  • In this paper, the Packet CDMA Reservation ALOHA protocol is proposed to support the multi-traffic services such as voice and videophone services with handoff calls, high-rate data and low-rate data services efficiently on the multi-rate transmission in uplink cellular systems. The frame structure, composed of the access slot and the transmission slot, and the proposed access permission probability based on the estimated number of contending users for each service are presented to reduce MAI. The assured priority to the voice and the videophone handoff calls is given through higher access permission probability. And through the proposed code assignment scheme, the voice service can be provided without the voice packet dropping probability in the CDMA/PRMA protocols. The code reservation is allowed to the voice and the videophone services. The low-rate data service uses the available codes during the silent periods of voice calls and the remaining codes in the codes assigned to the voice service to utilize codes efficiently. The high-rate data service uses the assigned codes to the high-rate data service and the remaining codes in the codes assigned to the videophone service. Using the Markov-chain subsystem model for each service including the handoff calls in uplink cellular systems, the steady-state performances are simulated and analyzed. After a round of tests for the examples, through the proposed code assignment scheme and the access permission probability, the Packet CDMA Reservation ALOHA protocol can guarantee the priority and the constant QoS for the handoff calls even at large number of contending users. Also, the data services are integrated efficiently on the multi-rate transmission.

  • In this paper, we have proposed a method which can make it possible to stably transmit and receive data like the ARC-164 radio frequency hopping environment as a S/W packet modem with PSK modulation. This is a method that the S/W packet modem with PSK digital modulation and the use of PC sound cards change over from data to voice signals and then transmit/receive data. We confirmed not only that it is possible to solve the slow speed communication with the use of sending data through multi-channels and PSK modulation that has the ability to methodically improve transmission rates, but also that it is possible to send the state of frequency hopping stably. In conclusion, we've confirmed both tactical values that though the transmission rate may be a tad slow, a state of frequency hopping of more than 94% confidence plus voice and data can be sent via radio at the same time. In this paper, the proposed S/W packet modem is only an implemented S/W component, so when we apply it to aircraft that we don't consider EMC problems with, then we have the advantage of a wider use of conventional UHF/VHF/HF radio that is possible to voice communication. If we recognize these operational requirements, we can apply for a lot of field equipment efficiently.

  • WBAN(Wireless Body Area Network) is network to support medical and non-medical services. It is susceptible to loss and delay of data. WBAN is required to satisfy many kinds of demands such as a variety of data rate and a data priority for providing various service. In this paper scheduling algorithm, considering a data priority and transmission delay time, is proposed to improve service quality of WBAN. The proposed algorithm operates by allocating a channel to a flow with longer transmission delay. When a packet, in a queue of herb, is left within a certain period, the packet is assigned a channel and transmitted according to a data priority. Through the comparison with other existing scheduling algorithms, it is confirmed that QoS is improved due to higher arrival probability of medical data and less delay time in the proposed algorithm.

  • In this paper, the new scheme using a Combined Cache(CC) that combing the Paging and Routing Cache(PRC) and an alternative handoff method according to the type of data transmission for achieving the efficient realtime communication. The PRC and quasi-soft handoff method reduce the path duplication. But they increase the network traffic load because of the handoff state packet of Mobile Host(MH). Moreover the use the same handoff method without differentiating the type of transmission data. Those problems are solved by operating U with a semi-soft handoff method for realtime data transmission and with a hard handoff method for non-realtime data transmission. As a result or simulation a better performance is obtained because of the reduction of the number of control packet in case that the number of cells are below 20. And the packet arrival time and loss of packet decreased significantly for realtime data transmission.

  • In this paper, end-to-end performances for some VoIP traffics are measured and analyzed over MANET(Mobile Ad-hoc Networks) with packet aggregation transmission under blackhole attacks. A VoIP simulator based on NS-2 is used for performance measure. In the simulation, MOS, call connection ratio, network delay and packet loss rate are measured for end-to-end transmission performance. With analysis of measured data, characteristics of each traffics for performance parameters of packet aggregation transmission is showed on MANET under blackhole attack, As a results of this paper, some considerations be required for packet aggregation transmission are suggested to implement VoIP services on MANET under blackhole attacks.

  • The IPv6 was suggested as an ultimate solution of problems that IPv4 protocol maintains limitations to apply to new technology of data service and the lack of IPv4 address space. So it is expected to transfer IPv4 to IPv6 gradually. In the Ipv6 environment, it is easier to apply security policies and transmits a secure packet applied the security policies, with the content in the Header itself. By this reason, this paper describes about the implementation of DHCPv6 server to perform a connection of IPv6 network and IPv4 network, and the application of secure packet with the security policies for clients. Further, it performs the process of the massages inside the DHCPv6 server to be used in the IPv6 environment in the future.

  • This paper proposes an implementation of a hardware module for transmitting MPEG-2 TS data over the internet protocol (IP)-based network. This implementation consists of two modules; one is an encapsulation module which bridges between n TS packets, where $1\;{\leq}\;n\;{\leq}\;7$, and an IP packets, the other is a packet conversion module which extracts an DSM-CC PS packet from consecutive TS packets and then reconstructing an IP packet. So, these IP packets are carried over 150 megabits per second. Although overall work flow of the proposed DeMUX is based on the reference design of ALTERA, the DeMUX is enhanced by modifying it and performs more functions by adding a packet conversion module. The DeMUX is described by Verilog-HDL (hardware description language) and shows the faithful functionality and throughput through the simulation.

  • A basic access method about IEEE 802.11 MAC layer protocol using IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs is the DCF thatis based on the CSMA/CA. But, cause of IEEE 802.11 MAC layer uses original backoff algorithm (exponential backoff method), when collision occurred, the size of contention windows increases the double size Also, a time of packet transmission delay increases and efficienty is decreased by original backoff scheme. In this paper, we have analyzed TCP packet transmission time of IEEE 802.11 MAC DCF protocol for wireless LANs a proposed enhanced backoff algorithm. It is considered the transmission time of transmission control protocol (TCP) packet on the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) in additive white gaussian noise (A WGN) and Rician fading channel. From the results, a proposed enhanced backoff algorithm produces a better performance improvement than an original backoff in wireless LAN environment. Also, in OFDM/quadrature phase shift keying channel (QPSK), we can achieve that the transmission time in wireless channel decreases as the TCP packet size increases and based on the data collected, we can infer the correlation between packet size and the transmission time, allowing for an inference of the optimal packet size in the TCP layer.

  • This paper presents cross-layer based packet scheduling and routing algorithm to effectively transmit delay-sensitive multimedia data over mobile ad hoc network. At first, packet urgency, node urgency, and route urgency are defined based on the end-to-end delay requirement of each packet and the number of hops over a route. Based on the urgency metric, the proposed transmission scheme is that packet scheduling algorithm at the MAC layer and routing algorithm at the network layer are tightly-coupled to improve the transmission performance for delay-sensitive multimedia. Finally, simulation results are provided to show the performance of proposed transmission scheme.

  • Most of recent studies on data center networks are based on the assumption of symmetrical multi-rooted tree topologies such as a Fat-Tree. While packet scatter schemes are very effective for such a network topology, it is known that various failures can result in an asymmetric topology which degrades TCP performance. In this paper, we reexamine the effects of link failures on packet scatter schemes in Fat-Trees. Our simulation results show that in case of a single link failure in a large-scale Fat-Tree, packet reordering does not occur enough to degrade TCP performance. This implies that we do not necessarily need a complex scheme to make packet schemes robust to link failures.
