  • It is very important to select the best alternative for a manufacturing enterprise. However, more often than not this work is carried out unsatisfactorily. In this paper, we will present a new model for evaluating alternatives. Two main results derived from this paper are as follows: 1. A selection model of alternative is suggested that each decision maker's opinion is equally evaluated and the preference of each attribute can also be considered simultaneously. 2. A proposed method is especially effective to analyze a data structure with fuzzy and crisp data.

  • When people choose one way of action from various alternatives, they make value judgement. Due to limited capacity of human information processing, however, a decision maker cannot reflect his true subjective utility in evaluating alternatives especially for a problem which has multiattribute. The analytic hierachy model is a tool which converts scores derived from pairwise comparison with respect to each attribute to overall scores of the alternatives. Then the overall scores are utilized to choose an alternative. Therefore this model can be used to support people's value judgement.

  • The decision maker has the job of torecasting capital investments and operating expenses to aid the decision making in choosing and evaluating present and future alternatives. The estimating function eventually analysis, evaluates and choose the alternatives. The analysis stemmed originally from a preliminary design of some sort, and eventually plans are started to investigate investment possibilites. This study provide the descounted cash flow and the present worth method. Despite any choice of an analytical method, there remains the problem of predicting certain future events. Therefore, these models dealing with optimum plant sizing, equipment replacement, and lease or buy will be discussed.

  • The analytic hierarchy process(AHP) is a multi-criteria decision methodology developed by T. L. Saaty(1980). The AHP presents flexible, easily understood wily to assist the decision-maker in formulating his problem in a logical and rational manner. This paper addresses the concept of AHP and its application in the selection of radioactive waste disposal concept in Korea.

  • Decision Science or Decision Analysis can be described as a scientific methodolog to provide suitable quantitative information for the decision maker to be able to selected the best feasible alternative on the given decision environment and thus we can say that where there are decision problems, there needs the decision analysis to be applied to them. International shipping is generally said to be the cheapest and most widely used means of transport in international trade and each of the hundreds of seaport. So far as the decision makings in the shipping and port transportation are concerned, of real importance is to understand what the decision problems in each of shipping and port transportation really are and to recognize the meaning of relevance between shipping and seaport in the outworn phrase, that is to say, "The chain is as strong as its weakest link." This paper is intended to present a literature survey on the applied decision analysis to shipping and port transportation problems which have actually been involved in the wide variety of decision environment. At first, the author suggests four divisional framework such as decision analysis in each field of Shipping Economics, Management and Operations of Shipping, Port Economics, and Port Operation and Management, according to the main concern of the decision environment, and then the literature surveys on those four major divisions are described including the problems and solution approaches in each case. The author concludes the paper with the comment on the need of joint research around this area by citing the phrase of "a process of updating the decision makers' intuitions."s' intuitions."quot;

  • We face with numerous situation of decision making. In this situation, we would make decision through individual's own information, or others' decision making with ignoring private information, Also we would make decision through compromise of private information and others' information. like this, we call situation to imitate information of previous decision maker, with disregarding private own information,'information cascades' Also, anchoring effects are results of insufficient adjustment from an arbitrary value. In this paper, we examined how information cascades effects and anchoring effects would be generated in the people who use IT technique as instant poll of website. And this paper presents alternatives to decrease information cascades effects and anchoring effects. This exercise provides facts anchoring effects occur when voters can see poll result. And this paper shows that more degree of output difference is deepened, and more anchoring effects occur. Also this paper shows that when website gives positive payoff, more anchoring effects occur.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate and to develop a decision support system for supporting the outworn facility replacement analysis in shipbuilding. This paper also provides an information system which can be effectively applied to various criteria in decision making. The modelbase of decision support system uses the concepts of the analytic hierarchy process along with an appropriate scoring methods. The AHP represents an improvement over other well-known scoring approaches since the criteria weights of priorities established by the AHP are not based on arbitrary scales, but use a ratio scale for human judgements. The proposed methodology in this research enables the decision maker to evaluate the investment alternatives based on qualitative data and quantitative data in a systematic way.

  • The purpose of this paper is to propose a method for selecting the preferred alternatives of Multiple- Attribute Decision-Making(MADM) problem using the Entropy measure. A decision-maker who wants to estimate exactly the weight to be applied to her/his MADM problem is usually confronted with the embarrassing situation where, although there exist a variety of weighting methods, it is hard to find a right procedure to choose a pertinent value To remedy this uncomfortable situation, the Entropy measure commonly used in information theory, Is proposed as a tool that can be used by decision-makers to more efficiently select the preferred alternatives. As a result, the method proposed in the paper can be significant in that relatively easy to understand by decision-makers.

  • Decision making is a function of many variables, but among these, human burden (soft-ware) and machine burden (hard-ware) are critical. Decision Maker is rather concerned with the soft-ware and just wants to have machine calculate the quantitative arithmetic involved in the decision-making study, because he is responsible for that decision whether or not he knows details about the techniques used by his staffs. From the point of these considerations, computer-assisted war game model has its significance in military decision making. The major outcome of this model is time-phased FEBA movement. FEBA is moved mainly by the ratio of the Index of Combat Effectiveness (ICE). To calculate ICE, Ground Forces are concerning the Index of Firepower (IFP) of individual weapons and in the case of Air Force, sorties are allocated into each sector, and added to the Ground Force IFP. With the ratio of total ICE, FEBA is moved according to the War Game Tables and process is repeated after consideration of casualties. This model is used by IBM-370/135 in MND computer room and also tested by IBM-3741/3717 established at ROKA HQ.
