Lake's Function on Control of Refractory Dissolved Organic Matter caused by Upstream Rivers to Andong Lake and JinYang Lake (안동호와 진양호의 상류하천발생 난분해성유기물질 제어에 대한 호소의 기능)

  • Variations of load in both DOM and RDOM of inflowing rivers to lakes were in the range of 5.01-7.29(${\times}10^2$ kg/day) for AD lake and 1.23-3.75(${\times}10^3$ kg/day) for JY lake during the research period excluding the period directly affected by the strong rainy season and the monsoon and typhoon season. We observed a good relationship($R^2$ > 0.8) between SS load and DOM load (including RDOM) in both inflowing rivers to JY lake. Therefore, it was determined that SS would be an alternative parameter with a rapid and energy-efficient method for the analysis of both DOC and RDOC, which require the analytical equipment and a long time period. Both AD lake and JY lake may act as a DOM(including RDOM) source through primary production in the fall season. Because AD lake and JY lake may not act as a DOM buffer zone, both lakes couldn't control the DOM and RDOM in spring before the rainy season. Therefore to improve water quality in downstream rivers is needed to remove pollutants such as DOM and RDOM before inflowing to these lakes in upstream rivers, or to have the unique landscape of wetlands as a buffer zone.

Biogeochemical Reactions in Hyporheic Zone as an Ecological Hotspot in Natural Streams (자연 하천의 생태학적 중요 지점으로서 지표수-지하수 혼합대의 생지화학적 기작)

  • Hyporheic zone is an area where hydraulic exchanges occur between surface water and ground water. Such transient area is anticipated to facilitate diverse biogeochemical reactions by providing habitats for various microorganism. However, only a few data are available about microbial properties in hyporheic zone, which would be important in better understanding of biogeochemical reactions in whole streams. The study site is Naesung stream, located in the north Kyoung-Sang Province, of which sediment is sandy with little anthropogenic impacts. Soil samples were collected from a transect placed perpendicular to stream flow. The transect includes upland fringe area dominated by Phragmites japonica, bare soil, and soil adjacent to water. In addition, soil samples were also collected from downwelling and upwelling areas in hyporheic zone within the main channel. Soils were collected from 3 depth in each area, and water content, pH, and DOC were measured. Various microbial properties including extracellular enzyme activities ($\beta$-glucosidase, N-acetylglucosaminidase, phosphatase and arylsulfatase), and microbial community structure using T-RFLP were also determined. The results exhibited a positive correlation between water content and DOC, and between extracellular enzyme activities and DOC. Distinctive patterns were observed in soils adjacent to water and hyporheic zone compared with other soils. Overall results of study provided basic information about microbial properties of hyporheic zone, which appeared to be discernable from other locations in the stream corridor.

Effect of Pore Structure Change on the Adsorption of NOM and THMs in Water Due to the Increase of Reactivation Number of Coal-based Activated Carbon (석탄계 활성탄의 재생 횟수 증가에 따른 세공 구조 변화가 수중의 NOM과 THM 흡착에 미치는 영향)

  • The objective of this research was to evaluate for the changes of pore structures and adsorption capacities due to the increase the numbers of reactivation. The reactivated GAC had experienced three cycles of water treatment and thermal reactivation. The pore size distributions of virgin and reactivated GACs were very different. The virgin GAC was mostly microporous (< $15\;{\AA}$), with less mesopores ($20{\sim}100\;{\AA}$). The reactivated GACs was mostly mesoporous ($20{\sim}100\;{\AA}$), with less micropores (< $15\;{\AA}$). The specific surface area and total pore volume were reduced as the number of reactivation increased. The maximum adsorption capacity (X/M) of virgin GAC ($964.6\;{\mu}g/g$) for $CHCl_3$ was 2~3 times larger than 1st~3rd reactivated GAC ($255.6{\sim}399.5\;{\mu}g/g$). The maximum adsorption capacity (X/M) of virgin GAC (19.5 mg/g) for DOC (dissolved organic carbon) was equal to that of 1st~3rd reactivated GAC (18.0~18.7 mg/g).

