Object-oriented programming goes on increasing in many areas, as its advantages of flexibility and ease of maintenance have been recognized. As in usual programmings, the productivity and flexibility of CACSD package can be improved by adopting object-oriented programmin. This paper describes our efforts to implement an OO-CACSD(Object Oriented CACSD) package for control system design and simulation. Since the proposed OO-CACSD is based on the modularity, portability, reuseability, and matrix-oriented data structure, a control system can be not only modeled and simulated but also maintained easily.

In this paper, we propose an XML based meta-data specification for industrial speech databases. Building speech databases is very time-consuming and expensive. Recently, by the government supports, huge amount of speech corpus has been collected as speech databases. However, the formats and meta-data for speech databases are different depending on the constructing institutions. In order to advance the reusability and portability of speech databases, a standard representation scheme should be adopted by all speech database construction institutions. ETRI proposed a XML based annotation scheme [51 for speech databases, but the scheme has too simple and flat modeling structure, and may cause duplicated information. In order to overcome such disadvantages in this previous scheme, we first define the speech database more formally and then identify object appearing in speech databases. We then design the data model for speech databases in an object-oriented way. Based on the designed data model, we develop the meta-data specification for industrial speech databases.

In this work, we present the novel scheduling algorithm of the multimedia data retrieval for the mobile disk drive. Our algorithm is focused on minimizing the power consumption involved in data retrieval from the local disk drive. The prime commodity in mobile devices is the electricity. Strict restriction on power consumption requirement of the mobile device put unique demand in designing of its hardware and software components. State of the art disk based storage subsystem becomes small enough to be embedded in handhold devices. It delivers abundant storage capacity and portability. However, it is never be trivial to integrate small hard disk or optical disk drive in handhold devices due to its excessive power consumption. Our algorithm ARM in this article generates the optimal schedule of retrieving data blocks from the mobile disk drive while guaranteeing continuous playback of multimedia data.

The frequency-domain small-loop electromagnetic (EM) instruments are increasingly used for shallow environmental and geotechnical surveys because of their portability and speed. However, it is well known that the data quality is generally so poor that quantitative interpretation of the data is not justified in many cases. We present an inversion method that allows the correction for the calibration errors and also constructs multidimensional resistivity models. The key point in this method is that the data are collected at least at two different heights. The forward modeling used in the inversion is based on an efficient 3-D finite-difference method, and its solution was checked against 2-D finite-element solution. The synthetic and real data examples demonstrate that the joint inversion recovers reliable resistivity models from multi-frequency data severely contaminated by the calibration errors.

Data generator는 TDX 시스팀을 신규로 설치할 때 가입자, 중계선 및 시스팀 데이터와 국별로 정의해 주어야 하는 데이터를 일반 운용자가 알기 쉬운 형태로 입력하도록, 하고 이 원시 데이터를 TDX의 내부 자료구조에 맞는 형태의 초기 데이터 베이스로 만들어 주는 소프트웨어 생산 tool의 일종이다. 국 데이터는 그 양이 방대하여 시스팀이 신규로 설치될 때마다 생산되어야 하므로 이 국 데이터 생성 작업의 자동화는 TDX 상용화에 필수 조건이 된다. TDX의 data grnerator는 국 데이터 생성 작업의 전체 과정중에 기본기능과 TDX 내부 구조와 밀접한 관련이 있는 부분에 대하여 우선적으로 portability가 높고 효율적인 구조로 개발함으로써 user-friendly interface 등 기능의 계속적인 추가 및 변경이 쉬우며 UNIX machine 이면 거의 변경없이 수행될 수 있도록 하였다.

One of the major problems on the design of an online database for machine readable data file is on the implementation of MARC format for communication with the Library of Congress or OCLC. Most of the cataloging data to make manual card catalogs are stored on magnetic tapes based on the MARC format at LC or OCLC and are sent to local libraries. Therefore, local libraries can avoid the expensive process of cataloging for the books they own. Instead, they can retrieve the necessary cataloging information from the tape and print out manual card catalogs. A problem with MARC is that it is not designed for databases, but for portability to be read at any type of computer. Therfore, it is not practical to use the format on the development of an online database as long as the database is developed in conjunction with a commercial powerful database package. In this paper a possible methodology to resolve the conflicts between the objective of DBMS and MARC is discussed. It is to satisfy the requirements from a commercial DBMS while leaving a room for MARC to communicate with LC and OCLC.

A low cost image processing system based on a CROMEMCO microcomputer called KAIS-MIPS, is developed for processing remotely sensed Landsat data. It hardware system can be easily interfacd with other peripheral devices. The software system provides flexibility, expansibility, portability, and maintainability as well as extensive processing capacity. As an example, processing and land use classification of Landsat 2 data for the Inchun city and its 6vicinity in Korea are provided.

Recently, NAND flash memory, which is used as a storage medium, is replacing HDD (Hard Disk Drive) at a high speed due to various advantages such as fast access speed, low power, and easy portability. In order to apply NAND flash memory to a computer system, a Flash Translation Layer (FTL) is indispensably required. FTL provides a number of features such as address mapping, garbage collection, wear leveling, and hot data identification. In particular, hot data identification is an algorithm that identifies specific pages where data updates frequently occur. Hot data identification helps to improve overall performance by identifying and managing hot data separately. MHF (Multi hash framework) technique, known as hot data identification technique, records the number of write operations in memory. The recorded value is evaluated and judged as hot data. However, the method of counting the number of times in a write request is not enough to judge a page as a hot data page. In this paper, we propose hot data identification which considers not only the number of write requests but also the persistence of write requests.
