  • Semiconductor inspection equipment makes components using materials with insulating properties for functional inspection including current and voltage of semiconductor parts. A representative insulating material is plastic, and plastic is made of a component through an injection process using plastic pellet. When plastic pellets contain excessive moisture, problems such as performance degradation and product surface defects occur. To prevent this, pre-drying is essential, and the heat convective type is the most applied. However, the heat convective type has a problem of low consumption efficiency and a long drying time. Recently, many studies have been conducted on a drying method using microwaves due to high energy efficiency. In this paper, drying was performed using a microwave for drying PC pellets. Energy consumption and drying efficiency analyzed by set up an experimental apparatus of heat convective, microwave, and hybrid(heat convective + microwave) types. It was confirmed that energy consumption and drying efficiency were high when drying using microwaves, and it was confirmed that the hybrid method improved drying performance compared to the heat convective method. It is expected that the research results of this paper can be used as basic data for drying plastic pellets using microwave.

  • Radiation detection systems working at high count rates suffer from the overlapping of their output electric pulses, known as pulse pile-up phenomenon, resulting in spectrum distortion and degradation of the energy resolution. Pulse tail extrapolation is a pile-up correction method which tries to restore the shifted baseline of a piled-up pulse by extrapolating the overlapped part of its preceding pulse. This needs a mathematical model which is almost always nonlinear, fitted usually by a nonlinear least squares (NLS) technique. NLS is an iterative, potentially time-consuming method. The main idea of the present study is to replace the NLS technique by an integration-based non-iterative method (NIM) for pulse tail extrapolation by an exponential model. The idea of linear extrapolation, as another non-iterative method, is also investigated. Analysis of experimental data of a NaI(Tl) radiation detector shows that the proposed non-iterative method is able to provide a corrected spectrum quite similar with the NLS method, with a dramatically reduced computation time and complexity of the algorithm. The linear extrapolation approach suffers from a poor energy resolution and throughput rate in comparison with NIM and NLS techniques, but provides the shortest computation time.

  • Identification of the biochemical metabolic pathway for lignin decomposition and the responsible degradative enzymes is needed for the effective biotechnological valorization of lignin to renewable chemical products. In this study, we investigated the decomposition of kraft lignin by the soil bacterium Pseudomonas kribbensis CHA-19, a strain that can utilize kraft lignin and its main degradation metabolite, vanillic acid, as growth substrates. Gel permeation chromatography revealed that CHA-19 decomposed polymeric lignin and degraded dehydrodivanillin (a representative lignin model compound); however, the degradative enzyme(s) and mechanism were not identified. Quantitative polymerase chain reaction with mRNAs from CHA-19 cells induced in the presence of lignin showed that the putative genes coding for two laccase-like multicopper oxidases (LMCOs) and three dye-decolorizing peroxidases (DyPs) were upregulated by 2.0- to 7.9-fold compared with glucose-induced cells, which indicates possible cooperation with multiple enzymes for lignin decomposition. Computational homology analysis of the protein sequences of LMCOs and DyPs also predicted their roles in lignin decomposition. Based on the above data, CHA-19 appears to initiate oxidative lignin decomposition using multifunctional LMCOs and DyPs, producing smaller metabolites such as vanillic acid, which is further degraded via ortho- and meta-ring cleavage pathways. This study not only helps to better understand the role of bacteria in lignin decomposition and thus in terrestrial ecosystems, but also expands the biocatalytic toolbox with new bacterial cells and their degradative enzymes for lignin valorization.

  • The compliance of deep geological disposal facilities for high-level radioactive waste with safety objectives requires consideration of uncertainties owing to temporal changes in the disposal system. A comprehensive review and analysis of the characteristics of this evolution should be undertaken to identify the effects on multiple barriers and the biosphere. We analyzed the evolution of the buffer, backfill, plug, and closure regions during the early phase of the post-closure period as part of a long-term performance assessment for an operating license application for a deep geological repository in Finland. Degradation mechanisms generally expected in engineered barriers were considered, and long-term evolution features were examined for use in performance assessments. The importance of evolution features was classified into six categories based on the design of the Finnish case. Results are expected to be useful as a technical basis for performance and safety assessment in developing the Korean deep geological disposal system for high-level radioactive waste. However, for a more detailed review and evaluation of each feature, it is necessary to obtain data for the final disposal site and facility-specific design, and to assess its impact in advance.

