  • This paper presents truss model that can be used to determine the deformation as well as strength of RC members. This model is constituted to address plastic hinge rotation at tile deformation concentrated regions under severe lateral load. The behavior of each element of truss model is evaluated on the basis of stress field analysis. The deformation is obtained by combining element deformations with joint rotation. Initial strength is calculated at the first failure of any element, and strength deterioration after failure depends on the strength reduction of this element. The proposed model will provide useful tools in seismic design of ductility-required members.

  • Cooling characteristics for the three type spindles with high frequency motor are studied. For the analysis, three dimensional models are built considering heat transfer characteristics such as natural and forced convection coefficients. Unsteady-state temperature distributions and thermal deformations according to the cooling conditions are analyzed by using the finite element method.

  • A vectorial approach is used to reduce the objectionable booming noise in the vehicle interior cabin. After identifying the structural transmisson paths, the structural-acoustic transfer functions are evaluated at those mounting positions. Using the measured deformations in the mounting elements and multiplying them with each dynamic stiffness value one can easily get the dynamic input forces acting on the mounting elements. By summing all the contributors vectorially, most important contributor or transmission path can be determined. According to the experimental information, devised countermeasures are applied to a development car and good results are obtained.

  • This paper deals with the Automatic Analysis of Continuous Beams with Variable Cross-Section. Based on the principle of superpositon and the method of consistent deformations, the governing differential equation is derived for the deflection and stress resultants of such continuous beam. The effects of variable load conditions, the end constraints on the deflection and the stress resultants are analyzed. It is expected that the results obtained herein can be used practically in the structural engineering.

  • We give an analytic approach to the versal deformation of a resolution of a germ of normal isolated singularities. In this paper, we treat only formal deformation theory and it is applied to complete the CR-description of the simultaneous resolution of a cone eve. a rational curve of degree n in P$^{n}$ (n $\leq$ 4).

  • Real elastomers show the anomalous behavior in the Ii dependence curves of the derivatives of W with respect to Ii at small strains. The limiting values of the derivatives were evaluated by a simple model based on the assumption that W in the large deformations should coincide with that in the linear elasticity theory. The calculated values were in good agreement with the experimental ones for real elastomers.

  • In a slender column under sustained eccentric compression, the deformations caused by creep and shrinkage can lead to an increase in the loads on the structure and a reduction in strength. This study presents a methodlogy and improved computer program for the analysis of time-dependent long column in considering slender effects and nonlinear behaviors. In this result, when slenderness ratio is greater than 80, we know that magnified moment methods may be not applied in long columns.

  • The strain localization is a discontinuous phenomenon that addresses the formation of jumps of the field variables across a singularity surface. It has become widely accepted that the localization may occur as the result of discontinuous bifurcation which corresponds to the loss of ellipticity of the governing differential equations for elasto-plastic continua. In this paper, condition for strain localization in concrete based on bifurcation theory is studied and localization tensor analysis algorithm is employed to determine the directions of localization of deformations in concrete. By applying a plasticity model of concrete into the algorithm, localization analysis is performed concrete under uniaxial tension, pure shear and uniaxial compression.

  • On the basis of the semi-linear material of John invoking the theory of homogenization for heterogeneous media and the theory of invariants for isotropic scalar functions an energy function is built for a transversely-isotropic medium in finite elastic deformation. The ponyting Effect for material in simple shear is reviewed for this case of transversal isotropy. It is shown that this effect is apprehended by the constructed energy function.
