분위기 소결공정에 의한 ZnO 바리스터의 열화기구 연구 (The Study of Degradation Mechanism as ZnO Varistor with The Ambient Sintering-Process)

  • The relationship between the DC degradation characteristics of the ZnO varistor and the ambient sintering-process is investigated in this study. ZnO varistors made of Matsuoka's composition were fabricated by standard ceramic techniques. The ambient sintering-process is performed at the extraordinary electrical-furnace which is equipped with the vacuum system. The Gas of sintering process was oxygen, nitrogen, argon, air respectively. The microstructure of ZnO varistors be made use of SEM equipment. The condition of DC degradation tests were conducted at $115\pm2^{\circ}C$ for periods up to 13 h. Current-voltage analysis is used to determine nonlinear coefficients($\alpha$). Resistance-frequency and capacitance-frequency analysis are accomplished to the understanding of electrical properties as DC degradation test. From above analysis, it is found that the ZnO varistor sintered in oxygen atmosphere showed superior properties at the DC degradation test.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to estimate the lifetime of commercial passenger vehicles shock absorber using degradation test and data. Method: The degradation factor of shock absorber was determined to be a damping force using FMEA. Degradation test was performed on damping force under real world usage condition and analysed the degradation data. Results: To estimate the lifetime of shock absorber, a degradation model was developed and a numerical example was provided. Conclusion: Evaluation of the lifetime of commercial and military vehicles shock absorber will be possible by using the proposed degradation analysis method.

가속내구성 조건에 따른 건축용 유기계 단열재의 단열성능 변화 (Changes in Insulation Performance of Organic Insulating Materials for Building Construction by Accelerated Durability Test Conditions)

  • 현재 건축구조물에 사용되는 단열재의 단열성능은 초기성능을 기준으로 설계 시에만 반영하고 있으며, 장기 내구성 저하에 따른 단열성능 감소는 반영되고 있지 않다. 본 연구에서는 가속내구성 시험을 통해 단열재의 내구성 저하에 따른 단열성능 저하를 검토하였다. 연구결과, 발포폴리스티렌 단열재 비드법의 경우 표준환경 조건 및 실험실 가속 시험 조건에서는 경시변화에 따른 성능저하가 나타나지 않았으나, 동결 융해 시험 조건에는 성능이 저하하는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 압출법의 경우 동결 융해 시험 조건에서는 단열성능 저하가 작았지만, 경시변화 초기에 내부 가스의 방출로 급격한 성능저하를 나타내었다. 또한, 경질 폴리우레탄 폼 단열재의 경우 다른 단열재에 비해 초기 단열성능이 매우 뛰어났으나, 실험실 가속 시험조건 및 동결 융해 시험 조건에서는 성능이 다소 저하하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • The relationship between the DC degradation characteristics of the ZnO varistor and the ambient sintering-process is investigated in this study. The ambient sintering-process is performed at the extraordinary electrical-furnace which is equipped with the vacuum system. Gases used in sintering process were oxygen nitrogen argon and air. Using XRD and SEM the phase and microstructure of samples were analyzed respectively. The conditions of DC degradation tests were conducted at 115$\pm$2$^{\circ}C$ for 13 h. Current-voltage analysis is used to determine nonlinear coefficients($\alpha$). Frequency analysis are performed to understand electrical properties as DC degradation test. From above analysis it is found that the ZnO varistor sintered in oxygen atmosphere showed superior properties at the DC degradation test and degradation phenomenon of ZnO varistor is caused by the change of electrical properties in grain boundary. These results are in accordance with Gupta’s degradation model.

  • In case of developing new motor, many examinations was tested to decide a motor efficiency and reliability. To give reliability judgment, traction motor winding insulation was tested by electrical method after appling electrical, heat, mechanical, environmental stress. In this study, stator form-wound winding of traction motor in urban transit E.M.U was tested by accelerative thermal degradation test. Stator form-wound winding was tested on the accelerative degradation composed of heat, vibration, moisture, overvoltage and researched insulation resistance, dielectric loss, partial discharge for insulation degradation properties, evaluated withstand voltage. Degradation temperature was $230[^\circ{C}]$, $250[^\circ{C}]$, $270[^\circ{C}]$, for stator form-wound winding respectively. On the test results of accelerative thermal degradation, insulation properties were relied all temperature until 10 times and expected life was evaluated by the rule of reducing $10[^\circ{C}]$ life into halves. Expected life was 31.8 years. It is guaranteed insulation reliability because of exceeding 25 years life times as considering.

