Fusion System of Time-of-Flight Sensor and Stereo Cameras Considering Single Photon Avalanche Diode and Convolutional Neural Network (SPAD과 CNN의 특성을 반영한 ToF 센서와 스테레오 카메라 융합 시스템)

  • 3D depth perception has played an important role in robotics, and many sensory methods have also proposed for it. As a photodetector for 3D sensing, single photon avalanche diode (SPAD) is suggested due to sensitivity and accuracy. We have researched for applying a SPAD chip in our fusion system of time-of-fight (ToF) sensor and stereo camera. Our goal is to upsample of SPAD resolution using RGB stereo camera. Currently, we have 64 x 32 resolution SPAD ToF Sensor, even though there are higher resolution depth sensors such as Kinect V2 and Cube-Eye. This may be a weak point of our system, however we exploit this gap using a transition of idea. A convolution neural network (CNN) is designed to upsample our low resolution depth map using the data of the higher resolution depth as label data. Then, the upsampled depth data using CNN and stereo camera depth data are fused using semi-global matching (SGM) algorithm. We proposed simplified fusion method created for the embedded system.

Predicting Session Conversion on E-commerce: A Deep Learning-based Multimodal Fusion Approach

  • With the availability of big customer data and advances in machine learning techniques, the prediction of customer behavior at the session-level has attracted considerable attention from marketing practitioners and scholars. This study aims to predict customer purchase conversion at the session-level by employing customer profile, transaction, and clickstream data. For this purpose, we develop a multimodal deep learning fusion model with dynamic and static features (i.e., DS-fusion). Specifically, we base page views within focal visist and recency, frequency, monetary value, and clumpiness (RFMC) for dynamic and static features, respectively, to comprehensively capture customer characteristics for buying behaviors. Our model with deep learning architectures combines these features for conversion prediction. We validate the proposed model using real-world e-commerce data. The experimental results reveal that our model outperforms unimodal classifiers with each feature and the classical machine learning models with dynamic and static features, including random forest and logistic regression. In this regard, this study sheds light on the promise of the machine learning approach with the complementary method for different modalities in predicting customer behaviors.

Comparing Accuracy of Imputation Methods for Categorical Incomplete Data (범주형 자료의 결측치 추정방법 성능 비교)

  • Various kinds of estimation methods have been developed for imputation of categorical missing data. They include category method, logistic regression, and association rule. In this study, we propose two fusions algorithms based on both neural network and voting scheme that combine the results of individual imputation methods. A Mont-Carlo simulation is used to compare the performance of these methods. Five factors used to simulate the missing data pattern are (1) input-output function, (2) data size, (3) noise of input-output function (4) proportion of missing data, and (5) pattern of missing data. Experimental study results indicate the following: when the data size is small and missing data proportion is large, modal category method, association rule, and neural network based fusion have better performances than the other methods. However, when the data size is small and correlation between input and missing output is strong, logistic regression and neural network barred fusion algorithm appear better than the others. When data size is large with low missing data proportion, a large noise, and strong correlation between input and missing output, neural networks based fusion algorithm turns out to be the best choice.

  • 축산폐수는 축사가 대부분 상수원보다 상류지역에 산재하고 있어 이를 효과적으로 관리하기 어려우나, 연속 회분식 반응기(Sequencing Batch Reactor, SBR)는 장치가 간단하고 경제성이 우수하여 축산폐수처리에서 효율적으로 적용될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 DO(Dissolved Oxygen)과 ORP(Oxidation-Reduction Potential)을 이용하여 지식기반 고장진단 시스템을 제안하였다. 실시간으로 얻어진 ORP, DO값들을 전처리하여, [ORP], [DO]외에 [ORP DO]합성data와 ORP, DO의 특징백터의 합에서 얻어진 fusion data의 총 4개의 data set을 이용하여 각각에 대한 진단과 분류성능을 검토하였다. 이 값을 이용하여 FCM (fuzzy C-mean) 클러스터링 한 후, K-PCA과 LDA로 차원축소시켜 특징백터를 추출하였다. 그리고 Hamming distance로 test data와 특징백터의 거리를 계산하여 각 class를 F1에서 F8까지 분류하였다. 그 결과 데이터를 그대로 이용하는 것 보다 차분데이터형태로 이용하는 것이 우수했으며 그 중 fusion 데이터의 결과가 다른 것들보다 향상된 결과를 보였다. 그리고 K-PCA와 LDA를 결합한 결과가 다른 방법에 비해 우수한 결과를 보였으며 fusion method를 이용한 최고인식율은 98.02%를 나타내었다.

  • This paper proposes a sensor-fusion technique where the data sets for the previous moments are properly transformed and fused into the current data sets to enable accurate measurement, such as, distance to an obstacle and location of the service robot itself. In the conventional fusion schemes, the measurement is dependent on the current data sets.   • An automatic approach and strategy for extracting building information from aerial images using combined image analysis and interpretation techniques is described in this paper. A dense DSM is obtained by stereo image matching. Multi-band classification, DSM, texture segmentation and Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) are used to reveal building interest areas. Then, based on the derived approximate building areas, a shape modelling algorithm based on the level set formulation of curve and surface motion has been used to precisely delineate the building boundaries. Data fusion, based on the Dempster-Shafer technique, is used to interpret simultaneously knowledge from several data sources of the same region, to find the intersection of propositions on extracted information derived from several datasets, together with their associated probabilities. A number of test areas, which include buildings with different sizes, shape and roof colour have been investigated. The tests are encouraging and demonstrate that the system is effective for building extraction, and the determination of more accurate elevations of the terrain surface.

Data Fusion Using Image Segmentation in High Spatial Resolution Satellite Imagery

  • This paper describes a data fusion method for high spatial resolution satellite imagery. The pixels located around an object edge have spectral mixing because of the geometric primitive of pixel. The larger a size of pixel is, the wider an area of spectral mixing is. The intensity of pixels adjacent edges were modified by the spectral characteristics of the pixels located inside of objects. The methods developed in this study were tested using IKONOS Multispectral and Pan data of a part of Jeju-shi in Korea. The test application shows that the spectral information of the pixels adjacent edges were improved well.

  • This paper proposes an integrated safety assessment method that can take multiple sources data into consideration based on a data fusion approach. Data cleaning using the Kalman filter method (KF) was conducted first for monitoring data from each sensor. The inclination data from the four tilt sensors of the same monitoring section have been associated to synchronize in time. Secondly, the finite element method (FEM) model was established to physically correlate the external forces with various structural responses of the shield tunnel, including the measured inclination. Response surface method (RSM) was adopted to express the relationship between external forces and the structural responses. Then, the external forces were updated based on the in situ monitoring data from tilt sensors using the extended Kalman filter method (EKF). Finally, mechanics parameters of the tunnel lining were estimated based on the updated data to make an integrated safety assessment. An application example of the proposed method was presented for an urban tunnel during a nearby deep excavation with multiple source monitoring plans. The change of tunnel convergence, bolt stress and segment internal forces can also be calculated based on the real time deformation monitoring of the shield tunnel. The proposed method was verified by predicting the data using the other three sensors in the same section. The correlation among different monitoring data has been discussed before the conclusion was drawn.

  • This paper proposes a new method of sensor fusion of an ultrasonic sensor and a vision sensor at the sensor level. In general vision system, the vision system finds edges of objects. And in general ultrasonic system, the ultrasonic system finds absolute distance between robot and object. So, the method integrates data of two different types. The system makes perfect output for robot control in the end. But this paper does not propose only integrating a different kind of data but also fusion information which receives from different kind of sensors. This method has advantages which can simply embody algorithm and can control robot on real time.
