Social capital is an important resource for Korean immigrant children's successful school life in the U.S. because most immigrants are not familiar to new language and culture. However, immigrant parents and their children have limited ability to join and create social networks freely both inside and outside school. We, the researchers of this study, adopted qualitative research method: open-ended in-depth interview, coding and analysis based on grounded theory. The result of this study reveals that Korean immigrant parents utilize their coethnic networks in getting educational information and English plays important role in educational decision-making process of the parents.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the nursing students' clinical judgment skills in simulation using Tanner's Clinical Judgment Model. Method: Forty-five teams of a total 93 nursing students participated in a post-operative patient care scenario using human patient simulator. Data were collected from students' responses in scenario and guided reflective journaling according to the framework of Tanner's model which comprised noticing, interpreting, responding, and reflecting on response. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: The students' responses of the situation were in accordance with the goals of scenario, i.e. relieving patient' pain and preventing pulmonary complications. However, most of students needed clinical cues and focused on a given clue to solve the issues. They were lack of ability to collect additional information as well as connect the relevant clues in simulated clinical situation. Conclusion: The nursing students have difficulty in what they notice, how they interpret finding, and respond appropriately to the situation. The simulation training using Tanner's model could provide faculty and nursing students with an effective teaching and learning strategy to develop the clinical judgment skills.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the problems and relevant variables for effective Organizational Socialization of new nurses, to produce a causal map, to build up a simulation model and to test its validity. Method: The basic data was collected from Sep. 2002 to July 2003. The Organizational Socialization process of new nurses was analyzed through a model simulation. The VENSIM 5.0b DSS program was used to develop the study model. Result: This Model shows interrelation of these result variables: organizational commitment, job satisfaction, job performance, intention of leaving the work setting, decision making ability, and general results of Organizational Socialization. The model's factors are characteristic of organization and individual values, task-related knowledge and skills, and emotion and communication that affects new nurses' socialization process. These elements go through processes of anticipatory socialization, encounter, change and acquisition. The Model was devised to induce effective Organizational Socialization results within 24 months of its implementation. The basic model is the most efficient and will also contribute to the development of knowledge in the body of nursing. Conclusion: This study will provide proper direction for new Nurse's Organizational Socialization. Therefore, developing an Organizational Socialization Process Model is meaningful in a sense that it could provide a framework that could create effective Organizational Socialization for new nurses.

Air Traffic Control is a job that aptitude is strongly needed. According to this, air traffic controllers have to be chosen and arranged by their duty characteristic. With the development of aviation industry, we need more capable air traffic controllers than before. However, it is true that there is no aptitude test for them in Korea. The world wide trend for air traffic control is changing that decision making and high ability with awareness for solving problem. Therefore the aptitude test is certainly required in order to select suitable people having basic abilities for the duty. This research inquires into the aptitude test which is globally taken because of the reason. And with result of that, inspection list is made for development of a tool for aptitude test which is suitable in Korea and additionally there are some special opinions of experts about the list. It is judged that this research will be based for the development of aptitude test in order to select air traffic controller.

While the goal of new IT adoption in small and medium sized firms is to choose an optimal system to fit with their own environments and conditions, that of IT post-adoption usage is to fully implement new IT and maximize their benefits from it. Therefore, the decision-making environments of new IT adoption is definitely different from those of post-adoption. Also, The direct experience of IT usage can provide some learning effect and the change of users' beliefs on new IT. From this point of view, this study attempts to figure out the differences of influencing factors on IOS usage intention between adopters and non-adopters. The results show that there are clear differences of influencing factors between two groups. Non-adopter group shows that perceived financial cost and ability of use have significant influences on IOS usage intention, while relative advantage and perceived risk in adopter group have statistically significant influences on post-adoption usage of IOS.

