This paper describes an efficient harmonic-CELP speech coder by taking advantages of harmonic and CELP coders into account. According to frame voicing decision, the proposed harmonic-CELP coder adopts the RP-VSELP coder as a fast CELP in case of an unvoiced frame, or an improved harmonic coder in case of a voiced frame. The proposed coder has main features as follows: simple pitch detection, fast harmonic estimation, variable dimension harmonic vector quantization, perceptual weighting reflecting frequency resolution, fast harmonic synthesis, naturalness control using band voicing, and multi-mode. These features make the proposed coder require very low complexity, compared with HVXC coder To demonstrate the performance of the proposed coder, a 2.4 kbps coder has been implemented and compared with reference coders. From results of informal listening tests, the proposed coder showed good quality while requiring low delay and complexity.

Purpose: Once the decision has been made to adopt an integrated medical information system (IMIS), there are a number of issues to overcome. Users need to be aware of the impact the change will make on end users and be prepared to address issues that arise before they become problems. The purpose of this study is to investigate the benefits and unexpected problems encountered in the implementation of IMIS and to determine a useful framework for IMIS. Materials and Methods: The Yonsei University Dental Hospital is steadily constructing an IMIS. The vendor's PACS software, Piview STAR, supports transactions between workstations that are approved to integrating the healthcare enterprise (IHE) with security function. It is necessary to develop an excellent framework that is good for the patient, healthcare provider and information system vendors, in an expert, efficient, and cost-effective manner. Results : The problems encountered with IMIS implementation were high initial investments, delay of EMR enforcement, underdevelopment of digital radiographic appliances and software and insufficient educational training for users. Conclusions: The clinical environments of dental IMIS is some different from the medical situation. The best way to overcome these differences is to establish a gold standard of dental IMIS integration, which estimates the cost payback. The IHE and its technical framework are good for the patient, the health care provider and all information systems vendors.

There have been certain extent of material inventory in construction site because of difficulties in ordering by small quantity, strategy of securing future requirements and prevention of delay. However, carrying these inventory entails a financial cost called inventory holding cost and decrease construction productivity, so proper inventory management in construction industry is important for construction efficiency and cost reduction. This study tries to find analytical method of inventory management. It includes ordering decision which decide how much to order and when to order. Setting these strategies including deciding safety inventory, input and ouput variability are able to controled.

Recently, SDN and NFV technology have been developed actively and provide enormous flexibility of network provisioning. The future network services would generally involve many different types of services such as hologram games, social network live streaming videos and cloud-computing services, which have dynamic service requirements. To provision networks for future services dynamically and efficiently, SDN/NFV orchestrators must clearly understand the service requirements. Currently, network provisioning relies heavily on QoS parameters such as bandwidth, delay, jitter and throughput, and those parameters are necessary to describe the network requirements of a service. However it is often difficult for users to understand and use them proficiently. Therefore, in order to maintain interoperability and homogeneity, it is required to have a service abstraction layer between users and orchestrators. The service abstraction layer analyzes ambiguous user's requirements for the desired services, and this layer generates corresponding refined services requirements. In this paper, we present our initial effort to design a Smart Service Abstraction Layer (SmSAL) for future network architecture, which takes advantage of machine learning method to analyze ambiguous and abstracted user-friendly input parameters and generate corresponding network parameters of the desired service for better network provisioning. As an initial proof-of-concept implementation for providing viability of the proposed idea, we implemented SmSAL with a decision tree model created by learning process with previous service requests in order to generate network parameters related to various audio and video services, and showed that the parameters are generated successfully.
The contention overhead on the same channel in an NoC architecture can significantly increase a communication delay due to the simultaneous communication requests that occur. To reduce the overall overhead, we propose task-to-tile binding techniques for an NoC-based manycore platform, whereby it is assumed that the task mapping decision has already made. Since the NoC architecture may have multiple memory tiles as its size grows, memory clustering is used to balance the load of memory by making applications access different memory tiles. We assume that the information on the communication overhead of each application is known since it is specified in a dataflow task graph. Using this information, this paper proposes two heurisitics that perform binding of multiple tasks at once based on a proper memory clustering method. Experiments with an NoC simulator prove that the proposed heurisitic shows performance gains that are 25% greater than that of the previous binding heuristic.

Patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) has been widely used for postoperative pain control in medical surgery parts. Conventional intramuscular analgesia (IMA) is also effective in postoperative pain control, but it has some disadvantages that depend on patients' perception of pain and the anxiety that they endure caused by the delay of the injection time. This study was conducted to assess the efficacy and postoperative outcomes of intravenous PCA compared to IMA injections in 36 patients (BSSRO). Three factors were compared: amount of pain in PCA and IMA group ; amount of pain according to the sex in PCA and IMA group and the amount of pain according to the analgesia use. Results of this study did not demonstrate a statistically significant difference in any of these, using a p value of 0.05. The results of this study were as follows. : 1. There was no statistically significant difference in VAS pain score between IMA group and PCA group. 2. There was no statistically significant difference according to the sex. 3. There was no statistically significant difference according to the amount of PCA. The history of PCA is about 30 years and many literatures have reported about its effects, complications, methods, advantages and disadvantages. So, this study has some limitations of small sample size to conclude the effects of PCA. But when the decision about the method for postoperative pain control has to be made, it should be made based on patient or physician preference and cost factors rather than on the trend.
In this paper, we propose an equalizer to minimize the inter-symbol interference when PSSK(Phase Silence Shift Keying) technique is applied to the low power underwater acoustic communication. PSSK is a QPSK(Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) modulation combined with PPM(Pulse Position Modulation), and it was proposed for low power communication. However, it has poor performance due to delay spread of underwater channel. In this paper, we propose a decision feedback equalizer to minimize the error in PSSK receiver. The sea trial was performed to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. In the result, the BER of PSSK was $4.36{\times}10^{-2}$ before the equalizer was applied, but the BER of PSSK was $3.95{\times}10^{-4}$ after the proposed equalizer was applied.

This paper focuses on dispatching strategy for AGVs(Automated Guided Vehicle). The goal of AGV dispatching problem is allocating jobs to AGVs to minimizing QC delay and AGV total travel distance. Due to the highly dynamic nature of container terminal environment, the effect of dispatching is hard to predict thus it leads to frequent modification of dispatching results. Given this situation, single rule-based approach is widely used due to its simplicity and small computational cost. However, single rule-based approach has a limitation that cannot guarantee a satisfactory performance for the various performance measures. In this paper, dispatching strategy based on multicriteria heuristics is proposed. Proposed strategy consists of multiple decision criteria. A muti-objective evolutionary algorithm is applied to optimize weights of those criteria. The result of simulation experiment shows that the proposed approach outperforms single rule-based dispatching approaches.
While demands for express service are rapidly increasing according to recent progress of electronic commerce, express service companies are struggling to take a larger delivery service market share through ongoing improvement in their service processes. Extension of cut-off time for express service centers can provide the express company with increase of total sales, but it may also cause to increase the possibility not to satisfy customer needs due to work delay in the consolidation terminal. Therefore, compromised decision for cut-off time of each service center should be made by taking operation characteristics of the consolidation terminal into account. This study suggests an approach for determining the cut-off time for express service centers according to operational characteristics of the consolidation terminal with the objective of maximizing expected incremental sales. The problem defined in this study can be represented as two successive models; one is an integer programing model in which the best cut-off time for each sales center are determined, and the other is a single machine scheduling model in which a working schedule in the consolidation terminal is obtained. A genetic algorithm is developed to solve the two models simultaneously. Finally, an example problem is carried out to verify applicability and performance of the algorithm with the data set collected from an express company.

In the realization of a high speed digital transmission over several tens kbps in mobile communications, it follow delay distortion on a count of transmission path variation by multipath interference waves. Therefore it is inevitably necessary to establish the techniques overcoming the frequency selective fading. In this paper, a feedback running RLS algorithm which is improved the RLS algorithm using exponential weighting factor, is proposed for the control algorithm of DFE and by the computer simulation method, and the performance characteristics of DFE is analyzed for the one-ray and two-ray waves model under the random Gaussian noise. The computer simulation results of proposed RLS algorithm for the $\pi$/4QPSK signal with one symbol time delayed interference signal of S/I = 20[dB], under the S/N = 10[dB] with $\lambda$= 0.9 showed excellent following characteristics and equalization characteristics.