Implementing Space-based Networked Documentation for Donghae-Nambu Railway Areas in Busan Metropolitan City (공간 중심의 연계형 기록화의 실행 방안 부산지역 동해남부선을 사례로)

  • This study aims to explore practicable and sustainable strategies for locality documentation through networking, linking, and recontextualization of records in digital environments. It applies the 'spanDoc(SPAace-based Networked Documentation) Model to document Donghae-Nambu Railway areas placed in Busan Metropolitan City tentatively. Considering that mobility and openness are the main characteristics of Busan, railway areas and their stations can be proper places for representing such localities of the city. Moreover, there can be much experiences and memories of residents surrounding those areas, because Donghae-Nambu Railway has been used as short distance transportation facilities across the inner city of Busan since 1930's. This study tries to implement the documentation strategy for the selected space, following the procedures of the spanDoc Model. Firstly, this study develops the structure of the subjects through investigating the related information sources and archives from various collecting institutions. Secondly, it carries out records surveys to identify the essential records types for documenting the Donghae-Nambu Railway areas. Thirdly, it describes the subjects and sub-subjects, and the entries of places, people and subjects for adding to the dictionaries. Finally, it links many entities such as subjects, records, and dictionary, and builds the databases regarding the inter-links and systematic accumulation of the outputs of each step.

Development of an Intelligent Illegal Gambling Site Detection Model Based on Tag2Vec (Tag2vec 기반의 지능형 불법 도박 사이트 탐지 모형 개발)

  • Illegal gambling through online gambling sites has become a significant social problem. The development of Internet technology and the spread of smartphones have led to the proliferation of illegal gambling sites, so now illegal online gambling has become accessible to anyone. In order to mitigate its negative effect, the Korean government is trying to detect illegal gambling sites by using self-monitoring agents or reporting systems such as 'Nuricops.' However, it is difficult to detect all illegal sites due to limitations such as a lack of staffing. Accordingly, several scholars have proposed intelligent illegal gambling site detection techniques. Xu et al. (2019) found that fake or illegal websites generally have unique features in the HTML tag structure. It implies that the HTML tag structure can be important for detecting illegal sites. However, prior studies to improve the model's performance by utilizing the HTML tag structure in the illegal site detection model are rare. Against this background, our study aimed to improve the model's performance by utilizing the HTML tag structure and proposes Tag2Vec, a modified version of Doc2Vec, as a methodology to vectorize the HTML tag structure properly. To validate the proposed model, we perform the empirical analysis using a data set consisting of the list of harmful sites from 'The Cheat' and normal sites through Google search. As a result, it was confirmed that the Tag2Vec-based detection model proposed in this study showed better classification accuracy, recall, and F1_Score than the URL-based detection model-a comparative model. The proposed model of this study is expected to be effectively utilized to improve the health of our society through intelligent technology.

Fake News Detection on YouTube Using Related Video Information (관련 동영상 정보를 활용한 YouTube 가짜뉴스 탐지 기법)

  • As advances in information and communication technology have made it easier for anyone to produce and disseminate information, a new problem has emerged: fake news, which is false information intentionally shared to mislead people. Initially spread mainly through text, fake news has gradually evolved and is now distributed in multimedia formats. Since its founding in 2005, YouTube has become the world's leading video platform and is used by most people worldwide. However, it has also become a primary source of fake news, causing social problems. Various researchers have been working on detecting fake news on YouTube. There are content-based and background information-based approaches to fake news detection. Still, content-based approaches are dominant when looking at conventional fake news research and YouTube fake news detection research. This study proposes a fake news detection method based on background information rather than content-based fake news detection. In detail, we suggest detecting fake news by utilizing related video information from YouTube. Specifically, the method detects fake news through CNN, a deep learning network, from the vectorized information obtained from related videos and the original video using Doc2vec, an embedding technique. The empirical analysis shows that the proposed method has better prediction performance than the existing content-based approach to detecting fake news on YouTube. The proposed method in this study contributes to making our society safer and more reliable by preventing the spread of fake news on YouTube, which is highly contagious.

