  • The main contribution of this paper is to propose the integrated database schema from several research projects included in "The Next Generation New Technology for Rock-falling and Landsliding Project". Furthermore this paper describes the development of integrated standard database system for the slopes databases. We also develop and implement the global real time web service system in order to provide one-stop data service for the slopes. In this paper, the new integrated database paradigm for rock-fall and landsliding data is designed and proposed and also data management system is developed based on the global web service system.

  • A field study was conducted during the summer time of 2002 to determine compositions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted from vehicles and to develop source emission profiles that is applied to CMB model to estimate the source contribution of certain area. Source emission profile is widely used for the estimation of source contribution by the chemical mass balance model and have to be developed applicable for the target area of estimation. This study was aimed to develop source emission profile and estimation of source contribution of VOCs after application of the chemical mass balance (CMB) receptor model. After considering the emission inventory and other research results for the VOCs in Seoul, Korea, the sources like vehicle emission (tunnel), gas station (gasoline, diesel), solvent usage (painting operation, dry cleaning, graphic art), and gas fuels were selected for the major VOCs sources. Furthermore, ambient air samples were simultaneously collected from 09:00 to 11:00 for four days at eight different official air quality monitoring sites as receptors in Seoul during summer of 2001. Source samples were collected by canisters, and then about seventy volatile organic compounds were analyzed by gas chromatography with flame ionization detector (GC/FID). Based on both the developed source profiles and the database of the receptors, CMB model was intensively applied to estimate mass contribution of VOCs sources. Examining the source profile from the vehicle, the portion of alkanes of VOCs was highest, and then the portion of aromatics such toluene, m/p-xylene were followed. In case of gas fuel. they have their own components; the content of butane, propane, ethane was higher than any other component according to the fuel usage. The average of the source apportionment on VOCs for 8 sites showed that the major sources were vehicle emission and gas fuels. The vehicle emission source was revealed as having the highest contribution with an average of 49.6%, and followed by solvent with 21.3%, gas fuel with 16.1%, gasoline with 13.1%.

  • While the role of local community is getting important in reducing greenhouse gases, current financial supports have not considered these efforts. Instead, development activities have been the only basis of fiscal distribution, which have led to unsustainable development. In this context, this paper analyzes the emission and absorb of air pollutants by local districts in Daegu Metropolitan city and constructs an empirical energy database for local energy use and environmental emissions. Based on the data, it prioritized environmental contribution by region through using MCDM methods, that include maximin & maximax method, simple additive weighting (SAW) and hierarchical additive weighting method (HAW). This concludes the possibility of policy methodology through which we can input environmental variables in distributing local budget.

  • In this paper, we propose a new batter evaluation model that reflects the skill of the opponent pitcher in Korean professional baseball. The model consists of evaluation factors such as Run Value, Contribution Score and Ball Consumption considering the pitcher grade. These evaluation factors are calculated as different data. In order to include the evaluation factors having different characteristics into one model, each evaluation factor is weighted and added. The genetic algorithms were used to calculate the weights, and the data were based on the 2016 records of Korea Professional Baseball and the salary data of the players of 2017. As a result of calculation of the weight, the weight of the Run Value was high and the weight of the Contribution Score was very low. This means that when calculating the annual salary, it reflects much of the expected score according to the batting result of the batter. On the other hand, the contribution score indicating the degree to which the batting result contributed to the victory of the team according to the state of the economy is not reflected in the salary or point system.

  • There have been many studies to improve the performance of a database system focused on modifying data structure, data partitioning, and materializing strategy. The main contribution of this study is to propose a new alternative towards improving database performance by designing single table schema or processing queries virtually in main memory space. Material Requirement Planning(MRP) part explosion process has shown almost 2 times shorter under DB schema we suggested, and even more than 10 times shorter when separating and filtering policy of DB archiving process are assumed. Several experimental results are shown to illustrate the excellence of our solution.

  • CARNAC is a procedure for obtaining quantitative analysis of a sample by comparison of the NIR spectra of the unknown sample with a database of a large number of samples with NIR spectral and compositional data. The method depends on the compression of the NIR database followed by a modification of the compressed data which emphasizes the required analyte. The method identifies a few very similar samples and the value of the required analyte is calculated from a weighed average of the analyte values for the selected similar samples. The method was originally described at Chambersburg IDRC in 1986 and in the Proceedings of the FT Conference of 1987. This contribution will describe recent work on utilising new methods for both compression and modification.

  • In this paper a data replicator scheme with a distributed join architecture is suggested with its cost functions and the performance results. The contribution of this scheme is not only minimizing the number of base relation locks in distributed database tables but also reducing the remote transmission amount remarkably, which will be able to embellish the distributed databse system practical. The differential files that are derived from the active log of the DBMS are mainly forcing the scheme to reduce the number of base relation locks. The amount of transportation between relevant sites could be curtailed by the tuple reduction procedures. Then we prescribe an algorithm of data replicator with its cost function and show the performance results compared with the semi-join scheme in their distributed environments.

  • Previous research efforts on performance evaluation of multidimensional indexes typically have used synthetic data sets distributed uniformly or normally over multidimensional space. However, recent research research result has shown that these hinds of data sets hardly reflect the characteristics of multimedia database applications. In this paper, we discuss issues on generating high dimensional data and query sets for resolving the problem. We first identify the features of the data and query sets that are appropriate for fairly evaluating performances of multidimensional indexes, and then propose HDDQ_Gen(High-Dimensional Data and Query Generator) that satisfies such features. HDDQ_Gen supports the following features : (1) clustered distributions, (2) various object distributions in each cluster, (3) various cluster distributions, (4) various correlations among different dimensions, (5) query distributions depending on data distributions. Using these features, users are able to control tile distribution characteristics of data and query sets. Our contribution is fairly important in that HDDQ_Gen provides the benchmark environment evaluating multidimensional indexes correctly.

  • Indoor positioning system becomes of increasing interests due to the demands for accurate indoor location information where Global Navigation Satellite System signal does not approach. Wi-Fi access points (APs) built in many construction in advance helps developing a Wi-Fi Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) based indoor localization. This localization method first collects pairs of position and RSSI measurement set, which is called fingerprint database, and then estimates a user's position when given a query measurement set by comparing the fingerprint database. The challenge arises from nonlinearity and noise on Wi-Fi RSSI measurements and complexity of handling a large amount of the fingerprint data. In this paper, machine learning techniques have been applied to implement Wi-Fi based localization. However, most of existing indoor localizations focus on single position estimation. The main contribution of this paper is to develop multi-target localization by using deep neural, which is beneficial when a massive crowd requests positioning service. This paper evaluates the proposed multilocalization based on deep learning from a multi-story building, and analyses its learning effect as increasing number of target positions.

  • The objective of the study is to develop a variety of different indices based upon the detailed data obtained through the computer input/analysis program developed recently. Through this new program, all the activities of players can be recorded on a real time basis and they can be analyzed statistically with different types of outputs. Therefore in this research, with the help of the database program, we will develop the indices for teamwork, goal making ability, offense/defense ability, individual player's contribution to the game, and various game related performances.
