This study was carried out to examine the awareness and use of social media tools by library and information professionals (LIPs) in selected academic libraries in South-west, Nigeria and the challenges they face in the use of social media technologies. Descriptive survey was adopted for this study. The population of the study comprised 217 library and information professionals from 10 selected academic libraries in south-west, Nigeria. A total enumeration technique was used to cover all the library and information professionals, 136 respondents filled and returned the questionnaire, given a response rate of 62.7%. The questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection. Descriptive statistics was used to analyze the data collected. The findings show that majority of LIPs possessed a high level of awareness in the use of social media tools. The study also revealed that social network tools were highly used by LIPs in the academic libraries studied and the types of social media used by LIPs was also revealed. The major challenges faced in the use of social media include inadequate power supply, lack of Internet access and time constraints. The paper recommended that to enhance the use of social media by LIPs, there is need for constant awareness of the importance of social media tools to LIPs and libraries in effective service delivery, LIPs should be ready to learn, unlearn and be learned in the use of social media and university libraries should provide enabling environment such as internet connectivity, power supply and policy to guide LIPs in social media usage.

The main purpose of this study is to analyze the metacognition of digital library search behavior of college students and to provide a fundamental data for the designing a user-centered online information retrieval system to find more optimal search results. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, metacognition was classified into the five main categories, including schema-training, planning, monitoring, evaluation, and transfer, and a total of twenty subcategories were included. A total of 112 students participated in the online questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS version 26, and it was found that there was a significant correlation between metacognition of college students and their digital library searching behavior. In particular, the digital library search experience was found to be the strongest factor to be considered as the most important variable in digital library design based on the aspect of user metacognition.

The purpose of this study is to suggest for utilization of supporters to promote public libraries. To achieve the study purpose, in-depth interview with nine public library supporters of two public libraries was conducted. The data were analyzed using a qualitative method. The order in which the data analyzed is as follows: segmenting, first coding, in-depth coding, and theme discovery. According to the study results, the followings were suggested for the operation of public library supporters: 1) needed to assign roles based on supporters' capabilities and personal characteristic, 2) needed proactive role by the librarian in charge, 3) needed proactive role by the public library, 4) needed adequate rewards, 5) needed prior education about the public library.

With the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the era of big data, the ability to handle data has become essential. This has heightened the importance and necessity of data literacy competencies. The purpose of this study is to propose a framework for data literacy competencies. To achieve this goal, data literacy frameworks from eight countries and twelve pieces of literature on data literacy competencies were analyzed and synthesized, resulting in five categories and twenty-three competencies. The five categories are: data understanding and ethics, data collection and management, data analysis and evaluation, data utilization, and data governance and systems. It is hoped that the data literacy competency framework proposed in this study will serve as a foundational resource for policies, curricula, and the enhancement of individual data literacy competencies.

The domestic and foreign standards of school libraries suggest that school library should be run to give useful and pleasant experiences to students. This study applies Csikszentmihalyi's 'flow theory' to analyze the relationships between students' flow experience and their satisfaction about school libraries use. The variables selected in this study are students' satisfaction, flow experience, library skill, challenge of library use, types of library use and students' learning styles. The research model is designed by using these 6 variables in this study. The data are collected from 293 students and analyzed by structural equation modeling. The results of this study are as follows: The entire casual relationships show that library skills influence in types of library use, types of library use affect students' learning styles and students' learning styles influence in satisfaction through flow. To improve students' satisfaction about school library use, this study proposes effective ways related to teacher librarians' role performances to expand students' flow experience and increase their library skills.

In this study, LD construction cases of overseas libraries were analyzed with focus on published datasets, reused vocabulary, and interlinked external datasets, and based on the analysis results, basic data on LD construction plans of domestic libraries were obtained. As a result of the analysis of 21 library cases, overseas libraries have established a faithful authority LD and conducted new services using published LDs. To this end, overseas libraries collaborated with other libraries and cultural institutions within the region, within the country, and nationally under the leadership of the library, and based on this cooperation, a specialized dataset was published. Overseas libraries used Schema.org to increase the visibility of published LDs, and used BIBFRAME for subdivision of description to define various entities and build LDs based on the defined entities. Overseas libraries have utilized various defined entities to link related information, display results, browse, and download in bulk. Overseas libraries were interested in the continuous up-to-date of interlinked external datasets, and directly utilized external data to reinforce catalog information. In this study, based on the derived implications, points to be considered when issuing LDs by domestic libraries were proposed. The research results can be used as basic data when future domestic libraries plan LD services or upgrade existing services.

The purpose of this study is to suggest the basic data for providing library information services of high quality with clients, by designing the model of MyCyberLibrary and evaluating it. The model of MyCyberLibrary was constructed based on the survey results on the information-seeking behavior of users and on the review of the existing mylibraries'functions. The model is implemented into the prototype system which consists of nine modules. Finally, we evaluated the proposed system via mail questionnaires, and proposed three suggestions to make this system a much more comprehensive and effective one.

This study examined whether there is any difference in the public library patrons' library uses depending on their participation in the educational and cultural programs of such libraries. Additional analysis was conducted to determine if the particular educational and cultural program participants' showed any consistent library use patterns. The statistical analysis of such program offerings and the patron survey data resulted in the findings such as that there were statistically significant differences in how the patrons' used the libraries, the number of library resources borrowed, and the frequency of library websites and/or mobile applications used based on their participation in the educational and cultural programs and also the types of programs that they attended.
