The research performed in this paper was carried out to investigate the numerical analysis of the sheet cavitation on marine propeller. The method is boundary element method (BEM). Using the Green's theorem, the velocity potential is expressed as an integral equation on the surface of the propeller by hyperboloid-shaped elements. Employing the boundary conditions, the potential is determined via solving the resulting system of equations. For the case study, a DTMB4119 propeller is analyzed with and without cavitating conditions. The pressure distribution and hydrodynamic performance curves of the propellers as well as cavity thickness obtained by numerical method are calculated and compared by the experimental results. Specifically in this article cavitation changes are investigate in both the radial and chord direction. Thus, cross flow variation has been studied in the formation and growth of sheet cavitation. According to the data obtained it can be seen that there is a better agreement and less error between the numerical results gained from the present method and Fluent results than Hong Sun method. This confirms the accurate estimation of the detachment point and the cavity change in radial direction.

Generally, the flow around the ship's hull often appear 3-dimensional separation at the bow and stem, and the vortex by this flow affects greatly the resistance propulsive efficiency and maneuverability of the ship. This study is compared the calculated result based on the streamlines calculation method with the experimental result by oil fIlm method to analyze the patterns and characteristics of the flows around the ship's hull of chine form. DTMB Series 62, 4667-1 vessel was selected as a sample ship of chine form and model ship was painted with the mixture of oil-color, paint, and poly wax at the surface of the vessel and tested in the model towing tank of Inha University. The results obtained in this study are listed briefly as follows ; 1. For the single chine form, after $4\frac{1}{2}$ station the streamlines are crossed at the chine line and the streamlines are converted to the vortex follow the chine line. 2. For the single chine form, the vortex appered increases and severely in and arround the stern. 3. The approximate streamlines for the ship's hull of chine form can be assigned by the use of the Watanabe's basic transformation formular.

Naval ships have hull appendages which are more exposed to the outside because of its small block coefficient compared with commercial ships. These exposed hull appendages like skeg, strut and shaft line affect the maneuverability of a ship. The effect of hull appendages has considered at initial design stage to estimate more accurate maneuverability. In this paper, sensitivity analysis is used to analyze the effect on maneuverability by hull appendages. 3 DOF maneuvering equations based on Mathematical Modelling Group (MMG) model are used and propeller & rudder model are modified to reflect the characteristics of twin propeller & twin rudder. Numerical maneuvering simulations (Turning test, Zig-zag test) for benchmark naval vessel, David Taylor Model Basin (DTMB) 5415 are performed. In every simulation, it is calculated that stability indices and maneuverability characteristics (Tactical Dia., Advance, 1st Overshoot, Time of complete cycle) with respect to the parameters (area times lift coefficient slope, attachment location) of hull appendages. As a result, two regression formulas are established. One is the relation of maneuverability characteristics and stability indices and the other is the relation of stability indices and hull appendages.

This paper provides the structure of a Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) based simulation method and its validation results for the ship motion problem. The motion information of the hull computed from the equations of motion is considered in the momentum equations as the relative fluid motions with respect to a non-inertial coordinates system. A finite volume method is used to solve the governing equations, while the free surface is captured by using a two-phase level-set method and the realizable k-${\varepsilon}$ model is used for turbulence closure. For the validation of the present numerical approach, the numerical results of the resistance and motion tests for DTMB 5415 at two ship speeds are compared against available experimental data.
As an alternative to the traditional pilot-aided orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), the time-domain pseudonoise (PN)-padded OFDM provides a higher spectral efficiency. However, the carrier frequency offset (CFO) attenuates peaks of the conventional PN correlation output, which limits the CFO estimation range of the OFDM synchronizer. An improved correlation is proposed in this letter to remove the CFO-induced amplitude attenuation of correlation peaks. For a synchronizer adopting the designed correlator, a larger range of CFO acquisition is obtained through using wider correlation windows with a smaller interval between them. The proposed method of CFO acquisition is verified in a digital terrestrial multimedia broadcast receiver, in which the synchronizer is able to acquire CFOs up to ${\pm}320$ kHz in the DVB-T F1 channel. Furthermore, the acquisition range can be expanded in more favorable channels.

The characteristics of the relationship between the evolution of propeller trailing vortex wake and skew angle are numerically examined based on four different five-blade David Taylor Model Basin (DTMB) model propellers with different skew angles. Numerical simulations are based on Reynolds-averaged Naviere-Stokes (RANS) equations combined with SST $k-{\omega}$ turbulence model. Results show that the contraction of propeller trailing vortex wake can be restrained by increasing skew angle and loading conditions, and root vortices fade away when the propeller skew angle increases. With the increase of the propeller's skew angle, the deformation of the hub vortex and destabilization of the tip vortices are weakening gradually because the blade-to-blade interaction becomes weaker. The transition trailing vortex wake from stability to instability is restrained when the skew increases. Furthermore, analyses of tip vortice trajectories show that the increasing skew can reduce the difference in trailing vortex wake contraction under different loading conditions.

This paper carried out numerical analysis for estimating the propulsion performance of the model scale ONRT benchmark model of'Tokyo 2015 a workshop on CFD'. The method reflecting the scale effect of ITTC'78 method and form factor were used to compare the estimates of the effective wake ratio of full-scale. The numerical calculation was performed with Siemens's Star-CCM+, compared with IIHR model tests and the numerical analysis results of other research institutes, showing good agreement. In the case of an open stern and twin skeg ship, the validity of the ITTC'78 method can be confirmed by assuming that the effective wake ratio estimated from the numerical analysis results of model scale is similar to the effective wake ratio of full-scale.

The present paper provides a CFD analysis of diffraction problem for a ship with forward speed using an unsteady RANS simulation method, a WAVIS code. The WAVIS viscous solver adopting a finite volume method has second order accuracy in time and field discretizaions for the RANS equations. A two phase level-set method and a realizable ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model are adopted to compute the free surface and to meet the turbulence closure, respectively. To validate the capability of the present numerical methods for the simulation of an unsteady progressive regular wave, computations are performed for three grid sets with refinement ratio of ${\sqrt{2}}$. The main simulation is performed for a DTMB5512 model with a forward speed in a regular head sea condition. Validation of the present numerical method is carried out by comparing the present CFD results with available unsteady experimental data published in the 2005 Tokyo CFD Workshop: resistance, heave force, pitch moment, unsteady free surface elevations and velocity fields.
