A Experimental Study on the Effect of Kami-Daesihotang on Hyperlipidemia & Hypertension (대시호탕가미방(大柴胡湯加味方)이 고혈압(高血壓) 및 고지혈증(高脂血症)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • The aim of the study was the experiment of the effect that Kami-Daesihotang had on the essential hypertension and hyperlipidemia. Rats were orally administered with Kami-Daesihotang for 30days and the constituent of the plasma and serum were analysed at the 10th, 20th and 30th day from the first day of experiment, respectively. The heart rate, blood pressure, plasma renin activity, plasma level of aldosterone, catecholamine, sodium and angiotensin II were measured after an oral administration of Kami-Daesihotang in SHR. In addition, serum levels of total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and total lipid were measured with cholesterol-fed rats. The results were summarized as following ; 1. Single-dosage Kami-Daesihotang & double-dosage Kami-Daesihotang remarkably decreased the blood pressure in SHR. 2. Double-dosage Kami-Daesihotang were recognized as having the effect on the decreased of the pulse rate in SHR. 3. Plasma renin activity was significantly decreasd in SHR after single-dosage Kami-Daesihotang & double-dosage Kami-Daesihotang treatment. 4. Double-dosage Kami-Daesihotang considerably reduced the plasma angiotensin level in SHR. 5. Noticeable decreased of plasma norepinephrine level was showed in SHR, after single-dosage Kami-Daesihotang & double-dosage Kami-Daesihotang treatment. 6. Single-dosage Kami-Daesihotang & double-dosage Kami-Daesihotang noticeable reduced body weight in hyperlipidemia rats which had fed with 1% cholesterol. 7. Single-dosage Kami-Daesihotang & double-dosage Kami-Daesihotang had a significantly decreasing effect on serum total cholesterol in hyperlipidemia rats which had fed with 1% cholesterol. 8. Serum triglyceride level was importantly decreased in hyperlipidemia rats which had fed with 1% cholesterol, after single-dosage Kami-Daesihotang & double-dosage Kami-Daesihotang treatment. 9. Remarkable decreased of serum low density lipoprotein cholesterol level was found in hyperlipidemia rats which had fed with 1% cholesterol, after single-dosage Kami-Daesihotang & double-dosage Kami-Daesihotang treatment. 10. Double-dosage Kami-Daesihotang was showed a significantly decreasing effect on serum total lipid level in hyperlipidemia rats which had fed with 1% cholesterol. 11. Single-dosage Kami-Daesihotang noticeably reduced organ weight of liver, kidney, spleen and testis in hyperlipidemia rats which had fed with 1% cholesterol. Double-dosage Kami-Daesihotang significantly decreased organ weight of liver, kidney and spleen in hyperlipidemia rats. These Findings suggest a possible anti-hypertensive and hyperlipidemic effect of Kami-Daesihotang.

Effects of Daesihotang and its component groups on diabetes, free radical and antioxidative defense system in alloxan induced diabetic rats (대시호탕(大柴胡湯)이 alloxan으로 유발(誘發)된 고혈당(高血糖) 백서(白鼠)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • The purpose of this study was to reseach the effect of Daesihotang and its component groups on diabetes, free radical and antioxidative defense system in alloxan-induced diabetic rats. The experimental group was divided into three groups: Daesihotang (DS), Soyangyak (DS1), Yangmyungyak (DS2). The results were obtained as follows: The level of glucose, triglyceride, total cholesterol, creatinine in serum were considerablely reduced by Daesihotang. And the level of HDL cholesterol, albumin, total protein in serum were increased by Daesihotang significantly. And the level of BUN has some decreased, but with no significancy. In the study of Daesihotang on free radical scavenging effect in vitro, it has shown that Daesihotang and its components group have significant suppressing effect on peroxidation of linoleic acid on concentration. And in other experiments as scavenging effect of DPPH radical, inhibitory effect of superoxide in xanthine-xanthine oxidase system and inhibitory effect on lipid peroxidation reaction by hydroxy radical in $H_2O_2-Fe^{2+}$ system, Daesihatang have some activity, but with no significancy. In the study of Daesihotang on antioxidative defense system in vivo, the activity of GOT and GPT in serum were significantly increased; and the amounts of lipid peroxide in serum was reduced significantly but in liver no significancy. In hepatic catalase activity, Daesihotang has showed significant effect. In the level of hepatic glutathione, Daesihotang increased the amount of glutathione significantly. And in the activity of glutathione-s-transferase, Daesihotang has decreasing effect but has no significancy. These result suggest that Daesihotang has strong effect on diabetes and it is useful to prevent diabetes, but has less effect on peroxidative damage by free radical.

Effects of Daesihotang-sosonggitang-gagambang on liver injury of rats induced by ccl4 and d-galactosamine (대시호탕합소승기탕가감방(大柴胡湯合小承氣湯加減方)이 $CCl_4$ 및 d-galactosamine으로 유발된 흰쥐의 간손상(肝損傷)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • Objectives : In order to investigate the curative effect of Daesihotang-sosunggitang-gagambang on the liver injury of rats induced by $CCl_4$ and d-galactosamine. Methods : All animals were divided into 5 groups, those were normal group(untreated), control group(administrated with 0.9% Saline solution), sample I group(65mg/kg administrated), sample II group(130mg/kg administrated), positive control group(administrated with 200mg/kg silymarine). After the liver injury of rats induced by ccl4 and d-galactosamine, and cheked the serum transaminase(GOT, GPT) alkaline phosphatase(ALP), lactic dehydrogenase(LDH) for enzyme activities and triglyceride, total cholesterol amounts for serum component were measured. Result : The inhibitory effects on the serum GOT, GPT, LDH, ALP activities, serum total cholesterol content level in liver injury of rats induced by ccl4 were noted in both sample I group and sample II group. The inhibitory effects on the serum GPT, LDH activities and serum total cholesterol content level in liver injury of rats induced by d-galactosamine were noted in both sample I group and sample II group. The inhivitory effects on the serum GOT activities and triglyceride content level in liver injury of rats induced d-galactosamine were noted in sample I group, but it is not recognizable statistically. In sample II, they were noted. Conclusions : Deesihotang-sosoonggitang-gagambang has treatment effect against liver injury in rats induced by ccl4 and d-galactosamine. So it is required to study about the actions of mutual relation of medicines and path-mechanism by experiment.