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to look into some alternative for Korean shipping to overcome difficult situations in shipping, since then it is economic crisis at the end of 2000s. Research design, data, and methodology - The research method to be adopted is first to review theoretical overview about shipping cycle, and then examine difficult shipping situations and studies management aspect, which is to related to establishment of Korea Shipping Council. Results - The boom and bust situations in shipping market have been identified as result of economic crisis at the end of 2000s. Trade volumes have fallen and shipping tonnage has risen respectively. In practical terms, shipping industry has suffered from difficult situations, following to supply and demand of shipping market, and Korean shipping had to face hard time as well, according to lack of management ability of shipping company. Alternatively, it should be asked shipping forum like Korea Shipping Council. Conclusions - From situations of shipping markets since the end of 2000s, it is strongly asked that every parties got involved in shipping business should understand and share more expertise and knowledge of shipping market, which is finally related to decision- making process in shipping.

Human-Robot interaction (HRI) has recently become one of the most important issues in the field of robotics. Understanding and predicting the intentions of human users is a major difficulty for robotic programs. In this paper we suggest an interaction method allows the robot to execute the human user's desires in an intelligent room-based domain, even when the user does not give a specific command for the action. To achieve this, we constructed a full system architecture of an intelligent room so that the following were present and sequentially interconnected: decision-making based on the Bayesian belief network, responding to human commands, and generating queries to remove ambiguities. The robot obtained all the necessary information from analyzing the user's condition and the environmental state of the room. This information is then used to evaluate the probabilities of the results coming from the output nodes of the Bayesian belief network, which is composed of the nodes that includes several states, and the causal relationships between them. Our study shows that the suggested system and proposed method would improve a robot's ability to understand human commands, intuit human desires, and predict human intentions resulting in a comfortable intelligent room for the human user.

Current cost income is composed of current operating profit and holding gains. There is two viewpoints about the nature of current cost changes: earnings and capital adjustments. The former is based on the financial capital maintenance concept, while the latter is based on the physical capital maintenance concept. Proponents of current cost accounting are convinced that it provides more useful information than conventional accounting. Advocates of financial capital believe that current cost information is needed for management to evaluate their past decisions, and thereby be able to improve their decision-making ability. Defenders of historical cost point out that current cost accounting violates the traditional revenue recognition principle by recognising increases in the value of assets before sales.

should be in English, A make out an economical, reliable and easy to adoptable instrument in turbine discharge measurement was restricted from lots of it's foundational condition. Not with standing the brilliant progress in new technology of these day, useful instrument for flow measurement in turbine is still ongoing. Nowaday, the increasing importance of renewable energy makes it more important that the measuring turbine efficiency as a decision making index of old turbines' replacement. In Turbine performance diagnosis, Kwater(Korea Water Corporation) got an enough ability and decent reputation for who has invested lots of time and effort for buildup and development. In Korea as a public corporation who should take a crucial roll in Turbine business, Kwater has introduced some developed new technology for other domestic concerned one. With this writing, I'd like to introduce ASFM system as a newly developed instrument that can cope with lots restriction in discharge measurement in turbine. Kwater adopted the system in 2005, and performed 2 times of trial test. The test result was good enough to use the system as a reference test method.

As the telecommunication market becomes mature in Korea, severe competition has already begun on the market. While service providers struggled for the last couple of years to acquire as many new customers as possible, nowadays they are making more efforts on retaining the current customers. The churn management by analyzing customers' demographic and transactional data becomes one of the key customer retention strategies which most companies pursue. However, the customer data analysis has still remained at the basic level in the industry, even though it has considerable potential as a tool for understanding customer behavior. This paper develops several churn prediction models using data mining techniques such as logistic regression, decision trees, and neural networks. For model-building, real data were used which were collected from one of the major telecommunication companies in Korea. This paper explores various ways of comparing model performance, while the hit ratio was mainly focused in the previous research. The comparison criteria used in this study include gain ratio, Kolmogorov-Smirnov statistics, distribution of the predicted values, and explanation ability. This paper also suggest some guidance for model selection in applying data mining techniques.
