One of the main causes of a limited use of nondestructive evaluation (NDE) technologies in bridge deck assessment is the speed of data collection and analysis. The paper describes development and implementation of the RABIT (Robotics Assisted Bridge Inspection Tool) for data collection using multiple NDE technologies. The system is designed to characterize three most common deterioration types in concrete bridge decks: rebar corrosion, delamination, and concrete degradation. It implements four NDE technologies: electrical resistivity (ER), impact echo (IE), ground-penetrating radar (GPR), and ultrasonic surface waves (USW) method. The technologies are used in a complementary way to enhance the interpretation. In addition, the system utilizes advanced vision to complement traditional visual inspection. Finally, the RABIT collects data at a significantly higher speed than it is done using traditional NDE equipment. The robotic system is complemented by an advanced data interpretation. The associated platform for the enhanced interpretation of condition assessment in concrete bridge decks utilizes data integration, fusion, and deterioration and defect visualization. This paper concentrates on the validation and field implementation of two NDE technologies. The first one is IE used in the delamination detection and characterization, while the second one is the USW method used in the assessment of concrete quality. The validation of performance of the two methods was conducted on a 9 m long and 3.6 m wide fabricated bridge structure with numerous artificial defects embedded in the deck.

In this paper, we present a new method for real-time tracking of human walking around a laser sensor system. The method converts range data with $r-{\theta}$ coordinates to a 2D image with x-y coordinates. Then human tracking is performed using human's features, i.e. appearances of human walking pattern, and the input range data. The laser sensor based human tracking method has the advantage of simplicity over conventional methods which extract human face in the vision data. In our method, the problem of estimating 2D positions and orientations of two walking human's ankle level is formulated based on a moving trajectory algorithm. In addition, the proposed tracking system employs a HMM to robustly track human in case of occlusions. Experimental results using a real system demonstrate usefulness of the proposed method.

Marine deposited waste is a major cause of problems such as a lot of damage and an increase in the estimated amount of garbage due to abandoned fishing grounds caused by ghost fishing. In this paper, we implement a real-time marine deposited waste detection artificial intelligence system to understand the actual conditions of waste fishing gear usage, distribution, loss, and recovery, and study methods for performance improvement. The system was implemented using the yolov5 model, which is an excellent performance model for real-time object detection, and the 'data screening process' and 'class segmentation' method of learning data were applied as performance improvement methods. In conclusion, the object detection results of datasets that do screen unnecessary data or do not subdivide similar items according to characteristics and uses are better than the object recognition results of unscreened datasets and datasets in which classes are subdivided.
Previous long-term measurements of the Uldolmok tidal current power plant showed that the structure's natural frequencies fluctuate with a constant cycle-i.e., twice a day with changes in tidal height and tidal current velocity. This study aims to improve structural health monitoring (SHM) techniques for offshore structures under a harsh tidal environment like the Uldolmok Strait. In this study, lab-scale experiments on a simplified offshore structure as a lab-scale test structure were conducted in a circulating water channel to thoroughly investigate the causes of fluctuation of the natural frequencies and to validate the displacement estimation method using multimetric data fusion. To this end, the numerical study was additionally carried out on the simplified offshore structure with damage scenarios, and the corresponding change in the natural frequency was analyzed to support the experimental results. In conclusion, (1) the damage that occurred at the foundation resulted in a more significant change in natural frequencies compared with the effect of added mass; moreover, the structural system became nonlinear when the damage was severe; (2) the proposed damage index was able to indicate an approximate level of damage and the nonlinearity of the lab-scale test structure; (3) displacement estimation using data fusion was valid compared with the reference displacement using the vision-based method.

The technology convergence of television, communication, and computing devices enables the rich social and entertaining experience through Smart TV in personal living space. The powerful smart TV computing platform allows to provide various user interaction interfaces like IR remote control, web based control, body gesture based control, etc. The presently used smart TV interaction user control methods are not efficient and user-friendly to access different type of media content and services and strongly required advanced way to control and access to the smart TV with easy user interface. This paper propose the optical wireless communication (OWC) based remote controller design for Smart TV using smart device Flashlights. In this approach, the user smart device act as a remote controller with touch based interactive smart device application and transfer the user control interface data to smart TV trough Flashlight using visible light communication method. The smart TV built-in camera follows the optical camera communication (OCC) principle to decode data and control smart TV user access functions according. This proposed method is not harmful as radio frequency (RF) radiation does it on human health and very simple to use as well user does need to any gesture moves to control the smart TV.

