  • Background: To determine the amount of co-expression of IDO and EGFR in breast cancer patients. Materials and Methods:In order to obtain the distribution of co-expression of IDO and EGFR in breast cancer, we tested 110 breast cancer paraffin tissue blocks with immunohistochemical methods. Then we investigated the relationship between the diagnostic and pathologic characteristics (tumor size, lymph node status, histologic grade, the gene expression of ER, PR, HER2, p53, Ki67 and PCNA) with the situation of co-expression of IDO and EGFR by reviewing the medical records of 32 breast cancer patients. Results: Among 110 breast cancers, 32 cases demonstrated IDO and EGFR co-expression (29.1%), IDO and EGFR synchronous co-expression being found in 19.1% and asynchronous in 10.0%. Conclusions: IDO and EGFR were co-expressed in breast cancer, including synchronous and asynchronous co-expression. The results suggest that considering IDO and EGFR as two indicators for breast cancer treatment or prognosis analysis provides a potential option of individual treatment for the portion of breast cancer patients with co-expression of IDO and EGFR.

  • One pilumnoid, Neoactumnus convexus Sakai, 1965, and three xanthoids, Lybia caestifera (Alcock, 1898), Atergatopsis germaini A. Milne-Edwards, 1865, and Platypodia tomentosa (De Man, 1902), are newly recorded in Korean fauna. Korean pilumnoids and xanthoids now consist of fifteen species and twenty species, respectively.

  • A stilt crab Crossotonotus spinipes (De Man, 1888) is newly reported from Korean waters as a result of continuous taxonomic studies on crabs. The present specimen has a row of tubercles and a longitudinal lobe with denticles on the dorsal border of the propodus of the chelipeds, and a shorter Pereopod 5. The description and illustration of this species are provided.

  • The color shifting from yellow to green of electroluminescent emission from ZnS: Cu alternating current thick film electroluminescent (ACTFEL) devices has been achieved by changing the Mg composition in the phosphor layers. The commission international de l'Eclairge (CIE) color co-ordinates of the ACTFEL devices prepared from these phosphor layers show a shifting from yellow (x=0.45, y=0.52) towards green (x=0.36, y=0.58). The various parameters influencing the emission intensity were also investigated.

  • The object of the present paper is to study generalized Z-recurrent manifolds. Some geometric properties of generalized Z-recurrent manifolds have been studied under certain curvature conditions. Finally, we give an example of a generalized Z-recurrent manifold.

  • This paper describes the design of a variable rate QPSK demodulator for digital satellite TV system. This true variable-rate demodulator employs a unique architecture to realize an all digital synchronization and detection algorithm. Data-flow based design approach enabled a seamless transition from high level design optimization to physical layout. The demodulator has been integrated with Viterbi decoder, de-interleaver, and Ree-Solomon decoder to make a single chip Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) receiver. The receiver IC has been fabricated with a 0.5mm CMOS TLM process and proved fully functional in a real-world set-up.