절단 방지용 방검소재의 가속수명시험 (Accelerated Life Test of Knife Protection Fabrics for Cut Resistance)

  • Purpose : UHMWPE (Ultra-high-molecular-weight-polyethylene) is one of the most widely used material in knife protection clothes because of high strength, elasticity, and light weight. The purpose of this study is to develop the accelerated life test method and predict the lifetime for the knife protection fabric composed by UHMWPE. Methods : In this study, degradation characteristics of UHMWPE fibers and knife protection fabric for cut resistance were evaluated under the hydrolysis and photo-degradation conditions. It was found out that the degradation rate of retained tensile strength was more significant in the photo-degradation than hydrolysis. Therefore, the failure time was determined as the time that the retained tensile strength in photo-degradation is less than 50%. Considering an acceleration factor for irradiance and exposure time, the lifetime was predicted from the calculated failure time. Results : As a result of the accelerated life test, the $B_{10}$ lifetime of knife protection fabric composed by UHMWPE fibers is estimated as 2.8 years for a 90% statistical confidence level. Conclusion: Since the lifetime is predicted by the view-point of radiant exposure in this study, there is a possibility that the estimated lifetime may differ from the actual lifetime. However, it is considered as an useful methodology to estimate the long-term lifetime of knife protection fabrics.

X20CrMoV121강과 2.25Cr1Mo강 용접부의 ASP 시험과 CVN 충격 시험의 상관관계에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Correlation between Advanced Small Punch Test and Charpy V-notch Test on X20CrMoV121 and 2.25Cr1Mo steels Weldment)

  • Charpy V-Notch test is commonly used to evaluate fracture toughness. However, since the region to be evaluated is limited to bulk material due to the specimen size required, individual evaluation of micro-structures on weldment is very difficult. In this study, ASP(Advanced Small Punch) test was carried out to evaluate material degradation and fracture toughness on the B.M, W.M and each micro-structures of HAZ for X20CrMoV121 and 2.25Cr1Mo steels with artificial aging time. In addition, to evaluate fracture toughness and material degradation of B.M and W.M of X20CrMoV121 steels with aging times, CVN (Charpy V-notch) test was performed. And then the correlation between ASP and CVN test on X20CrMoV121 steels was obtained. Furthermore, through this correlation, material degradation property of each micro-region of the HAZ in weldment, which was impossible to be evaluated by the CVN test, can be estimated and determined.

  • In order to develop the evaluation methods of degradation for the Ni-Cr-Mo-V steel, which is in use for turbine rotor in nuclear power plant, the degraded materials were prepared by simulated degradation methods. The result of impact test and fatigue crack growth test shows that the FATT(Fracture Appearance Transition Temperature) and fatigue crack growth rate increased with the increase of degradation. And the result of new electrochemical polarization test method was suggested for the evaluating FATT, fatigue crack growth exponent and coefficient C values based on the results of relationship between corrosion current density(Icorr) & FATT, and the m & C and Icorr.

Cryogenic Fracture Toughness Evaluation for Austenitic Stainless Steels by Means of Unloading Compliance Method

  • Most research to date concerning the cryogenic toughness of austenitic stainless steels has concentrated on the base metal and weld metal in weldments. The most severe problem faced on the conventional austenitic stainless steel is the thermal aging degradation such as sensitization and carbide induced embrittlement. In this paper, we investigate the cryogenic toughness degradation which can be occurred for austenitic stainless in welding. The test materials are austenitic stainless JN1, JJ1 and JK2 steels, which are materials recently developed for use in nuclear fusion apparatus at cryogenic temperature. The small punch(SP) test was conducted to detect similar isothermally aging condition with material degradation occurred in service welding. The single-specimen unloading compliance method was used to determine toughness degradation caused by thermal aging for austenitic stainless steels. In addition, we have investigated size effect on fracture toughness by using 20% side-grooved 0.5TCT specimens.

고질소계 강의 열처리재 및 용접부의 기계적성질 저하에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Degradation of Mechanical Properties in High Nitrogen Steel Following Heat Treatments and Welding)

  • The degradation of mechanical properties in the high nitrogen steel HN3 developed for nuclear fusion reactor has been evaluated quantitatively using the small punch(SP) test, X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis has also been conducted to identify carbides or nitrides precipitated on grain boundaries of the heat treated samples. Mechanical properties of the steel HN3 significantly decreased with increasing heat treatment time and temperature or with decreasing testing temperature. Combination of XRD and metallurgical observation, revealed that the material degradation in the thermally aged steel was caused by precipitation of carbides on the grain boundaries. While the weld metal showed the lowest mechanical properties among various microstructures in GTA weldments. By combining SP test and XRD analysis, cryogenic fracture behaviors and aging degradation for high nitrogen steel could be successfully evaluated in nondestructive manner.
