  • As information technologies are applied to the libraries in information society, the library services have been changing its feature. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to explore and to establish a paradigm of the library services in information society. It is hypothesized that the application of information technologies leads to the change of the library services in information society. To prove the hypothesis, the data were collected from various research results carried out in the developed countries and by observing various libraries where the information technologies are extensively applied. The findings are as follows: 1. As information technologies are applied to the library, many new library services emerge for the society. 2. As the electronic data replace the paper data, the collection of a library becomes the collection of the libraries in the world. Therefore, the accessibility to the information network is more important than to own information in the library. Librarians select various electronic data according to the library policy which distinguishes their own library collection from others. The policy also solves the various problems related to weeding and preserving library collection. And the use of CD-ROM selection tools enable library users to select their own data. Now, the censorship becomes the concems of the library users, not the library. 3. The catalogs are reorganized for the electronic data for the international use. The most important information in the catalog is the location of the data and the multi access to the data are necessary. 4. As the information technologies are applied in book selection, cataloguing, information retreival and circulation, the library users are enable to service themselves in the library. And most of the routine works related to the information service are taken over by the library staffs. Professional librarians engage in user education, information marketing and fund raising. 5. Public libraries in information society serves those who have no access to the information. They help the illiterates. patients in the hospital, prisoners, and homeless in the city. Therefore, the information technologies enhance the role of librarians in professional work in the library as well as in the information society.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and present a model that can evaluate the data maturity of library. To achieve this goal, library data maturity model can be applied to library was designed by analyzing previous studies related to data maturity. As a result of this study, proposed data maturity model consisting of 19 evaluation factors in 5 areas was designed, and the maturity level was set to 5 levels. In the future, it will be possible to measure the data maturity of libraries participating in the library big data project using the data maturity evaluation model, and it can be expected that in the long term, it will be possible to present a direction for data-based library operation and data utilization development.

  • These days, we face of the flood of books published, and data day by day. But there are some trouble to serve the knowlodge and date to the users efficently with a single library. Thats why we think about the way of the cooporation and the connection in modern library for the method of widening the service. As the result of the issue, the establishment for the relation of each library is needed to be done, and the composition of the public library network in same area and limit are also needed. Establishing the library network, the civil life will be much influenced by the service of a library. With the existing ways, library cant arrange data efficently by them selves, and the users are limited. But the library network collect the data with alloting the work to each portion, so it can be possible to gather the specipic data, and the cost caused by needless and overlapped data can be decreased remarkably. Furthermore, the location of the library can be closer than the existing one due to the less cost to maintain the library. As I explained, the convenience of using the library can make an effect on more people to use a library than before.

  • Most public library websites provide unstructured cultural program data, which cannot be produced and utilized systematically as bibliographic information. It is not sufficiently used in existing library big data research or cases, and there is a risk of disappearing when the website is reorganized or the person in charge is changed. This study developed a data schema that can be used in conjunction with bibliographic data by collecting and analyzing cultural programs and community service data produced in an unstructured manner and proposed to share and utilize public library cultural programs and community service data, and establish a library big data platform that can serve as an information channel between librarians who are cultural program planners. Library program data posted on the library website can be integrated and managed through the platform, securing continuity of work, and systematically managing and preserving the specialized service history of individual libraries.

  • Since the advent of Linked Data (LD) as a method for building webs of data, there have been many attempts to apply and implement LD in various settings. Efforts have been made to convert bibliographic data in libraries into Linked Data, thereby generating Library Linked Data (LLD). However, when memory institutions have tried to link their data with external sources based on principles suggested by Tim Berners-Lee, identifying appropriate vocabularies for use in describing their bibliographic data has proved challenging. The objective of this paper is to discuss the potential role of Linked Open Vocabularies (LOV) in providing better access to various open datasets and facilitating effective linking. The paper will also examine the ways in which memory institutions can utilize LOV to enhance the quality of LLD and LLD-based ontology design.

  • This study examines the current state of library related data opened through public data portals, and analyzes how much data is being utilized according to the type of releasing organization, and open level. In addition, we analyzed the subject cluster of data and the centrality of data by performing PathFinder Network analysis using keywords assigned to data by dividing the releasing subject into local government and national/public institutions. Based on this, the subject area of library - related data disclosed by local governments and national/public organizations is understood. And identify the main open body that should be opened first by linking with data utilization analysis result and then suggest implications for future improvement in connection with library big data business.

  • In this paper, the necessity calling for a paradigm shift in information organization is summarized: an attempt is being made to move from a web of documents to a web of data. In this, the principles used to make a universal library network, as part of the semantic web, or linked data, are described. Popular RDF vocabularies are also briefly introduced emphasizing FRBR and RDA vocabularies. Some library-related linked data projects are also summarized, describing the steps necessary to make a library catalogue available as linked data, as well as a rationale for doing so. Lastly, proposed models for a universal library network focusing on linked data are suggested. Some implications for the use of library applications for linked data, among others, are also presented.

  • This study examined and compared existing national library RFID data models, especially for Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, France, the U.S., Australia and South Korea. Four European country models(i.e., Danish, Finnish, Dutch, and French models) and South Korea use prescriptive data model(fixed encoding approach), while The U.S. and Australia adopt object-based data model, which is based on the data encoding rules of ISO/IEC 15962. This study expects to allow fertile ground for discussion on RFID data models in South Korean library environment.

  • This study tried to provide users with customized services by applying the CRM theory of the MyLibrary functions of the academic library system. The first data were collected through documentary survey and homepage survey, and case study of domestic and overseas college libraries was performed and 3 systems among academic library systems were selected to conduct a survey with their librarians and users of the academic libraries. It was found that librarians in charge of each function of services didn't much utilize information data of users created in the MyLibrary functions. As for an improvement method, it was suggested that systematic management to raise recognition on CRM and utilize it as feedback data is required in order to provide high quality services as well as customized information services to users based on data created in MyLibrary.

  • Ships and off-shore plants have very long lifecycles. Design data of ships and off-shore plants are used as master data in the subsequent phases after the design phase. Therefore, it is an important issue how to convert native design data generated from commercial shipbuilding CAD systems into neutral data with the use of international industrial data standards. International standard-based exchange of ship outfitting and off-shore plant data needs the construction of a library for specifications data of equipment and materials and the provision of external referencing mechanism for retrieving data stored in the library. This paper proposes an approach to construct a specifications data library with the use of ISO 15926 process plants. This library is used for providing specifications data through external referencing when translating ship outfitting data from TRIBON system into ISO 10303 STEP AP 227-formed data.
