Irrational ordering decisions of supply chain members have been gaining growing importance in the area of supply chain management. Irrational ordering behaviors that deviate from the profit maximizing decisions in the newsvendor settings have observed with human experiments in recent research. These behaviors can be modeled with several typical decision bias elements. This bias in ordering decisions affects the performance of supply chain contracts designed based on the assumption that the supply chain members make optimal decisions, making it necessary to design supply chain contracts by considering the irrationality. The purpose of this research is to derive a method to design the revenue sharing contract that considers human irrationality in ordering decisions. This research considers a simple two-echelon supply chain consisting of one supplier and one retailer, where the supplier is assumed to be perfectly rational while the retailer making newsvendor type ordering decisions displays irrational ordering behaviors. Under this environment, this research analytically models the revenue sharing contract to maximize the total supply chain profit or the supplier's own profits while considering the three decision bias patterns of the retailer, which include the pull-to-center effect, the prospect theory, and the increased subjective sensitivity to the revenue sharing ratio. Irrationality parameters are measured through human experiments based on which and through numerical simulations, we showed that significant improvements in the supply chain performance can be achieved.
As the need of handling heavy materials increases, various cranes are used in industries. However, the effectiveness of crane also entails industrial accidents such as falling, constriction etc. In fact, the number of fatal accidents caused by crane is still high in Korea. To find out the causes of the accidents in terms of human error, we developed a man-machine system model that consists of two axes; human information processing and crane life cycle. In the human information processing dimension, we simplified it as five functions; sensing and perception, decision making and memory, response etc. In the crane life cycle dimension, we divided it into nine phases; design, production, operation etc. For the 152 fatal accident records during 1999-2006 years, we classified them into 45 cells made by two axes. Then we identified the preceding causes of the classified crane accident based on performance shaping factors. As the results of statistical analysis, the overall trend of crane fatal accidents was described. For the cause analysis, wrong decision making in work plan phase shows the highest frequency. Next, the poor information input in crane operation followed in accident frequency. In ergonomics view, the problems of interface design in displays and controls made 11.8% of fatal accidents. Following the analysis, several ergonomic design guidelines to prevent crane accidents were suggested.
The necessity of imformation on product design process is increased in recently years, because a product can be called a mass of information and becomes more complex as long as technology is developed. But the present product development method is like a relay race. In this sequential process, information is transferred from one department to other departments like \"over the wall\". And communication gaps among departments are generated, so imformation cannot be controlled very well. Therefore it is needed to innovate the design process. The information system proposedin this study is an application software which can be useful for integrated product design process. It has been developed primarily for use in IBN PC and windows environment. It comprises four functional modules; functions of handing the overall project information (document, ideaskech, rendering, drawing); functions of decision making production problems in design project process; functions of groupware which can link with other departments; functions of comprehensive database with production.roduction.
In this study, attempts to analyze the case study of production design were carried out through: 1) exploration of the factors influencing the interface between architectural and production design phases; 2)application of precast technologies. Building design and construction planning in Japan may be characterized by ample use of Production Design which extends over the whole projects phases. Taking a composite construction system for apartment buildings which allow for alternative combination of different technologies as a case study object, three projects have been chosen to analyze actual process of determining product sub-system and their specification. And the expectancies of this paper are that it can be used as efficient data for improvement of system to systematize Constructability(Buildability) in korea.
With a general trend toward larger and more complex systems with centralized control, an operator's role of supervisory decision making in the control room becomes more important. Identification of potential man-machine interface (MMI) problems with CRT-based process control systems was attempted using a structured questionnaire survey. Based on the survey results, a laboratory experiment was carried out to investigate the performance of alarm detection on a process control CRT display. The user performance was measured in terms of reaction time from the onset of an alarm sound until the completion of predefined response procedures. The results revealed that for a highly complex tasks, mean reaction time ($\bar{RT}$) with a color consistent display was 10.5% faster than that with the original display, and $\bar{RT}$ with a grouped display was reduced by 8.2% in comparison with the color consistent display.
Since most human activities in a nuclear power plant are perfirmed in the main control room (MCR), it is important to have its design well human-engineered, both physically and cognitively. Much research efforts have been given for better, operator-centered designs of human-machine interface in MCR capitalizing today's advanced information technology. Korea is among those who are actively expending such research for the next-generation nuclear plants. This paper analyzes two forerunners among the emerging MCR designs, namely Nuplex 80+ and N4, from the perspective of cognitive systems engineering. Since the two show some fundamental differences in their design concepts, the principles with their pros and cons must be enumerated to benefit our own design of new control rooms. This paper also lists many other decision-making points that emerged due to the new availability of cognitively based on cognitive engineering principles. The future scope and directions of related research are suggested.
This paper is concerned with the critical issue of allocating limited corporate resources among multiple products and between production and marketing functions of a functionally decentralized firm where the two geographically remote functions independently make decisions pertaining to their own decision-making domain. We attempt to demonstrate how IT can contribute to enhancing the quality of coordinating production and marketing functions from the perspective of resource allocation. To this end, we propose a prototype named ITBCS (IT-Based Coordination System) that works under LAN supported computing environments. We develop a comprehensive coordination scheme that can handle various cost functions for the resource constrained, multiple product case that huts been tittle discussed in literature. A preliminary version of ITBCS has been implemented for a hypothetical situation where LAN electronically wires distributed marketing and production computing nodes. Managerial implications are also discussed.

In this paper, we propose an emotion recognition method using the facial images and speech signals. Six basic emotions including happiness, sadness, anger, surprise, fear and dislike are investigated. Facia] expression recognition is performed by using the multi-resolution analysis based on the discrete wavelet. Here, we obtain the feature vectors through the ICA(Independent Component Analysis). On the other hand, the emotion recognition from the speech signal method has a structure of performing the recognition algorithm independently for each wavelet subband and the final recognition is obtained from the multi-decision making scheme. After merging the facial and speech emotion recognition results, we obtained better performance than previous ones.
