To relieve noise between floors in Korea, recent domestic and overseas studies have been developing materials that have the properties of ceramic, which is an inorganic compound, and polymer, which is an organic compound, to introduce a new function to polymer. This study conducted a bending strength experiment between re-bar and new composite concrete mixing POSS (Polyhedral Oligomeric Silses-quioxanes) nano complex on the inside of concrete, and by assembling the inside of each concrete with 3 and 4 main re-bars as an experiment to supplement various problems that occur by the expression of this strength and the distribution of the reinforcement. The number of the main re-bars. and the direction of laying the concrete were applied as the principal variables of the experiment. Upon experiment, there were no differences in the bond strength based on the location of the main re-bar, and a 2 % increase in the bond strength was shown in the specimen laid in the same direction as the main re-bar in comparison to that of the specimen laid in a different direction from the main re-bar. The experiment results displayed that the composite concrete had uniform performance based on the rapid reaction speed of POSS nano complex.
The soil nailing system is becoming common as reinforcement method of slope face in soil. It has application to obtain slope stability method and scaffolding system. It has some troubles when the soil nailing system is applied to the downtown because it could be invaded someone's private area. Thus, in this paper, wedge type removable soil nailing system which can easily remove deformed bar in final excavation step is developed. Field pull-out test is performed to evaluate deformed bars removal and pullout resistance characteristics. According to this result, application of Wedge Type Removable Soil Nailing System is performed.
This paper aims to study the local bond stress-slip behavior of reinforcing bars embedded in lightweight aggregate concrete (LWAC). The experimental variables of the local bond stress-slip tests include concrete strength (20, 40 and 60 MPa), deformed steel bar size (#4, #6 and #8) and coarse aggregate (normal weight aggregate, reservoir sludge lightweight aggregate and waterworks sludge lightweight aggregate). The test results show that the ultimate bond strength increased with the increase of concrete compressive strength. Moreover, the larger the rib height to the diameter ratio ($h/d_b$) of the deformed steel bars is, the greater the ultimate bond stress is. In addition, the suggestion value of the CEB-FIP Model Code to the LWAC specimen's ultimate bond stress is more conservative than that of the normal weight concrete.
Two cases of surgical correction of funnel chest using metal struts were presented. The main procedures of the method were transverse submammary incision, subperichondrial resection of the deformed costal cartilages, division of the xiphisternal joint, wedge osteotomy of the sternum, freeing of the posterior surface of the sternum and stabilization by means of 2 metal struts. The struts were removed postoperative 3 and 6 months by a small incision under the local anesthesia. The results in both patients were satisfactory. This method of correction is simple, easy to perform and free of any operative risks.
A reducing bearing angle theory for bond of ribbed reinforcing bars to concrete is proposed to simulate experimental observation. Analytical expressions to determine bond strength for splitting and pullout failure are derived, where the bearing angle is a key variable. As bearing angle is reduced, splitting strength decreases and shearing strength increases. The proposed reducing bearing angle theory is effective to simulate damage of the deformed bar-concrete interface and understand bond mechanism of ribbed reinforcing steel in concrete structures.
Finite element analysis is used to study the role of interfacial properties on the bond strength of reinforcing steel to concrete. Specifically, the role played by epoxy coatings on the failure of standard beam-end specimens is explored. Experimental results show that epoxy coatings reduce bond strength, but that the effect is dependent on the bar size and the deformation pattern. The finite element model for the beam-end specimen includes representations for the deformed steel bar, the concrete, and the interfacial material. The interface elements can be varied to match the stiffness and friction properties of the interfacial material. Cracking within the concrete is represented using Hillerborg's ficticious crack model. The model is used to study important aspects or behavior observed in the tests and to provide an explanation for the effect of the various test parameters.
The influence of the interfacial properties on the bond capacity of reinforcing bars to concrete is studied in this paper. In this study, the deterioration of the interfacial bond capacity when top-cast bars or epoxy-coated bars are used is examined. The effect of such variables on bond capacity in reinforced concrete is studied by experiment which use beam-end specimens. The main objective of this study is that comparing the test results and the requirements in ACI 318-89 code. the verification of the factor in ACI code is also presented in this paper. The results of the test show that "top bar effect" is considerably affected by the slump of fresh concrete, so the influence of slump shoud be taken into account for top bar effect factor in code. Test results also shows that the bond-slip curve of the epoxy-caoted bars is similiar to that of the uncoated and bond strength is reduced about 15% and that coating thickness seems to influence the bond strength deterioration.rioration.
By using the electrochemical method, the relation between the deformation and the geometrical shape, and the effect of cold work on hydrogen absorption-desorption cycling in palladium were investigated, In order to study this problem, four kinds of the Pd specimens used were plates and bars as cold worked and annealed states. As results, it is found that the deformation of thickness direction in the palladium plates increased whereas other lateral directions decreased. But the palladium bars showed the same deformation ratio in all directions because of uniform distribution of the $\beta$ phase. Grains in the plate specimens were greatly deformed after hydrogenation cycling whereas grains in the bar specimens were pulverized. Also, deterioration of the hydrogen absorption rate of the bar specimen was larger than the plate specimen. And the effect of cold work on hydrogen absorption capacity was relatively small.
