The most important material parameters are fracture energy and the stress-crack opening displacement($\sigma$-w) curve to determine the behavior of concrete. Especially, the relationship between the $\sigma$-w curve is strongly important to determine the load-displacement curve of concrete that has a major influence on the fracture behavior of a concrete. In this paper, notched plain concrete beams with different strength level were tested under three-point bending and fracture energy, the load-deflection curve, and the load-crack mouth opening displacement(CMOD) curve were obtained from the experimental data. Also, the fictitious crack model(FCM) was applied to determine the load-deflection curve of notched plain concrete beams using various types of $\sigma$-w curve model proposed by Petersson and we compared experimental results with numerical ones carried out by Finite Element Method(FEM).
In this article, the influence of fuzzified uncertain composite elastic properties on non-linear deformation behaviour of the composite structure is investigated under external mechanical loadings (uniform and sinusoidal distributed loading) including the different end boundaries. In this regard, the composite model has been derived considering the fuzzified elastic properties (through a triangular fuzzy function, α cut) and the large geometrical distortion (Green-Lagrange strain) in the framework of the higher-order mid-plane kinematics. The results are obtained using the fuzzified nonlinear finite element model via in-house developed computer code (MATLAB). Initially, the model accuracy has been established and explored later to show the dominating elastic parameter affect the deflection due to the inclusion of fuzzified properties by solving a set of new numerical examples.
In this study, Model test of concrete frame structures with various shapes and locations are carried out by means of applying Peck's(1969) settlement method. The results of the model test indicated that important correlations existed between the behavior of frame structure and ground movement. Also, the damage level of frame structure closely influenced by the phase of excavation. Therefore, prediction of damage level at early phase of construction should be very precise. The damage level graph by Cording et al.(2001), the angular distortion provided gradually more serious damage to frame structures for the all cases. But the damage level graph by Burland(1997), was difficult to confirm because of very small amount of deflection ratio.
In this paper, sliding mode control (SMC) is designed and applied to an elastic structure to suppress some of its vibration modes. The system is an elastic beam clamped on one end and the designed controller uses only the deflection measurement of the free end. The infinite dimensional mathematical model of the beam is reduced to an ordinary differential equation set to represent the behavior of required modes. Since the states of the finite dimensional model are not physically measurable quantities, an observer is designed to estimate these states by measuring the tip deflection of the beam. The performance of the observer is important because the observed states are used in the SMC design. In this study, by using the output information, an observer is designed and tested to estimate the states of the finite dimensional model of the beam. Then the designed SMC is applied to the experimental beam system which gives satisfactory suppressed vibrations.

In this paper a vibration control fo a one-link flexible beam is considered. At first a state-space model for a flexible beam is derived by using the assumed-modes approach. Based on this model the transfer function between the applied torque and the tip deflection fo the beam is presented because it is convenient to apply our method. In general there exist some control difference due to flexibility of the beam so we adop a forward-passive controller to reduce these phenomena. And a complex dual-input describing function compensator is used to control the tip deflection. The stabiltiy and the performance of the closed-loop system are analyzed. Finally the validity of the derived model and the effectiveness of proposed controller are confirmed throuth simula-tions and experiments.

The present paper deals with nonlinear deflection analysis of hyperelastic plates rested on elastic foundation and subject to a transverse point force. For modeling of hyperelastic material, three-parameter Ishihara model has been employed. The plate formulation is based on classic plate theory accounting for von-Karman geometric nonlinearity. Therefore, both material and geometric nonlinearities have been considered based on Ishihara hyperelastic plate model. The governing equations for the plate have been derived based on Hamilton's rule and then solved via Galerkin's method. Obtained results show that material parameters of hyperelastic material play an important role in defection analysis. Also, the effects of foundation parameter and load location on plate deflections will be discussed.
For application to drag-based propulsion system, the dynamics of a segmented structure with multiple hinges undergoing oscillatory motion are investigated. The side flaps are connected to a centre rod with elastic plates acting as hinges. The hinges bend to only one direction so that the structure behave asymmetrically between the power stroke and the recovery stroke. An analytical model is proposed, which estimates the asymmetric deformation of the segmented structure coupled with hinges. Using the proposed model, the effects of key geometric and kinematic parameters on the dynamics of the structure are analyzed.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of welding conditions on the shape of arc of FCAW using high speed camera system. Length and deflection of arc were evaluated from images of arc which were transformed by threshold processing. Based on the experimental results, a regression model for the length of arc was established. A major factor affecting deflection of arc was the length of arc.
To improve the surface waviness in the peripheral milling, since the tool deflection is largely affected by cutting force, the feedrate is controlled so that the cutting force measured in the normal direction to the workpiece is constant. A discrete time first order model between the feedrate and the tool deflection is derived for the control. The experimental results show that the surface waviness is greatly improved by the proposed method.

Yoke simulator has been made for understanding beam movements in the deflection fields of the CRT. Consisting of the modeler, solver and post-processor, the simulator makes yoke model (conventional and rectangular yoke) and calculates charge sources and magnetic filed by BEM (boundary element method). This system supports a number of charge elements (line and surface charges) and beam movements can be predicted by the system.
