  • Information security is becoming a more important factor in distribution of digital contents. Generally, illegal facsimile of high-quality multimedia products such as DVDs, MP3s and AACs is possible without damaging quality. Thus, the illegal distribution of duplicated contents on the Web is causing digital content providers great economic loss. Therefore, a study of security and efficient distribution of digital contents is required. The most important issues in the design of a digital content distribution system are user convenience, execution speed and security. In this study, we designed a digital contents distribution system that uses web caching technology and encryption/decryption techniques in hierarchical structures. We propose a digital content distribution system that improves user convenience, security and execution speed. The superior performance of the proposed system has been proven in the tests. The results of experiment show that the developed system has improved the security of DC without decreasing process speed.

  • Recently, the protection coordination method of DC systems has been presented because renewable energy and distributed resources are being installed and operated in distribution systems. On the other hand, it is difficult to detect ground faults because there is no significant difference compared to a steady-state current in ungrounded IT systems, such as DC load networks and urban railways. Therefore, this paper formulates the detection principle of IMD (Insulation Monitoring Device) to use it as a protection coordination device in a DC system. Based on the signal injection method of IMD, which is analyzed by a wavelet transform, this paper presents an algorithm of detecting ground faults in a DC system in a fast and accurate manner. In addition, this paper modeled an IMD and an ungrounded DC system using the PSCAD/EMTDC S/W and performed numerical analysis of a wavelet transform with the Matlab S/W. The simulation results of a ground fault case in an ungrounded DC system showed that the proposed algorithm and modeling are useful and practical tools for detecting a ground fault in a DC system.

  • Unbundled power quality service is paid much attention under the circumstances of deregulation and diversification of needs of customers for quality and price of electric power. Moreover, distributed generators (DGs) such as photovoltaic generations and wind turbines will be introduced to distribution system more and more, and reverse flow of active power has possibility to cause new problems in the distribution system such as voltage rise of distribution line and protection problem. Flexible, Reliable and Intelligent Electrical eNergy Delivery System, which is called FRIENDS, has been proposed as one of promising distribution system for such requirements, and intensive studies are under way. One of features of the system is introducing Quality Control Center (QCC) into the system for unbundled power quality service and easy installation of DGs. Two types of QCCs for such purposes are proposed, and simulation results are shown in this paper.

  • Converter transformer is the key equipment of high voltage direct current transmission system. The solid suspending particles originating from the process of installation and operation of converter transformer have significant influence on the insulation performance of transformer oil, especially in presence of DC component in applied voltage. Under high electric field, the particles easily lead to partial discharge and breakdown of insulating oil. This paper investigated copper particle effect on the breakdown voltage of transformer oil at combined AC and DC voltage. A simulation model with single copper particle was established to interpret the particle effect on the breakdown strength of insulating oil. The experimental and simulation results showed that the particles distort the electric field. The breakdown voltage of insulating oil contaminated with copper particle decreases with the increase of particle number, and the breakdown voltage and the logarithm of particle number approximately satisfy the linear relationship. With the increase of the DC component in applied voltage, the breakdown voltage of contaminated insulating oil decreases. The simulation results show that the particle collides with the electrode more frequently with more DC component contained in the applied voltage, which will trigger more discharge and decrease the breakdown voltage of insulating oil.

  • This paper describes the operational analysis results of a DC micro-grid using a detailed model of distributed generation. A detailed model of wind power generation, photo-voltaic generation and fuel cell generation was implemented with an userdefined model created with PSCAD/EMTDC software and coded in C-language. The operational analysis was carried out using PSCAD/EMTDC software, in which the power circuit is implemented by a built-in model and the controller is modeled by an user-defined model that is also coded in C-language. Various simulation results confirm that a DC micro-grid can operate without any problems in both the grid-tied mode and in the islanded mode. The operational analysis results confirm that the DC micro-grid makes it feasible to provide power to the load stably. It can also be utilized to develop an actual system design.

  • The space charge behaviors of oil-paper insulation affect the stability and security of oil-filled converter transformers of traditional and new energies. This paper presents the results of the electrical aging of oil-impregnated paper under AC-DC combined voltages by the pulsed electro-acoustic technique. Data mining and feature extractions were performed on the influence of electrical aging on charge dynamics based on the experiment results in the first stage. Characteristic parameters such as total charge injection and apparent charge mobility were calculated. The influences of electrical aging on the trap energy distribution of an oil-paper insulation system were analyzed and discussed. Longer electrical aging time would increase the depth and energy density of charge trap, which decelerates the apparent charge mobility and increases the probability of hot electron formation. This mechanism would accelerate damage to the cellulose and the formation of discharge channels, enhance the acceleration of the electric field distortion, and shorten insulation lifetime under AC-DC combined voltages.

  • This paper proposes an optimal current distribution method of dual-rotor brushless DC machines (DR-BLDCMs) which have inner and outer surface-mounted permanent-magnet rotors. The DR-BLDCM has high power density and high torque density compare to the conventional single rotor BLDCM. To drive the DR-BLDCM, dual 3-phase PWM inverters are required to excite the currents of a dual stator of the DR-BLDCM and an optimal current distribution algorithm is also needed to enhance the system efficiency. In this paper, the copper loss and the switching loss of a DR-BLDCM drive system are analyzed according to the motor parameters and the switching frequency. Moreover, the optimal current distribution method is proposed to minimize the total electrical loss. The validity of the proposed method was verified through several experiments.

  • In this paper, the new method which is monitoring quantity of particles using by ion-counter has been developed. ISPM system is composed by Gerdien type ion-counter (house-made), DC power supply and electrometer. Ion-counter applied positive voltage could detect only positive charged particles. Therefore charged particles to Boltzmann equilibrium distribution or to some identified charge distribution can be detected by ion-counter. Ion-counter could install on the exhaust line of process equipment since pressure loss is structurally low. ISPM system has been certified by comparison with the result of SMPS (Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer) system. The relation coefficiency is above 0.98 about $20{\sim}300nm$ particles with identified charge distribution under $0.1{\sim}10.0$ Torr.
