The Two Forms of Confucian Golden Rule and Their Ethical Meanings (서(恕)의 두 형태와 그 윤리학적 의미 - 주자(朱子)와 대진(戴震)의 윤리학에서 서(恕)의 위상 -)

  • This Thesis analyzes the two forms of Confucian Golden Rule(Shu恕) that were proposed by Zhu Xi朱熹 and Dai Zhen戴震 each other, and researches their ethical significances. Zhu Xi don't regards Shu as universal ethics by itself, while Dai Zhen identify Shu as the ground of universal ethics, According to this thesis, Zhu Xi thought that Shu has a danger of immoral misusage in some situation because Shu is so simplistic form of identification. Because this, Zhu Xi, for the purpose of blocking arbitrary misusage of Shu and holding universality of ethics, suggests that moral sincerity(Zhong忠) of subject is necessary to practice of Shu. Dai Zhen, however, criticizes Zhu Xi's Ethical Structure. In Dai Zhen's view, Zhu xi's idea that the subject has to establish his own morality through Zhong before practice Shu cannot make him escape from subjectivity necessarily. In this point, Dai Zhen revive Shu. His Shu concept means the reciprocity of human desires to each other. But Dai Zhen's idea, as Zhu Xi worried, has a danger of immoral misusage in some situation. On this problem, this thesis elucidates that Dai Zhen' desire concept is not individual various desires but is common basic desires of existence, thereby attests that Dai Zhen's Shu is safe from immoral misusage. This thesis claim that even if Zhu Xi's and Dai Zhen's position is so different, the ethical aims of two scholars is same. They both attempted to overcome the evil of subjectivism and to procure universality of ethics, furthermore to accomplish social fairness. Consequently, this thesis claims that two scholars both walked in same way because both wanted to establish the universality of Shu and to pursue realization of social fairness.

A Bi-Target Based Mobile Relay Selection Algorithm for MCNs

  • Multi-hop cellular networks (MCNs) reduce the transmit power and improve the system performance. Recently, several research studies have been conducted on MCNs. The mobile relay selection scheme is a rising issue in the design of MCNs that achieves these advantages. The conventional opportunistic relaying (OR) is performed on the single factor for maximum signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR). In this paper, a comprehensive OR scheme based on Bi-Target is proposed to improve the system throughput and reduce the relay handover by constraining the amount of required bandwidth and SINR. Moreover, the proposed algorithm captures the variability and the mobility that makes it more suitable for dynamic real scenarios. Numerical and simulation results show the superiority of the proposed algorithm in both enhancing the overall performance and reducing the handover.

  • The precaution and treatment for cancer become inevitable with the rising of morbidity and mortality. In this article, a promising new methodology for cancer treatment, sono-dynamic therapy (SDT) was introduced. In addition, we extensively reviewed the molec-ular mechanisms of SDT killing cancer and summarized the classification of sonosensi-tizers. At the same time, research progress of SDT indicates that it is possible to become a developing field for cancer treatment in clinical application.

  • Cold atmospheric plasma (CAP), a redox modulation tool, is capable of inhibiting a wide spectrum of cancers and has thus been proposed as an emerging onco-therapy. However, with incremental successes consecutively reported on the anticancer efficacy of CAP, no consensus has been made on the types of tumours sensitive to CAP due to the different intrinsic characteristics of the cells and the heterogeneous design of CAP devices and their parameter configurations. These factors have substantially hindered the clinical use of CAP as an oncotherapy. It is thus imperative to clarify the tumour types responsive to CAP, the experimental models available for CAP-associated investigations, CAP administration strategies and the mechanisms by which CAP exerts its anticancer effects with the aim of identifying important yet less studied areas to accelerate the process of translating CAP into clinical use and fostering the field of plasma oncology.

Protective Effects of Scutellaria barbata Against Rat Liver Tumorigenesis

  • Scutellaria barbata D. Don (S. barbata), a traditional Chinese medicine, is used to treat cancers, inflammation, and urinary diseases. This study aimed to determine any protective effects of S. barbata crude extract (CE-SB) against rat liver tumorigenesis induced by diethylnitrosamine (DENA). Liver malfunction indices in serum were measured by biochemical examination. Hematoxylin and eosin staining was performed to examine liver pathology. Contents of malondialdehyde (MDA) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) were measured in liver homogenates to evaluate oxidative stress. The levels of liver malfunction indices in the CE-SB groups, especially in the CE-SB high dose group, were lower than that of the model group (P<0.05). The results from histological examination indicated that the number of liver nodules in the CE-SB groups decreased compared with the model group (P<0.05). Content of MDA determined in liver was significantly decreased, and level of SOD elevated by CE-SB. CE-SB can inhibit experimental liver tumorigenesis and relieve hepatic injury in rats.
