The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of BITG on immune response in the young mice. BITG(500mg/kg) was administerd per orally once a day for 7 days to the young BALB/C(4 wks old)mice. The administrationo of BITG enhanced the cell viability of splenocytes, but did not affect that of thymocytes. In vitro system, BITG decreased the cell viability of thymocytes and splenocytes at the concentration of $100{\mu}g/m{\ell}$. The administration of BITG did not affect DNA fragmentation of thymocytes, but decreased that of splenocytes. The administration of BITG increased the population of Thy1+ cell and CD4+CD8- cell in splenocytes. In addition, BITG decreased the production of NO and increased the lucigenin chemiluminescence from peritoneal macrophages. These results suggest that BITG enhances the specific-immune and nonspecific-immune response via increase of cell viability in splenocytes and of phagocytic activity in peritoneal macrophages.

Machine tools are the cores of industrial development in recent period. It is difficult to develop a system which can do cutting and grinding process in the one system. Hybrid Vertical Grinding System is capable of processing in a single apparatus cutting or grinding. The modal analysis and structural analysis for the development of Hybrid Vertical Grinding System is the first time of domestic work. This paper describes the technologies of Hybrid Vertical grinding machine and intend to introduce the studies in the development of the Hybrid Vertical Grinding System.

Objectives : This study is designed in order to evaluate the therapeutic effect of Scalp Acupuncture and Do-ma Acupuncture related with Governer Vessel(Dok) and Bladder Meridian(Chok-taeyang) on acute low back pain Methods : We investigated 30 patients suffering from acute low back pain were admitted to Dunsan O.M.hospital from March. 1st 2005 to December. 30th 2005. We divided into two groups: one group was treated with Scalp acupunture, another group was treated with common acupuncture. 30 patients, were diagnosed only straightened curvature on lateral view of lumbar spine X -ray. Scalp acupunture related with Governer Vessel(Dok) and Bladder Meridian(Chok-taeyang) and Do-ma acupuncture. To estimate the efficacy of treatment that applied for two groups, we compared the visual analog scale(VAS), Oswestry disabiliby index(ODI) and Straight Leg Raising Test(SLRT) score of two groups statistically. Results : Both Scalp acupuncture related with Governer Vessel(Dok) and Bladder Meridian (Chok-taeyang) and Do-ma acupuncture therapy showed good effect on acute low back pain. It was proved by the difference between VAS, ODI and SLRT score checked before treatment and what checked after treatment on each groups. Conclusion: The therapeutic effect of Scalp Acupuncture and Do-ma Acupuncture on acute low back pain can be recommended as a useful therapy to treat acute low back pain.

Objectives : The effect of water extract of the pilose antler of Cervus korean TEMMINCK var. mantchuricus Swinhoe (Nokyong), a traditional immuno-suppressive and immuno-activating Korean oriental medicine, on collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) mice model was studied. Identification of common Nokyong capable of affording protection or modulating the onset and severity of arthritis may have important human health implications. Methods : Nokyong has shown to possess anti-inflammatory and anticarcinogenic properties in experimental animals. In this study we determined the effect of DAE on collagen-induced arthritis in mice. Results : In three independent experiments mice given DAE in water exhibited significantly reduced incidence of arthritis (33% to 50%) as compared with mice given no DAE in water (84% to 100%). The arthritis index also was significantly lower in DAE-fed animals. Western blot analysis showed a marked reduction in the expression of inflammatory mediators such as cyclooxygenase 2 (Cox-2), $Interferon-{\gamma}\;(INF-{\gamma})$, and tumor necrosis factor ${\alpha}\;(TNF-{\alpha})$ in arthritic joints of DAE-fed mice. The neutral endopeptidase (NEP) activity was approximately 6-fold higher in arthritic joints of non-DAE-fed mice in comparison to nonarthritic joints of nonimmunized mice whereas it was only 2-fold higher in the arthritic joints of DAE-fed mice. Additionally, total IgG and type II collagen-specific IgG levels were lower in the arthritic joints of DAE-fed mice. Conclusion : Taken together our studies suggest that DAE may be useful in the prevention of onset and severity of arthritis.

This study was case report to show the good effects of korean traditional medical treatment and breathing meditation. The methods were applied to lung cancer patients. We treated one patient who scored 27 point at Beck's depression inventory(BDI) and 28 point at Hamilton rating scale for depression(HRSD) and 22 point at Beck's anxiety inventory(BAI) and 20 point at Anxiety status inventory(ASI) by korean traditional medical treatment and breathing meditation. After treatment, the clinical symptoms were improved and the score of BDI, HRSD, BAI, ASI were decreased. According to this study korean traditional medical treatment is effective for the cure of depression and anxiety disorder and breathing meditation forifies the korean traditional medical treatment.