  • Many studies states that improperly uprising of infrastructure may cause leading the forest degradation and canopy reduction in many tropical forest of Asian countries. Other studies revealed that habitat destruction and fragmentation, edge effects, exotic species invasions, pollution are provoked by roads. Similarly, environmental effects of road construction in forests are problematic. Similarly, many researches have been indicated that roads have a far greater impact on forests than simply allowing greater access for human use. Moreover, people using river as means of transportation hence illegal logging and felling cause canopy depletion in many countries. Therefore, it is important to comprehend the study about spatial relation of road, river and suburb followed by temporal change of forest canopy phenomena. This study also tried to examine the effect of road, river and suburb in forest canopy density change of Terai forest of Nepal from you 1988 to 2001. So, Landsat TM88, 92 and 001 and FCD (Forest Canopy Density) mapper were used to perform the spatial .elation of canopy density change. ILWIS (Integrated Land and Water Information System) which is GIS software and compatible with remote sensing data was used to execute analysis and visualize the results. Study found that influence of distance to suburb and river had statistically significance influenced in canopy change. Though road also influenced canopy density much but didn't show a statistical relation. It can be concluded from this research that understanding of spatial relation of factors respect with canopy change is quite complex phenomena unless detail analysis of surrounding environment. Hence, it is better to carry out comprehensive analysis with other additional factors such as biophysical, anthropogenic, social, and institutional factors for proper approach of their effect on canopy change.

  • Agriculture is the most primitive civilized Activities of mankind but also the propellant of civilization development. Because it is the most basic material goods source of mankind. Among these materials rice is one of the most important part of these, we call them the substance of survival. From the beginning of the agricultural activities to the present we have experienced three industrial revolutions and are experiencing the Fourth Industrial Revolution. With the development of science and technology makes the efficiency of agricultural production is higher and higher, but compared with the original we are facing the same problem: natural disasters; pests and diseases; now also face the depletion of resources, environmental degradation and other issues. Therefore, improve and cultivate new crop varieties to make it better resistance and more production for better develop modern agriculture. It's very helpful for human social development. And also it is the responsibility and task of modern molecular breeding. In this study, I used bacterial leaf blight to find a better resistance gene to improve the resistance of rice. Frist Cultivate k3 of bacterial leaf blight, than inoculation by leaf clipping method (Kauffman,1973) in CNDH and SNDH population at 40days after rice transplanting. Check the lesion length by inoculation plants at 14days after inoculation, and record data for QTL analysis program. Than I get 4 intervals in 3 different chromosomal regions. I found these defense genes in the 4 intervals. So I used NCBI Justbio, Rapdb, etc. to finding these genes in physical map, than design primer for map base cloning. At last these defense genes will be employed in further research for introduction of the gene to the parental plant and rice breeding for solving food crisis.

  • The satellite on geostationary orbit accommodates multiple payloads into a single spacecraft platform and launched in June 26, 2010. The electrical power required to the satellite during sunlight is generated by a solar array wing. The solar cells are the GaInP/GaAs/Ge Triple Junction cells named Gaget2 cells from RWE Space, which were based on a Spectrolab epitaxy. This paper evaluates solar array power performance at end of design life based on the trend analysis results for the flight data on geostationary orbit. The estimated solar array power performance at end of design life compares with the power performance provided by solar array manufacturer. The solar cells show nominal behavior without significant degradation through the trend analysis results.

  • We have analyzed the performance of TCP in the CDMA mobile communications systems with the adaptive modulation and coding(AMC). The wireless channel using AMC is characterized with not high error rate but highly varying bandwidth. Due to time-varying bandwidth, timeout events of TCP occurs more frequently, which leads to the throughput degradation. The analysis model is composed of the two parts. In the first part, we divide TCP packet stream into ‘packet groups’and derive the probability distribution of the wireless transmission time of each Packet group that reflects the time varying characteristics of AMC. In the second part, we formulate embedded Markov chain by making use of the results of the first part to model TCP timer mechanism and wireless transmission. Since our system model is characterized by the forward link high speed data transmission using AMC, the results reported in this paper can be used as a guideline for the design and operation of HSDPA, 1xEV-DO, and 1xEV-DV.

  • In this study, I aimed to suggest political data on the plantation of chestnut trees given the local features by conducting an analysis on the economic efficiency of the plantation of chestnut trees aimed at chestnut tree plantation farmhouses (total 67 farmhouses) in Chungbuk, Chungnam, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam and Gyeongnam, which are the chief producing place in Korea. As a result, the central area (Chungbuk, Chungnam) was proven to post 2.7 times as many as the average total income, 3.9 times as many as income, and 12.1 times as many as net income per ha when compared with those in the southern area (Jeonnam, Gyeongnam). That is, the southern area demonstrated a very low economic efficiency on the plantation of chestnut trees compared with that of the central area, and this was caused by the reduction of chestnut production and the degradation of chestnut quality due to the aging of chestnut trees. Therefore, it is imperative to consistently renovate aged chestnut orchards and manage them in the southern area.

  • These days, it is developed renewable energy-based wind power technology. Wind power generation is relatively quiet, and environmental damage is relatively low. In developed countries, a lot of wind power generation is being built. In Korea, the generation efficiency is low because there are few areas where the wind speed is maintained for four seasons. In recent years, forest damage, low noise, and environmental degradation complaints are frequent. In this paper, we performed an experiment to manage pitch control effectively by analyzing wind, direction, and temperature in real time based on FUZZY rule and cluster analysis.Using the new algorithm proposed by the simulation results, we could verify the efficiency of wind power generation pitch control for wind condition and direction condition by using the pitch control analysis technique.Furthermore, visualization representations have proven to automatically analyze early warning and efficiency of generator performance.
