  • For the development of magneto rotational instability, which drives mass accretion in protoplanetary disks, sufficient ionization degree is needed. Cosmic rays are believed to be one of the dominant ionization sources for protoplanetary disk gas. In previous studies, ionization rates are computed by considering the effect of attenuation of the cosmic ray (CR) intensity as a function of column density in an unmagnetized cloud. However, in reality particles should sweep up larger column density to reach at the midplane of disk due to their gyromotion. In this study, we investigate the propagation of CR protons in a protoplanetary disk by solving transport and energy loss equations. We discuss the change in CR intensity due to magnetic field in a protoplanetary disk.

  • An improved voltage modulation method (VMM) was used to control the heat release and adsorption properties of the adsorbent. In this work, the voltage and flux modulation methods were considered under unified experimental conditions of dissociative surface ionization (SI) of polyatomic organic molecules, the criteria were found when under VMM conditions the current relaxation of SI carries information about the kinetic properties of thermal desorption of ionizable dissociation particles arriving on the surface of polyatomic molecules. Conditions were found under which the relaxation of the ionic current in the flux modulation method is determined by the kinetics of the heterogeneous dissociation reaction of the original polyatomic molecules. The values of the thermal desorption rate constant K+ and the activation energy E+ obtained with VMM for desorption of (CH3)2NCH+2 ions with m/z 58 by adsorption of imipramine and amitriptyline molecules agree well with each other and with the results for the desorption of the same ions by adsorption of other molecules. This confirms one of the basic conditions for the equilibrium process SI - the a degree (β coefficient) of the same particles SI on the same emitter surface is the same and does not depend on the way these particles are formed on the emitter surface.

  • This study was performed to investigate the utility of egg-shell calcium with calcium soak egg-shell in the vinegar. We compared examination eluted quantity with ionization rate in each condition. The results were as follows. 1 The degree of elution and ionization of calcium was proportional to the amount of vinegar and added acetic acid in the vinegar for elution. And ionization rate was the most high in case of 200 ml vinegar volume. 2. fluted quantity were increased in the rank order to 4$0^{\circ}C$ > 3$0^{\circ}C$ > 2$0^{\circ}C$ by temperature but the rank order of ionization of calcium was 3$0^{\circ}C$ > 2$0^{\circ}C$ > 4$0^{\circ}C$ by temperature. The occurrence of unacceptable flavor resulting from the immersion at 4$0^{\circ}C$ was another obstacle to adopt. 3. Eluted quantity and ionization rate of the egg-shell calcium were appeared excellent in case of the brewage vinegar at ventilation condition. The case of brown rice vinegar did not show a considerable difference, but eluted quantity and ionization rate were appeared the most excellent to the other sample. 4. The optimum condition for elution and ionization of the egg-shell calcium was appeared Immersing egg-shells in the brewed rice-bran vinegar at 3$0^{\circ}C$ for three days.

  • A teflon ionization modeling has been conducted to predict the performance of a PPT(Pulsed Plasma Thruster). One dimensional unsteady circuit model and Teflon ablation model were implemented. The Saha equation was adapted to predict the ionization of Carbon and Fluorine gas. The lumped circuit model including a resistance and a inductance model of a plasma was adapted to predict the magnitude of a discharge current. Numerical simulation results had good agreements with pervious research. The degree of current change according to PPT operating voltage was examined.

  • Lipids play important roles in biological systems; they store energy, play a structural role in the cell membrane, and are involved in cell growth, signal transduction, and apoptosis. Phospholipids (PLs) in particular have received attention in the medical and lipidomics research fields because of their involvement in human diseases such as diabetes, obesity, atherosclerosis, and many cancers associated with lipid metabolic disorders. Here I review experimental strategies for PL analysis based on nanoflow liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry (nLC-ESI-MSn). In particular, discussed are lipid extraction methods, nanoflow LC separation of PLs, effect of ionization modifiers on the ESI of PLs, influence of chain lengths and unsaturation degree of acyl chains of PLs on MS intensity, structural determination of the molecular structure of PLs and their oxidized products, and quantitative profiling of PLs from biological samples such as tissue, urine, and plasma in relation to cancer and coronary artery disease.

