Hydrogen Gas Production from Methane Reforming Using Oxygen Enriched Compression Ignition Engine (산소부화 압축착화기관을 이용한 메탄으로부터 수소 생산)

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the reforming characteristics and maximum operating condition for the hydrogen production by methane reforming using the compression ignition engine induced partial oxidation. An dedicated compression engine used for methane reforming was decided operating range. The partial oxidation reforming was investigated with oxygen enrichment which can improve hydrogen production, compared to general reforming. Parametric screening studies were achieved as $O_2/CH_4$ ratio, total flow rate, and intake temperature. When the variations of $O_2/CH_4$ ratio, total flow rate, and intake temperature were 1.24, 208.4 L/min, and $400^{\circ}C$, respectively, the maximum operating conditions were produced hydrogen and carbon monoxide. Under the condition mentioned above, synthetic gas were $H_2\;22.77{\sim}29.22%,\;CO\;21.11{\sim}23.59%$.

  • The post injection effect to enhance aftertreatment devices' performance is essential to meet future stringent emission standards by controlling exhaust gas temperature and emission pollutants. The test has been made with commercial common rail diesel engine by post injection manipulation, to optimize exhaust gas temperature while guarantee low fuel penalty. The optimization was done at 1500, 2000 and 2500[rpm] for 2, 4[bar] condition which show low exhaust gas temperature.   • In this paper, a fault detection and isolation unit(FDIU) for a centrifugal pump system driven by DC-motor is proposed. The proposed scheme can be classified into the dedicated observer scheme(DOS). A fuzzy logic based inference engine is adopted for the isolation of each faults. Having the fuzzy inference engine, the proposed FDIU resolve a few important problems of the conventional DOSs with conventional two valued logic. The ouputs of the proposed FDIU are not "ith fault occurred" but the grade of memberships that indicate the consistency of observered symptoms(residuals) with each fault symptoms stored in the rule base. The ouputs can easily be transferred to the ranking of the fault possibilities and it will provide very useful informations in monitoring the process. The simulation results show that the FDIU has very good diagnostic ability even in the noisy environment.

  • This paper introduces the case study of constructing a quest engine system in a commercial online game. The system can help several operations for quests such as modeling and execution with a dedicated script language. Since the many attributes of a quest, including the type or preconditions or execution ordering of quests, could be represented well with the script, game developers can constitute and modify a quest system very easily. Thus it is expected that the quest system introduced in this paper can be a good guideline to the developers of online RPG games.

  • In this paper, design study of a small two-stage launch vehicle is undertaken for the dedicated launch of the Compact Advanced Satellite 500 (CAS500)-class satellite into the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) by modifying the second and third stages of the Korean Space Launch Vehicle II (KSLV-II). Since the KSLV-II has three stages, velocity increment is newly distributed for the two-stage small launch vehicle. For this end, the staging design is carried out for the design parameters such as stage mass ratios, structural coefficients and engine options for each stage followed by trajectory analysis. Investigation of the results provides the combination of design parameters for the small launch vehicle for the dedicated launch of 500 kg-class satellite into LEO.

  • Since no single routing-switching combination performs the best under various different types of applications, a flexible network is required to support a range of polices. This paper introduces an implementation of a look-up table routing engine offering flexible routing and switching polices without performance degradation unlike those based on microprocessors. By deciding contents of look-up tables, the engine can implement wormhole routing, virtual cut-through routing, and packet switching, as well as hybrid switching, under a variety of routing algorithms. Since the routing engine has a piplelined look-up table architecture, the routing delay is as small as one flit, and thus it can overlap multiple routing actions without performance degradation in comparison with hardwired routers dedicated to a specific policy. Because four pipeline stages do not induce a hazard, expensive forwarding logic is not required. The routing engine can accommodate four physical links with a time shared cut-through bus or single link with a cross-bar switch. It is implemented using Xilinx 4000 series FPGA.

  • A program for LAE (liquid Apogee Engine) firing strategy calculation was developed. This program can be used as the first stage of transfer orbit analysis, which process receives input parameters as like initial orbit elements, ground TT&C stations positions, satellite performances and makes firing user-selectable strategies. The developed program is dedicated to GEO satellites which using LAE generally and it can calculate six back-up strategies and deals situation its maximum firing number is six. The MS-EXCEL software was used for the input and output process. And the numerical calculation part was embodied with MATLAB functions.

  • Bimodal tram is designed to run on a dedicated path in automatic mode using a magnetic track system in order to realize a combination of the accessibility of a bus and the constant regularity of a railroad. This paper presents design and test results of the series hybrid propulsion system of the bimodal tram on both test track and public road, which uses CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) engine and Lithium polymer battery pack. This paper describes the real-time data measuring equipment for the series hybrid propulsion system of the bimodal tram. Using this measurement equipment, the performance of the prototype vehicle's driving on test track and public road was verified and the fuel consumption and the efficiency of CNG engine have been investigated.

  • There has been significant increase in demand of launch opportunities from the small satellite sector that represents the new space era. Providing smallsat-dedicated launch service at an affordable price is a new business model many startup companies have pursued, which requires innovative solutions for cost reduction in combination of low cost components, volume production and optimized manufacturing. We set out a preceding study at KARI to develop a suite of critical and cost-cutting technologies in preparation for a two-staged small launch vehicle development, based on the liquid rocket engine technologies developed from the Nuri program in accordance with the 3rd master plan for national space development. In this work, we introduce the concept of a two-staged small launch vehicle that aims to be innovative and cost competitive for small satellites, and describe mission design results including staging as well as overall vehicle configuration of the launch vehicle.
