Design of Coupled Resonators Bandpass Filter with Defected Ground Structure

  • In this paper a four-pole elliptic function bandpass filter is designed with two ground slots. A research of microstrip bandpass filters (BPF) using defected ground structures (DGS) is presented. DGS technique allows designs of tight couplings without the necessity of using very narrow coupling gaps. The simulator Sonnet is used to design the resonator and to calculate the coupling coefficient of the basic coupling structure. Compared to similar microstrip filters without defected ground structure, the simulated performances of these novel structures indicate some technological advantages.

  • In this paper, a homogeneous dual composite right/left-handed (D-CRLH) transmission line (TL) is proposed by using a defected ground structure (DGS) on the ground plane. In order to satisfy a homogeneity condition of metamaterial, a subwavelength unit cell is designed by way of a spiral DGS and a meander stub. From a dispersion diagram, it is expected that the frequency bands for the left-handed (LH) property is 3.5 - 4.4 GHz. At 3.8 GHz in the LH band, backward propagating phenomenon is observed from full-wave analysis. The experimental results show that the proposed TL has a stop-band in 1.75 - 3.6 GHz.

  • This paper presents a novel modeling technique for traces that cross a defected ground structure. A simple and accurate equivalent circuit model provides clear insight into the coupling mechanism between a microstrip line and a slot or split. The circuit models consist of a transformer as the coupling mechanism and LC resonators as the ground with a slot or split structure. Resistors, capacitors, and inductors are added to the model to increase accuracy and equivalence at high frequency. Simulated and measured S-parameters are presented for defected ground structures. The accuracy and validity of the proposed equivalent circuit model is verified by evaluation of the S-parameter characteristics of the defected ground structures and comparison with measured results.

  • In this paper, we deal with EMI Analysis on Microstrip with Defected Ground plane. Specially, we investigate reflection, transmission, crosstalk, radiated emission on Microstrip with Defected Ground plane structure. And investigates undesired effects on various defected ground plane such as ground with split, slot, short end and open end gap. To analyze reflection, transmission and crosstalk of microstrip with defected ground plane, we used concept of the microstrip to slot line transition model.   • 본 논문에서는 결함접지구조(Defected Ground Structure: DGS)의 전파 지연 특성을 이용하여 소형으로 구현한 휴대 인터넷용 고전력 Single Pole Double Throw(SPDT) 스위치의 특성이 제공되며 1/4 파장 전송선을 이용하여 제작된 일반적인 방식의 스위치와 그 특성이 비교된다. DGS를 활용하여 제작된 스위치는 높은 격리도를 확보하기 위해 병렬구조의 다이오드를 사용하여 구성되었으며 2.3 GHz에서 0.8 dB의 삽입 손실과 50 dB 이상의 격리도 특성을 보였고 50 W 이상의 전력을 다룰 수 있었다. DGS를 활용한 스위치는 기존의 전송선 방식의 스위치와 거의 동일한 스위칭 특성을 보이면서도 $50\%$ 가까운 회로의 크기 감소를 달성할 수 있었다.

A Design of 5.8 ㎓ Oscillator using the Novel Defected Ground Structure

  • This paper presents a 5.8-㎓ oscillator that uses a novel defected ground structure(DGS), which is etched on the metallic ground plane. As the suggested defected ground structure is the structure for mounting an active device, it is the roles of a feedback loop inducing a negative resistance as well as a frequency-selective circuit. Applying the feedback loop between the drain and the gate of a FET device produces precise phase conversion in the feedback loop. The equivalent circuit parameters of the DGS are extracted by using a three-dimensional EM simulation ,md simple circuit analysis method. In order to demonstrate a new DGS oscillator, we designed the oscillator at 5.8-㎓. The experimental results show 4.17 ㏈m output power with over 22 % dc-to-RF power efficiency and - 85.8 ㏈c/Hz phase noise at 100 KHz offset from the fundamental carrier at 5.81 ㎓.

  • A slotted implantable patch antenna with microstrip feeding is proposed for industrial, scientific, and medical band applications. The result is verified by implanting the antenna in animal tissue. Further, by varying the ground width and introducing a defect into the ground structure, the antenna becomes applicable for worldwide interoperability for microwave access operations. A simulation is performed using Empire XCcel software. An Agilent vector network analyzer is used for analyzing the return loss performance. Simulated and measured results are compared. Antennas with and without defected ground structure both have key advantages including low profile, desirable return loss, good impedance matching and required bandwidth.

  • 본 논문에서는 폴리비닐알코올로 코팅된 마이크로스트립 결함 접지 구조 기반 마이크로파 센서를 이용한 습도 센서의 개발에 대하여 연구하였다. 인터디지털 커패시터 모양의 결함 접지 구조를 마이크로스트립 선로의 접지면에 추가하여 피시험물의 유전율 변화에 민감한 고감도 마이크로파 센서를 설계하였다. 습도에 따라 유전율이 변하는 고분자 물질인 폴리비닐알코올을 제안된 센서의 결함 접지 구조에 얇은 두께로 코팅하였고, 습도에 따른 마이크로파 센서의 전달계수의 공진 주파수와 크기의 변화를 측정하였다. 온습도 챔버를 사용하여 25도에서 상대습도를 40%에서 80%까지 10% 간격으로 증가시켰을 때 전달계수의 공진 주파수는 1.475 GHz에서 1.449 GHz로 감소하였고, 크기는 -32.90 dB에서 -25.67 dB로 증가하였다.

Feedforward와 Defected Ground Structure를 이용한 주파수 체배기 설계 (A Novel Design of Frequency Multiplier Using Feedforward Technique and Defected Ground Structure)

  • Feedforward와 defected ground structure(DGS)를 이용한 새로운 주파수 체배기를 제안하였다. 제한된 주파수 체배기는 feedforward 구조에 의해 기본 주파수$(f_0)$가 제거되고, 아령 또는 나선형 모양의 DGS 구조에 의해 2차, 3차 또는 4차의 원하지 않는 고조파 성분들을 제거할 수 있었다. 결국 feedforward와 DGS 구조에 의해서 체배하고자 하는 성분을 제외한 나머지 고조파들이 제거되었다. 기본 주파수를 1 GHz로 하여 주파수 체배기를 설계하고, 측정하였다. 입력 전력을 0dBm으로 하였을 때 2체배기, 3체배기와 4체배기의 출력 전력은 각각 -2.59 dBm, -5.36 dBm과 -4.57 dBm이었다.
