In general, flexural strength and ductility of reinforced concrete beam with stirrup depend on the compressive strength of concrete and longitudinal steel ratio. In this study, nine reinforced high strength lightweight concrete beams and three reinforced normalweight concrete beams with stirrup were tested to investigate their behavior and to determine their ultimate moment capacity. The variable were strength of concrete (400, 500kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$) and the ratio of tensile steel content to the ratio of the balanced steel content(0.22<$\rho$/$$\rho$_b$<0.56). Test results are presented in terms of load-deflection behavior, ductility index, and cracking patterns.

While a little research has been peformed on flexural behavior of reinforced polymer concrete (RPC)beams with the compressive strength lower than 900kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ vary little exists in conjunction with the behavior of RPC 1,000kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ or higher in compressive strength. In this paper the flexural performance of high strength polymer concrete beams with 1,450kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ in compressive strength was evaluated. The unsaturated polyester resin was used to make polymer concrete as binder. The beams with stirrup singly/doubly were tested to examine the effect of tensile reinforcement ratio. As test results, reinforcement ratio increased with the increase moment strength, decreased with ultimate deflection, ductility index.
To study the mechanical performances of prestressed steel-concrete composite box beam under combination of bending-shear-torsion, nine composite beams with different ratio of torsion to bending were designed. Torsion was applied to the free end of the beam with jacks controlled accurately with peripherals, as well as concentrated force on the mid-span with jacks. Based on experimental data and relative theories, mechanical properties of composite beams were analyzed, including torsional angle, deformation and failure patterns. The results showed that under certain ratio of torsion to bending, cracking and ultimate torsion increased and reached to its maximum at the ratio of 2. Three phases of process is also discussed, as well as the conditions of each failure mode.

This paper describes the application of discretized continuum-type optimality criteria (DCOC) for minimum-cost design of the reinforced concrete frame structures consisting of beams and columns. The cost of construction as objective function which includes the costs of concrete, reinforced steel and formwork is minimized. The design constraints include limits on the maximum deflection at a prescribed node, bending and shear strengths in beams, uniaxial bending strength of columns according to design codes(CEB/FIP, 1990). In the first stage, only beams with uniform cross-sectional parameters per span are considered. But the steel ratio is allowed to vary freely. The cross-sectional parameters and steel ratio in each column are assumed to be uniform for practical reasons. Optimality criteria is given based on the well known Kuhn-Tucker necessary conditions, followed by an iterative procedure for designs when the design variables are the depth and the steel ratio. The versatility of the DCOC technique has been demonstrated by considering numerical examples which have one-bay four-storey frame.
The purpose of this paper is to study on the shear strength of high strength concrete beams with steel fibrous. In general, the shear strength of reinforced concrete beams is affected by the compressive strengths of concrete( c), the shear span-depth ratio(a/d), the longitudinal steel ratio($\rho$$\omega$), and shear reinforcement. An experimental investigation of the shear strength of high strength concrete beams with steel fibrous was conducted. In each series the shear span-depth ratio(a/d) was held constant at 1.5, 2.8, or 3.6, while concrete strengths were varied from 320 to 520, to 800kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$. To verify the proposed equations the experimental results were compared with those from other researches such as equation of ACI code 318-95 or equation of Zsutty. To deduce equation for shear strength from experimental data carried out MINITAP program. According to the experimental results, the addition of steel fibrous has increased the deflection and strain at failure load, improving the brittleness of the high strength concrete.

The compression or tension-controlled failure mode of concrete beams prestressed with unbonded FRP tendons is governed by the relative amount of prestressing tendon to the balanced one. Explicit assessment to determine the balanced reinforcement ratio of a beam with unbonded tendons (${\rho}^U_{pfb}$) is difficult because it requires a priori knowledge of the deformed beam geometry in order to evaluate the unbonded tendon strain. In this study, a theoretical evaluation of ${\rho}^U_{pfb}$ is presented based on a concept of three equivalent rectangular curvature blocks for simply supported concrete beams internally prestressed with unbonded carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) tendons. The equivalent curvature blocks were iteratively refined to closely simulate beam rotations at the supports, mid-span beam deflection, and member-dependent strain of the unbonded tendon at the ultimate state. The model was verified by comparing its predictions with the test results. Parametric studies were performed to examine the effects of various parameters on ${\rho}^U_{pfb}$.

This study is based on the use and performance of bamboo reinforcements in construction of low-cost structures. This study investigated the physical and mechanical properties of bamboo reinforcements. Bamboo reinforced concrete beam specimens were tested with different reinforcement ratios and observed the load capacity, deflection and failure patterns. It was observed that, flexural strength of bamboo reinforced column is sufficient higher than plain cement concrete and comparable to steel reinforced concrete beams. Bamboo reinforced concrete columns with different reinforcement ratio also tested and observed the ultimate compressive strength and failure pattern. It found, all columns failed in a similar pattern due to crushing of concrete. According to cost analysis, bamboo reinforced beams and columns with moderate reinforcement ratio showed the best strength-cost ratio among plain cement concrete and steel reinforced concrete.
This article deals with the frequency analysis of viscoelastic sandwich disk with graphene nano-platelets (GPLs) reinforced viscoelastic concrete (GPLRVC) face sheets and honeycomb core. The honeycomb core is made of aluminum due to its low weight and high stiffness. The rule of the mixture and modified Halpin-Tsai model are engaged to provide the effective material constant of the concrete. By employing Hamilton's principle, the governing equations of the structure are derived and solved with the aid of the Generalize Differential Quadrature Method (GDQM). In this paper, viscoelastic properties are modeled according to Kelvin-Voigt viscoelasticity. The deflection as the function of time can be solved by the fourth-order Runge-Kutta numerical method. Afterward, a parametric study is carried out to investigate the effects of the outer to inner radius ratio, hexagonal core angle, thickness to length ratio of the concrete, the weight fraction of GPLs into concrete, and the thickness of honeycomb core to inner radius ratio on the frequency of the viscoelastic sandwich disk with honeycomb core and FG-GPLRVC face sheet.
A concrete-filled circular steel tube beam was fabricated, and a bending test was performed to analyze its failure modes, displacement ductility, bending-shear strength, and load-central deflection relationship. For the bending test, the installation position of the shape memory alloy (SMA) inside and outside the double-skin steel tube was used, and the rebar installation position, the concrete strength, the mixing of fibers, and the inner-outer diameter ratio as the main parameters. The test results showed that the installation positions of the reinforcements inside and outside the double-skin steel tube and the inner-outer diameter ratio of the steel tube affected the ductility, maximum load, and failure mode. In general, the specimen made of general concrete with SMA installed outside and inside (OI) the double-skin steel tube showed the best results.
In urban area, there are several major factors to be considered in tunnel design and construction. The first is to predict the magnitude and distribution of ground movements for particular ground conditions and construction procedures. The second is to assess the potential damage to nearby structures in response to the predicted ground movements. The third is to select the measures to be taken if a potential damage is foreseen. This study is concerned primarily with the first and second stages of the problem. Particularly, this paper is focused on the second stage to assess the potential damage to the nearby building with any type of geometries and locations above ground surface. In order to solve this problem, we introduced damage parameters(angular distortion, deflection ratio, maximum building settlements, maximum differential settlements, horizontal strain, etc.), and extended these parameters into 3-dimensional safety assessment. Also, to assess the safety of any walls existing in the building, we developed a 3-dimensional analysis program, and various parametric studies for the nearby building with any type of geometries and locations were presented. In addition to these parametric studies, we compared the results of the proposed techniques with some abroad case records for particular tunnels and adjacent buildings.
