehicle speeds, 100% no-passing zone, and flat terrain highway sections. To validate the model, a comparison was made with John Morrall's SMV(Slow Moving Vehicle)model as well as with TWOPAS model. Also a sensitivity analysis was performed to check accuracy of the model. It was found that the model was easy to apply and yet provided reasonable results for experimental conditions specified in the study. It was recommended that speed calculation procedure of the model be improved by further studies, so that the effect of speed acceleration or deceleration according to highway geometries on delay could be analyzed more accurately.

QoS-support technology in networks is based on measuring QoS metrics which reflect a magnitude of stability and performance. The one-way delay measurement of the QoS metrics especially requires a guarantee of clock synchronization between end-to-end hosts. However, the hosts in networks have a relative or absolute difference in clock time by reason of clock offsets. flock skews and clock adjustments. In this paper, we present a theorem, methods and simulation results of one-way delay and clock offset estimations between end-to-end hosts. The proposed theorem is a relationship between one-way delay, one-way delay variation and round-trip time And we show that the estimation error is mathematically smaller than a quarter of round-trip time.
In this work, the delay time for groundwater recharge was estimated by comparing simulated recharges by means of SWAT(Soil and Water Assessment Tool) model and WTF(Water Table Fluctuation) method. The delay time for groundwater recharge means that the time when the water from rainfall travelled through vadose zone just after getting out of soil zone bottom. As measuring this delay time is almost impossible, we used to compare the estimated values from modeling(SWAT) and analytic method(WTF). The test site is Hancheon watershed which has 8 groundwater measurement stations. The results show that the altitude has a linear relationship with the estimated delay time values. To validate these results, we conducted corelation analysis between transformed groundwater levels and observed ones. The results showed that computed groundwater levels have good corelation($R^2$=0.97, 0.87, respectively). The estimated delay time would be used for the groundwater behaviour characteristics in vadose zone. As recharge rates vary according to the height, the delay time is thought to be an import variable for the proper groundwater recharge estimation.
In this paper, a method for estimation of external force on an end-effector using joint torque sensor is proposed. The method is based on portion of measure torque caused by external force. Due to noise in the torque measurement data from the torque sensor, a recursive least-square estimation algorithm is used to ensure a smoother estimation of the external force data. However it is inevitable to create a delay for the sensor to detect the external force. In order to reduce the delay, modified recursive least-square is proposed. The performance of the proposed estimation method is evaluated in an experiment on a developed six-degree-of-freedom robot. By using NI DAQ device and Labview, the robot control, data acquisition and The experimental results output are processed in real time. By using proposed modified RLS, the delay to estimate the external force with the RLS is reduced by 54.9%. As an experimental result, the difference of the actual external force and the estimated external force is 4.11% with an included angle of $5.04^{\circ}$ while in dynamic state. This result shows that this method allows joint torque sensors to be used instead of commonly used external sensory system such as F/T sensors.

A single snapshot data can only provide limited amount of information so that the rank of covariance matrix is not full, which is not adopted to complete the parameter estimation directly using the traditional super-resolution method. Aiming at solving the problem, a joint time delay and angle estimation using matrix pencil method based on information reconstruction vector for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal is proposed. Firstly, according to the channel frequency response vector of each array element, the algorithm reconstructs the vector data with delay and angle parameter information from both frequency and space dimensions. Then the enhanced data matrix for the extended array element is constructed, and the parameter vector of time delay and angle is estimated by the two-dimensional matrix pencil (2D MP) algorithm. Finally, the joint estimation of two-dimensional parameters is accomplished by the parameter pairing. The algorithm does not need a pseudo-spectral peak search, and the location of the target can be determined only by a single receiver, which can reduce the overhead of the positioning system. The theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the estimation accuracy of the proposed method in a single snapshot and low signal-to-noise ratio environment is much higher than that of Root Multiple Signal Classification algorithm (Root-MUSIC), and this method also achieves the higher estimation performance and efficiency with lower complexity cost compared to the one-dimensional matrix pencil algorithm.

This paper proposes a new method for delay time calculation in RLC interconnects. This method is simple, but precise. The proposed method can calculate delay time of RLC interconnects by simple numerical formula calculation without complex moment calculation using reduced model in RLC interconnects. The results using the proposed method for RLC circuits show that average relative error is within $10\%$ in comparison with HSPICE simulation results.
In this paper, we address a new time delay estimation method using third-order statistics and subband adaptive filtering to improve the accuracy of target detection for acoustic backscattered signals in a noise interference environment. Each reference and primary signals are decorrelated using the multiresolution analysis framework through a M-band discrete wavelet transform(M-DWT). Then noise effect can be reduced. Here, time delays are estimated iteratively in each subband using two different adaptation mechanisms that minimize the mean squared error (MSE) between the references and primary signal. More specifically, third-order cumulants and projection cross-correlation(PCC) criterion are utilized to achieve an effective SNR improvement for the time delay estimation.

An improved transition density propagation method for power estimation is proposed. The power estimation for the zero delay model is a proper criteria for the.lower boutldlIry for power consumption. A transition propagation method, including the zero delay model as a lower boundary for power stimation was studied. However, there were some redundancy factors in the process of transition density propagation. Hence this paper will explore the transition density propagation behavior to eliminate the redundancy factors and present theirriprQved estimation methodology for the signal transition density. The experiments show that the proposed method has comparably better estimation accuracy than the conventional methods.
