Carbon-manganese steel A42 (French standards) is used in steam generator pipes of nuclear center and subject to low cycle fatigue (LCF) loads. In order to obtain the material LCF behavior, the tests are implemented in a hydraulic fatigue machine. The LCF plastic deformation and cyclic stress in macroscope have been influenced by the accumulated low cycle fatigue damage. The constitutive kinematic and isotropic hardening modeling is modified with coupling fatigue damage to describe the fatigue behavior. The improved model seems to be good agreement with the test results.
In this study, a forging steel alloyed with both Nb and V was used as experimental material and the hot deformation behavior has been studied for this steel by conducting the compressive deformation test at temperature of $900-1150^{\circ}C$ and strain rate of $0.01-0.01s^{-1}$ in a MMS-300 thermo-mechanical simulator. The microstructure evolution, particularly the dynamically recrystallized microstructure, of the experimental steel at elevated temperatures, strain rates and strain levels, was characterized by optical microstructural observation and the constitutive equation in association with the activation energy and Zener-Hollomon parameter. The curves of strain hardening rate versus stress were used to determine the critical strain and peak strain, and their relation was connected with Zener-Hollomon parameter. Under the conditions of processing temperature $900^{\circ}C$ and strain rate $0.01s^{-1}$, the dynamic recrystallization took place and the austenite grain size was refined from $164.5{\mu}m$ to $28.9{\mu}m$.
Hypereutectic Al-25Si-X alloys, expected to be applied to the cylinder-liner-part of the engine-block of an automobile due to the excellent wear resistance, low density and low thermal expansion coefficient has been fabricated through a spray forming process. The obtained microstructure of the hypereutectic Al-25Si-X alloy appeared to consist of Al matrix and equiaxed Si particles of average diameter of $5-7{\mu}m$. To characterize the deformation behavior of this alloy, a series of load relaxation and compression tests have been conducted at temperatures ranging from RT to $500^{\circ}C$. The strain rate sensitivity parameter (m) of this alloy has been found to be very low (0.1) below foot and reached 0.2 at $500^{\circ}C$. During the deformation above 300'c in compression, strain softening has been observed. The diagram of extrusion pressure vs. ram-speed has been constructed, providing the extrusion condition of Al-25Si-X alloys.

During the deformation above $300^{\circ}C$ in compression, strain softening has been observed. The diagram of extrusion pressure vs. ram-speed has been constructed. The extrusion has been successfully conducted at the temperatures of $300^{\circ}C$ and above with the ratio of area reduction of 28 and 40 in this study.
In this study, surface deformation patterns have been investigated by the rigid-plastic finite element method for friction factor test in solid cylinder compression process. AA1100 and AA6063 aluminum alloys, which show different work hardening characteristics respectively, have been adopted as model materials used for analysis. The main objective of this study is to provide the deformation mechanics in detail in solid cylinder compression process, especially at the die/workpiece interface that is closely related with the frictional conditions. For this reason, solid cylinder compression process has been numerically analyzed. The surface flow patterns at the contact boundary have been analyzed in terms of surface expansion, surface expansion velocity, pressure distributions exerted on the die surface along the die surface. By defining bulge factor, barreling phenomenon also have been examined with calibration curves to verify their effects on the surface flow pattern that is important for evaluating the frictional condition at the interface.
This study proposed a simulated test method using ring specimen to evaluate the deformation and failure characteristics of pipe elbows under a large amplitude cyclic load. The validity of the test method was demonstrated by finite element (FE) analysis of pipe elbow and ring specimen under cyclic loads. The results showed that the proposed test method adequately simulates the distribution of circumferential strain at crown of pipe elbows where cracks occur under cyclic loads and presents the cyclic hardening behavior of pipe elbows. The parametric FE analysis showed that consistent simulated test results could be obtained when the test section of the ring specimen is longer than 1/2 of the inner diameter of the ring specimen and the radius of the inner loading jig is less than 1/4 of the inner diameter of the specimen.
A 3-dimensional stress measurement system based on the bore hole bottom deformation method, which is one of the stress relief methods, was developed. A pilot bore hole is drilled from the bottom of a bore hole and the stress meter is inserted into the pilot bore hole in the method. The bore hole is advanced as an over coring and the deformations in seven directions are measured by cantilever type-sensors. Using the cantilever type-sensors saves time for hardening of glue. No cable connection between the stress meter and a data logger is necessary since a compact data logger is installed in the stress meter. The accuracy of the stress meter was confirmed by a biaxial test for a Shikotsu welded tuff block although in-situ tests have not been carried out yet.
Under repeated rolling, initial plastic deformation introduces residual stresses which render the steady cyclic state purely elastic. This is called the process of shakedown. Many studies have been done about the shakedown in semi-infinite half space using calculated Hertizian pressure. In this paper shakedown processes in a shaft are studied by finite element analyses of a two dimensional(plane strain) model with elastic-linear-kinematic-hardening-plastic material subjected to repeated, frictionless rolling contact. Symmetric and non-symmetric pressure distributions are obtained using a simplified model of the bearing-shaft assembly. The rolling contact is simulated by repeatedly translating both pressure distributions along the surface of the shaft. By the influence of the non-symmetric pressure, larger residual radial tensile stress is generated in the immediate subsurface layer, which may make a crack propagate and, the subsurface undergoes a zigzag plastic deformation during the shakedown process, which may lead to a crack initiation.
A numerical analysis was performed to predict flow curves and dynamic recrystallization behaviors of Al-5wt%Mg alloy on the basis of results of hot compression tests. The hot compression tests were carred out in the ranges of 350 ~ 500 ${^\circ}C$ and 5 ${\times}{10^-3}$ ~ 3 ${\times}{10^0}$/sec to obtain the Zener-Hollomon parameter Z. The modelling equation for flow stress was a function of strain, strain rate, temperature. The influence of these variables was quantifield using the Zener-Hollomon parameter. In the modelling equation, the effects of strain hardening and dynamic recrystallization were taken into consideration. Therefore, the modelling stress-strain curves of Al-5wt%Mg alloy were in good agreement with experimental results. Finally, the dynamic recrystallization kinetics were illustrated through the inspection of microstructure after deformation.

Rock salt is a near-perfect material for gas storage repositories due to its excellent ductility and low permeability. Gas storage in rock salt layers during gas injection and gas production causes the stress redistribution surrounding the cavity. The triaxial cyclic loading and unloading tests for rock salt were performed in this paper. The elastic-plastic deformation behaviour of rock salt under cyclic loading was observed. Rock salt experienced strain hardening during the initial loading, and the irreversible deformation was large under low stress station, meanwhile the residual stress became larger along with the increase of deviatoric stress. Confining pressure had a significant effect on the unloading modulus for the variation of mechanical parameters. Based on the theory of elastic-plastic damage mechanics, the evolution of damage during cyclic loading and unloading under various confining pressure was described.