Swift and appropriate responses in emergency situations like objects falling on the road can bring convenience to road users and effectively reduces secondary traffic accidents. In Korea, current intelligent transportation system (ITS)-based detection systems for emergency road situations mainly rely on loop detectors and CCTV cameras, which only capture road data within detection range of the equipment. Therefore, a new detection method is needed to identify emergency situations in spatially shaded areas that existing ITS detection systems cannot reach. In this study, we propose a ResNet-based algorithm that detects and classifies emergency situations from vehicle camera footage. We collected front-view driving videos recorded on Korean highways, labeling each video by defining the type of emergency, and training the proposed algorithm with the data.

An autonomous driving system based on a precise digital map is developed. The system is implemented to the Hyundai's Tucsan fuel cell car, which has a camera, smart cruise control (SCC) and Blind spot detection (BSD) radars, 4-Layer LiDARs, and a standard GPS module. The precise digital map has various information such as lanes, speed bumps, crosswalks and land marks, etc. They can be distinguished as lane-level. The system fuses sensed data around the vehicle for localization and estimates the vehicle's location in the precise map. Objects around the vehicle are detected by the sensor fusion system. Collision threat assessment is performed by detecting dangerous vehicles on the precise map. When an obstacle is on the driving path, the system estimates time to collision and slow down the speed. The vehicle has driven autonomously in the Hyundai-Kia Namyang Research Center.
RI-Biomics is the new radiation fusion technology of which, such as the characteristics of radioisotope, is applied to the biomics. In order to sharing and overall analysis of data between the institutions through total management of information in the field of RI-Biomics, RI-Biomics Information portal 'RIBio-Info' was constructed by KARA (Korean Association for Radiation Application) in February 2015. For systematic operation of this 'RIBio-Info' system, it is required to develop system of collection-analysis-application of information. So, in this paper, we summarized development of document forms at each processes of collection-analysis-application of information and systematization of collection methods of information, establishment of characteristically analysis methods of reports such as issue paper, policy report, global market report and watch report. Therefore, these are expected to improving the practical applicability in this field through the vitalization of technology development of users by achieving the circular structure of collectionanalysis-application of information.

Emergencies and disasters can happen any time without any warning, and things can change and escalate very quickly, and often it is swift and decisive actions that make all the difference. It is a responsibility of the building facility management to ensure that a proven evacuation plan in place to cover various worst scenario to handled automatically inside the facility. To mapping out optimal safe escape routes is a straightforward undertaking, but does not necessarily guarantee residents the highest level of protection. The emergency evacuation navigation approach is a state-of-the-art that designed to evacuate human livings during an emergencies based on real-time decisions using live sensory data with pre-defined optimum path finding algorithm. The poor decision on causalities and guidance may apparently end the evacuation process and cannot then be remedied. This paper propose a cloud connected emergency evacuation system model to react dynamically to changes in the environment in emergency for safest emergency evacuation using IoT based emergency exit sign system. In the previous researches shows that the performance of optimal routing algorithms for evacuation purposes are more sensitive to the initial distribution of evacuees, the occupancy levels, and the type and level of emergency situations. The heuristic-based evacuees routing algorithms have a problem with the choice of certain parameters which causes evacuation process in real-time. Therefore, this paper proposes an evacuee routing algorithm that optimizes evacuation by making using high computational power of cloud servers. The proposed algorithm is evaluated via a cloud-based simulator with different "simulated casualties" are then re-routed using a Dijkstra's algorithm to obtain new safe emergency evacuation paths against guiding evacuees with a predetermined routing algorithm for them to emergency exits. The performance of proposed approach can be iterated as long as corrective action is still possible and give safe evacuation paths and dynamically configure the emergency exit signs to react for real-time instantaneous safe evacuation guidance.

This paper deals with a problem occuring in recognition of tactile images due to the effects of imposed force at a me urement moment. Tactile image of a contact surface, used for recognition of the surface type, varies depending on the forces imposed so that a false recognition may result in. This paper fuzzifies two parameters of the contour of a tactile image with the membership function formed by considering the imposed force. Two fuzzifed paramenters are fused by the average Minkowski's dist; lnce. The proposed algorithm was implemented on the multisensor system cnmposed of an optical tact le sensor and a 6 axes forceltorque sensor. By the experiments, the proposed algorithm has shown average recognition ratio greater than 869% over all imposed force ranges and object models which is about 14% enhancement comparing to the case where only the contour information is used. The pro- ~oseda lgorithm can be used for end-effectors manipulating a deformable or fragile objects or for recognition of 3D objects by implementing on multi-fingered robot hand.
