  • The properties of $Al_2O_3$ thermoluminescent phosphor have been observed to apply for gamma dosimetry in vivo. Glow peaks at 380, 420, 490 kelvin temperature with emission in the blue region have been detected and calculated as 1.4 eV the activation energy by means of heat response rising time method. Sensitization and supralinearity in $Al_2O_3$ phosphor could be consistently explained by the deep trap model. Studies of the thermoluminescence growth rate with gamma ray exposure showed linearly to $10^4$ Roentgen and then supralinear rate detected 1.2 power of exposure dose sensitization of $Al_2O_3$ is described five times more than TLD-100 and the fading time is shorter and then tried to apply for gamma dosimetry in vivo.

  • The radionuclide therapy is a protocol for tumor control by administering radionuclides as the cytotoxic agents. Radionuclides concentrated at the site of cancerous lesion are expected to kill the cancerous cells with minimal injury to the normal tissue. The efficacy of every radionuclide treatment can be evaluated by examining the toxicity to the lesion differentiated from that to the normal tissue. Radiation dosimetry is the procedure of quantitating the energy absorbed by target volumes of interest. Dosimetric information plays an indicator of the expected radiation damage and thus the therapeutic efficacy. This paper summarizes the dosimetric aspects in radionuclide therapy in terms of radionuclides of use, radiation dosimetry methodology and considerations for each treatment in practical use.

  • This paper describes the basic data measurements for total body irradiation with 6 Mv photon beam including compensators design. The technique uses bilateral opposing fields with tissue compensators for the head, neck, lungs, and legs from the hip to toes. In vivo dosimetry was carried out for determining absorbed dose at various regions in 7 patients using diode detectors(MULTIDOSE,k Model 9310, MULTIDATA Co., USA). As a results, the dose uniformity of${\pm}3.5{\%}$(generally, within${\pm}10{\%}$can be achieved with out total body irradiation technique.

  • This study was to improve to utilization of non dosimetry measurements for X-ray radiography. Experiments was passed off varying the X-ray tube voltage and the thickness of the aluminum filter by actual dose. Calculated results was set to the first beam quality factors, calculated first correction coefficient by the Microsoft Excel program was set as the second beam quality factors. To make the non dosimetry measurements simply, the Excel program apply to the new beam quality factors, the error was compared to the previous studies, and the results verify the calculated value of smaller errors.

  • This paper presents the dosimetry of a resonance-based wireless power transfer (RBWPT) system for electric vehicles applications. The compact RBWPT system is designed to transfer power at 150-mm distance. The electric and magnetic fields generated by the RBWPT system and the specific absorption rate in the human body model, which stands around the system, are calculated. These analyses are conducted in two cases: the alignment and the misalignment between the transmitter and the receiver. The matching loops are adjusted to maximize the power transfer efficiency of the RBWPT system for the misalignment condition. When the two cases were compared for the best power transfer efficiency, the specific absorption rates (SAR) in the misalignment case were larger than those in the alignment case. The dosimetric results are discussed in relation to the international safety guidelines.

  • The dimensions of the human body vary by age, sex, and race. The internal structure and outer dimensions of a body exposed to an electromagnetic field is important for accurate dosimetry. The average physical size of Korean adult males between the ages 18 to 24 was investigated, and a male volunteer was selected whose physical condition is within the physical standards, ${\pm}5%$. Magnetic resonance images and partially computerized tomography images of the volunteer were acquired. The intervals between the transverse images were 1 mm for the head and 3 mm for the rest of the body. About 30 different tissues were manually classified by an anatomist on the raw images, and the segmented images were implemented in the form of a text file appropriate for numerical formulation.

  • In 1995, the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) Task Group 43 published a report dealing with the dosimetry of interstitial brachytherapy sources, generally known as the TG-43 report. Compared to previously adopted formalisms, a formalism proposed in this report provides a more accurate and systematic brachytherapy dose calculation method, especially for Ir-192 and other low energy gamma sources such as 1-125 and Pd-l03. In this lecture, an overview of the TG-43 formalism will be presented, along with the lecturer's experience in determining the TG-43 parameters by the Monte Carlo method and experimental methods such as TLD and radiochromic film.

  • The H.B. Robinson Unit 2 (HBR-2) pressure vessel dosimetry benchmark is an in- and ex-Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) neutron dosimetry benchmark based on experimental data from the HBR-2 reactor, a 2300-MW PWR designed by Westinghouse and put in operation in March 1971, openly available through the SINBAD Database at OECD/NEA data Bank. The goals of the present work were to carry out three-dimensional (3D) fixed source transport calculations in both Cartesian (X,Y,Z) and cylindrical (R,θ,Z) geometries by using the TORT-3.2 discrete ordinates code on very detailed 3D HBR-2 geometrical models and to test the latest broad-group coupled (47 neutron groups + 20 photon groups) working cross section libraries in FIDO-ANISN format with same structure as BUGLE-96, such as BUGJEFF311.BOLIB, BUGENDF70.BOLIB and BUGLE-B7. The results obtained with all the cited libraries were satisfactory and are here reported and compared.

  • Alnine pellets were installed in a nuclear power plant for one or two operation cycles and measured by electron spin resonance (ESR) spectrometers for dosimetry. Dose and "x/y ratio", i.e., satellite peak over main center peak ratio, were measured for the returned alanine dosimeters from the nuclear power plant and compared to the values of reference alanine dosimeters exposed only to gamma rays. The variation of the x/y ratio change depended on the population of radicals from each radiation component with different LET. The gamma dose in a mixed radiation field was estimated by an additive gamma ray irradiation experiment and the measured dose rate at specified locations in the containment building.

  • Background: We are developing L-band and S-band microwave dielectric absorption systems aiming novel dosimetry using DNAs, such as plasmid DNA and genomic DNA, and microwave technology. Materials and Methods: Each system is composed of a cavity resonator, analog signal generator, circulator, power meter, and oscilloscope. Since the cavity resonator is sensitive to temperature change, we have made great efforts to prevent the fluctuation of temperature. We have developed software for controlling and measurement. Results and Discussion: By using this system, we can measure the resonance frequency, f, and ${\Delta}Q$ (Q is a dimensionless parameter that describes how under-damped an oscillator or resonator is, and characterizes a resonator's bandwidth relative to its center frequency) within about 3 minutes with high accuracy. Conclusion: This system will be expected to be applicable to DNAs evaluations and to novel dosimetric system.
