  • Internet accessibility has been growing due to the diffusion of smartphones in today's society. Therefore, people can generate data anywhere and are confronted with the challenge that they should process a large amount of data. Since the appearance of relational database management system (RDBMS), most of the recent information systems are built by utilizing it. RDBMS uses foreign-keys to avoid data duplication. The transactions in the database use attributes, such as atomicity, consistency, isolation, durability (ACID), which ensures that data integrity and processing results are stably managed. The characteristic of RDBMS is that there is high data reliability. However, this results in performance degradation. Meanwhile, from among these information systems, some systems only require high-performance rather than high reliability. In this case, if we only consider performance, the use of NoSQL provides many advantages. It is possible to reduce the maintenance cost of the information system that continues to increase in the use of open source software based NoSQL. And has a huge advantage that is easy to use NoSQL. Therefore, in this study, we prove that the leverage of NoSQL will ensure high performance than RDBMS by applying NoSQL to database systems that implement RDBMS.

  • For the safe management of nuclear facilities, including a radioactive waste repository, data about the facility site and the surrounding environment must be collected and managed systematically. This is particularly true for a radwaste repository, which has to be institutionally controlled for a long period after closure. The objectives of this study are (1) to establish a systematical management plan for information about a radwaste repository site and its environment, and (2) to design a database management program for this information, based on the Relative Database Management System (RDBMS). The spatial data are designed by the geodatabase, which is a new object, based on the RDBMS, to manage spatial information related to the database. To meet this requirement, a new program called 'Site Information and Total Environmental data management System (SITES)' is being developed. The scope that produced from the first step of the present study for development of the SITES is introduced. The database is designed to combine spatial and attribute data, and is designed for the establishment of the Geographic Information System (GIS). The hardware and software systems are designed with consideration given to the total data management of the items within the radioactive environment.

  • Many photovoltaic(PV) systems are being developed and installed. For a PV developer, simulations are required before the experimental testing. However, most simulation tools do not offer data libraries for PV systems, so that some Institutes who try to use such software will be in difficulty. In this paper, simulations of performance and stability have been carried out using the software PSPICE. In this paper, the modelling of solar cell arrays, photovoltaic modules, PV generators, batteries and drive systems is carried out based on mathematical equivalence circuits and available data, and the models are converted into a data library for PSPICE that is user friendly. System variations can be modeled by simple parameter variation. To verify the accuracy of the simulation library, various models were run and compared to known systems.

  • When decommissioning nuclear power plant (NPP), the first task performed is cost estimation. This is an important task in terms of securing adequate decommissioning funds and managing the schedule. Therefore, many countries and institutions are conducting continuous research and also developing and using many programs for cost estimation. However, the cost estimated for decommissioning an NPP typically differs from the actual cost incurred in its decommissioning. This is caused by insufficient experience in decommissioning NPPs or lack of decommissioning cost data. This uncertainty in cost estimation can be in general compensated for by applying a contingency. However, reflecting an appropriate standard for the contingency is also difficult. Therefore, in this study, data analysis was conducted based on the contingency guideline suggested by each institution and the actual cost of decommissioning the NPP. Subsequently, TLG Service, Inc.'s process, which recently suggested specific decommissioning costs, was matched with ISDC (International Structure for Decommissioning Costing)'s work breakdown structure (WBS). Based on the matching result, the guideline for applying the contingency for ISDC's WBS Level 1 were presented. This study will be helpful in cost estimation by applying appropriate contingency guidelines in countries or institutions that have no experience in decommissioning NPPs.

  • This study is to find a method to learn engine sound after the start-up of a diesel generator installed in nuclear power plant with an unsupervised deep learning algorithm (CNN autoencoder) and a new method to predict the failure of a diesel generator using it. In order to learn the sound of a diesel generator with a deep learning algorithm, sound data recorded before and after the start-up of two diesel generators was used. The sound data of 20 min and 2 h were cut into 7 s, and the split sound was converted into a spectrogram image. 1200 and 7200 spectrogram images were created from sound data of 20 min and 2 h, respectively. Using two different deep learning algorithms (CNN autoencoder and binary classification), it was investigated whether the diesel generator post-start sounds were learned as normal. It was possible to accurately determine the post-start sounds as normal and the pre-start sounds as abnormal. It was also confirmed that the deep learning algorithm could detect the virtual abnormal sounds created by mixing the unusual sounds with the post-start sounds. This study showed that the unsupervised anomaly detection algorithm has a good accuracy increased about 3% with comparing to the binary classification algorithm.

  • Single domain model like DataLake framework is in spotlight because it can improve data efficiency and process data smarter in big data environment, where large scaled business system generates huge amount of data. In particular, efficient operation of network, storage, and computing resources in logical single domain model is very important for physically partitioned multi-site data process. Based on the advantages of Data Lake framework, we define and extend the concept of Connected Data Architecture and functions of DataLake framework for integrating multiple sites in various domains and managing the lifecycle of data. Also, we propose the design of CDA-based AI service and utilization scenarios in various application domain.

  • This study extends the previous research into the effects of knowledge spillovers on innovation and regional exports growth by more clearly distinguishing, both theoretically and empirically, two different types of knowledge spillovers, namely product and market knowledge spillovers. More importantly, this research provides insights on their role of knowledge spillovers in shaping regional innovative activities and, eventually, regional export growths. Furthermore, this research makes an important contribution to the understudied market knowledge spillovers by developing two variables that could be used to assess the flow of market knowledge spillovers at the regional level: localization economies and export consulting advice. Using secondary data on eight 2-digit manufacturing industries in ten New Zealand regions over a seven year period, this research found that regional competition, localization economies and the availability of export consulting advice have positively and significantly impact on the regional export growth in New Zealand.

  • Purpose - The research aim is to shed empirical light on whether quality-focused retailer brands such as Premium brand of Tesco Korea, Prime of Lotte Mart, and Best of E-Mart in the grocery market, make a contribution to developing store loyalty in the Korean market particularly. Research design, data, methodology - After developing sixconstructs, such as higher quality, stock availability, price levels, national brands, retailer brand attitudes, and store loyalty, the authors adopted exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, chi-square test and structural equation modelling as a research technique. Results - It was found that higher quality strongly influences the retailer brand attitude formation, and that retailer brand customers were sensitive to price levels. Buyers are, nevertheless, relatively less aware of price levels, when purchasing quality-oriented retailer brand types. Conclusions - The research implied that quality-oriented retailer brand types make a significant contribution to retailer brands attitude formation, and further, building store loyalty.

  • Engineered barrier test facility is specially designed to demonstrate the performance of engineered barrier system for the near-surface disposal facility under the domestic environmental conditions. Comprehensive measurement systems for the water content, temperature, matric potential are installed within each test cell. In this study, short-term monitoring of the behavior of multi-layered cover system is implemented with artificial rainfall system. The periodic measurement data are collected and analyzed by a dedicated database management system, and provide a basis for performance verification of the disposal cover design.