Effects of Molasses Supplementation Levels to Daesihotang (Herbal Medicine) Meal on Quality of Silage and the Palatability in Goats (당밀의 첨가가 대시호탕(한약제)박 사일리지의 품질과 산양의 기호성에 미치는 영향)

  • Two experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of molasses supplementation levels to silage materials in ensiling herbal medicine meal on the quality of silage, and its palatability in Korean native goats. In experimentⅠ, molasses were added at the levels of 0, 0.5, and 1.0% to herbal medicine (Deasihotang) meal, with three replicates per each level. They were kept at room temperature for 40 d in glass bottles in order to get silage samples. In experiment Ⅱ, nine 1.5-yr-old Korean native female goats were employed to measure their palatability. In experimentⅠ, lactic acid contents in molasses treatments were significantly (p<0.05) higher, and pH and butyric acid contents was lower than those of non-molasses control treatment. In addition, molasses treatments increased total microbial cell counts in MRS medium for lactobacillus, but decreased total microbial cell counts in PDA medium for fungi. Molasses supplementation to silage materials increased in vitro dry matter disappearance rate. Molasses supplementation tended to increase silage intake in Korean native goat (experiment II), however, the difference was not significant. It is concluded that molasses supplementation to silage materials in ensiling Daesihotang meal could improve its preservability and palatability, the larger the amount the better the quality.

  • In the literatual study on the hiccup, the results were as follows; 1. Hiccup is usually named as Hae yek, Hyel yek, Yel yek. 2. The cause of hiccup are stomach cold, rising of stomach fire, stagnation of vital energy and stagnation of phlegm, yang deficiency of spleen and kideny, deficiency of stomach-yin, or mental disorder due to the stagnation of phlegm, dyspepsia, depressed vital energy. 3. The treatment of hiccup are dispel cold by warming the middle warmer due to stomach cold, expel the heat-evil to loose hollow-organ due to rising up of stomach yin, regulate vital energy and dissipate phlegm due to stagnation of vital energy and stagnation of phlegm, warm and recuperate both of spleen and kidney due to spleen and kidney yang deficiency, nourish the stomach to promote the production of body fluid due to deficiency of stomach yin. 4. The prescription of hiccup are frequently used Gamchogungangtang Gangwhalbujatang Leejungtang Guelpigungang-tang due to stomach cold, Sosihotang Daesihotang Sojaganggitang due to rising up of stomach fire, Sunbokdaejasuktang due to stagnation of vital energy an dstagnation of phlegm, Bojungikgitang Goakhwanganwyisan Samsoeum due to spleen and kidney yang deficiency, Jaeumganghawtang Daebohoan due to deficiency of stomach yin, Hwanglyenjuklyetang Leejintang Guelpitang due to the stagnation of phlegm, Daewhajungeum due to dyspepsia, Mokhwangjogisan due to depressed vital energy.

Oriental and Western Medical Study on the cause and treatment of Obesity (비만의 원인과 치료에 대한 동서의학적 고찰)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate efficient treatment in obesity. In order to help clinical application in obesity treatment, this study was performed to investigate the cause and treatment in obesity. The main finding of this study were as follows. 1. In the cause of oriental medicine in obesity, that were moisture(濕), phlegm(痰), gore(瘀), the productive heat(積熱), overeating, supemutrition, underaction, heredity and habitude, psychologic factor(stress) etc. 2. In the western medicine, the cause of obesity were genetic cause, endocrine disorder, hypothalamic extraodinary and secondary effect of drug. But simple obesity is the greater part. Also there were psychologicai and environmental causes. 3. Ear acupuncture of wide application were Naebunbi, Sinmun, Taejang, $ij{\check{o}}m$, $Pyej{\check{o}}m$, $Bij{\check{o}}m$ etc. 4. Body acupuncture of application were $Naej{\check{o}}ng$, $Sangg{\check{o}}h{\check{o}}$, Pungnyung, Kokchi, $Sam{\check{o}}mgyo$, $Umn{\check{o}}ngch{\check{o}}n$ etc. 5. In oriental medical treatment of obesity, Bangpungtongs ngsan(防風通聖散), Daesihotang(大柴胡湯), Seungkitang(承氣湯), Bangkihwangkitang(防己黃?湯), Richulsaryeungtang(二朮四笭湯), Taeksatang(澤瀉湯), Opieum(五皮飮), Gongyundan(控涎丹) etc were wide applicated. 6. The western medical treatment in obesity encourage the dietary cure, exercise cure and behavior adjustment than medical therapy or operation. In treatment of obesity, the dietary cure and herb-drug therapy, ear acupuncture and body acupuncture are effective. But weight maintenance after treating is more important. After all the continuous dietary cure, behavior adjusting cure and exercise cure are necessary.