  • A series of measurements was peformed between KAERI and PNNL, U.S.A at KAERI secondary calibration laboratory to intercompare and verify the KAERI reference photon radiation fields by using air equivalent plastic walled ionization chambers, Different ionization chambers of two laboratories were used to determine the air kerma rate, free-in-air, at reference positions in the KAERI photon radiation fields, As the results, the agreement in the cross measurements between two laboratories was found to be within less than ${\pm}$ 3 %. This degree of consistency was considered to be encouraging, because each laboratory maintains independently its calibration traceablity with its national primary standard

  • An efficient process for recovery of calcium from the eggshell was developed and some organic acids were used in an attempt to enhance the degree of calcium ionization. Eggshell membrane was readily separated from crushed eggshell based on the differences in specific gravities. The conditions which allowed most efficient membrane removal were found to be 30 rpm of speed, 30 min of residence time and 0.08 of volume fraction. It took 3 hours for the eggshell powder prepared at $1000^{\circ}C$ to reach L value of 90 with the Hausner ratio being 1.43. The calcium ion concentrations were 990, 3500, 3900 and 4200 ppm in pure water, acetic acid, citric acid and lactic acid$(0.05{\sim}3%)$ aqueous solution, respectively. The degrees of ionization of calcium-citrate-malate complex(CCM), calcium-citric acid complex(CC) and calcium malic acid complex(CM) increased by 4 to 5 times compared to eggshell calcium powder.

  • Compositions of neutral lipid of the hazel nut (Corylus heterophylla Fischer var. thumbergii Blume, Betulaceae) produced in Korea were analyzed by thinchrography (Iatrosoan TH-10 type), which was equipped with a flame ionization detector. The neutral lipid components were nearly separated of the basis of their degree of unsaturation by employing the chromatography on silica gel sintered rod impregnated with 12.5% silver nitrate and it was noted that triglyceride was the major lipid components of Korean hazel nut. The triglyceride compositions were trilinolenin 10.63, trilinolein 18.01, triolein 42.24, tripalmitin 17.57 and tristearin 11.55% by thinchrographic analysis.

  • Problem of the diffuse radiation (DFR) transfer is solved exactly for pure hydrogen nebulae of uniform density, and accuracies of the on-the-spot (OTS) approximation are critically examined. For different values of density and spectral types of the central star, we have calculated the degree of ionization and the kinetic temperature of electrons as functions of distance from the central star, and compared them with the corresponding results of the OTS approximation. At most locations inside an HII region. the DFR ionizes considerable amount of hydrogen; therefore, the OTS approximation under-estimates the size of ionized regions. The exact treatment of the DFR transfer results in an about 10 to 20 percent increase in the classical $Str{\ddot{o}}mgren$ radius. The OTS approximation overestimates the local heating rate by raising the density of neutral hydogens. Consequently, it predicts higher values for the local electron temperature. The OTS approximation also exaggerates the dependence of electron temperature on density. When the hydrogen density is changed from $10/cm^3$ to $10^3/cm^3$ with an 06.5V star, the OTS approximation shows an about 3,000 K difference in the electron temperature, while the exact treatment of the DFR-transfer reduces the difference to about 1,000 K. The OTS approximation fails to demonstrate the brightening of the electron temperature close to the ionization boundary.

  • Purpose: IMRT quality assurance(Q.A) is consist of the absolute dosimetry using ionization chamber and relative dosimetry using the film. We have in general used 0.015 cc ionization chamber, because small size and measure the point dose. But this ionization chamber is too small to give an accurate measurement value. In this study, we have examined the degree of calculated to measured dose difference in intensity modulated radiotherapy(IMRT) based on the observed/expected ratio using various kinds of ion chambers, which were used for absolute dosimetry. Materials and Methods: we peformed the 6 cases of IMRT sliding-window method for head and neck cases. Radiation was delivered by using a Clinac 21EX unit(Varian, USA) generating a 6 MV x-ray beam, which is equipped with an integrated multileaf collimator. The dose rate for IMRT treatment is set to 300 MU/min. The ion chamber was located 5cm below the surface of phantom giving 100cm as a source-axis distance(SAD). The various types of ion chambers were used including 0.015cc(pin point type 31014, PTW. Germany), 0.125 cc(micro type 31002, PTW, Germany) and 0.6 cc(famer type 30002, PTW, Germany). The measurement point was carefully chosen to be located at low-gradient area. Results: The experimental results show that the average differences between plan value and measured value are ${\pm}0.91%$ for 0.015 cc pin point chamber, ${\pm}0.52%$ for 0.125 cc micro type chamber and ${\pm}0.76%$ for farmer type 0.6cc chamber. The 0.125 cc micro type chamber is appropriate size for dose measure in IMRT. Conclusion: IMRT Q.A is the important procedure. Based on the various types of ion chamber measurements, we have demonstrated that the dose discrepancy between calculated dose distribution and measured dose distribution for IMRT plans is dependent on the size of ion chambers. The reason is small size ionization chamber have the high signal-to-noise ratio and big size ionization chamber is not located accurate measurement point. Therefore our results suggest the 0.125 cc farmer type chamber is appropriate size for dose measure in IMRT.