COVID-19-related Korean Fake News Detection Using Occurrence Frequencies of Parts of Speech (품사별 출현 빈도를 활용한 코로나19 관련 한국어 가짜뉴스 탐지)

  • The COVID-19 pandemic, which began in December 2019 and continues to this day, has left the public needing information to help them cope with the pandemic. However, COVID-19-related fake news on social media seriously threatens the public's health. In particular, if fake news related to COVID-19 is massively spread with similar content, the time required for verification to determine whether it is genuine or fake will be prolonged, posing a severe threat to our society. In response, academics have been actively researching intelligent models that can quickly detect COVID-19-related fake news. Still, the data used in most of the existing studies are in English, and studies on Korean fake news detection are scarce. In this study, we collect data on COVID-19-related fake news written in Korean that is spread on social media and propose an intelligent fake news detection model using it. The proposed model utilizes the frequency information of parts of speech, one of the linguistic characteristics, to improve the prediction performance of the fake news detection model based on Doc2Vec, a document embedding technique mainly used in prior studies. The empirical analysis shows that the proposed model can more accurately identify Korean COVID-19-related fake news by increasing the recall and F1 score compared to the comparison model.

Monitoring of Groundwater quality according to groundwater use for agriculture (농업용 지하수 사용에 따른 지하수질 모니터링 평가)

  • 본 연구에서는 여름철에 농업용수(벼농사용)로서 집중적으로 지하수를 사용하는 지역에서 시기별 지하수 사용에 따른 지하수 수질변화를 평가하기 위해 수행되었다. 연구지역은 충남 홍성군 양곡리와 신곡리 일부를 포함하는 면적 2.83 ㎢(283.3 ha)에 해당하는 지역이다. 연구지역 지하수 수질의 공간적 분포 및 시간적 변화 특성 평가를 위하여 2019년 2회(7월, 10월)에 걸쳐 지하수 관정(21개소)에 대하여 조사 및 분석을 수행하였다. 지하수 샘플은 현장에서 온도(T), pH, 용존산소(DO) 및 전기전도도(EC), 산화환원전위(Eh) 등을 측정하였고, 실험실에서 주요 양이온 및 미량원소(Ca, Mg, Na, K, Si, Sr), 음이온(F, Cl, Br, NO2, NO3, PO4, SO4), 알칼리도, 용존 유기탄소(DOC)와 용존 유기물(DOM) 등을 분석하였다. 지하수 수질조사 결과, 전체의 14~15개소(67~71%)가 Ca-HCO3 유형으로 분류되었으며, 다음으로는 Ca-Cl 유형이 4~5개소(19~24%)가 관찰되었다. 얕은 심도의 관정에서 상대적으로 심도가 깊은 관정보다 대부분 성분(TDS, Ca, Mg, Na, K, Cl, SO4, HCO3, DOC)에서 높은 농도를 나타내었다. 지하수의 수질자료를 이용하여 다변량통계분석법인 주성분분석(PCA: Principal Components Analysis)과 계층적 군집분석(HCA: Hierachical Cluster Anlaysis)를 수행한 결과, 초기 3개 주요 고유성분(eigenvalue)는 PC1 54.0%, PC2 14.2%, PC3 12.3%로 전체 분산의 88.3%를 설명할 수 있었다. PC1은 Ca, Mg, Na, K, Cl, SO4, DOC가 주요한 영향 인자였으며 PC2는 HCO3, NO3, DO에 영향 받음을 확인하였다. 계층적 군집분석 결과, 연구지역 지하수는 Na-Cl 유형의 C-3 관정을 제외하고는 크게 두 그룹으로 구분되어 졌다. 다변량통계분석의 결과에서도 수리지화학, 동위원소, 용존유기물 등의 특성에서 나타나는 것과 유사한 연구지역의 수질특성을 확인할 수 있었다. 연구지역은 차시기 동안 수질변화는 일부 관정을 제외하고는 유의할 만한 수준으로 관찰되지는 않았고, 지하수 사용에 따른 지하수위 회복도 빠르게 진행되고 있는 것으로 나타났다.

  • LOSA is spreading rapidly over the world to improve safety of the airlines using threat and error management system. LOSA has shown its success on the major improvement on many areas including the riskiest phase called the blue box, which is the busiest during approach and landing. Asiana Airlines has completed data collection in 2004 and round table for the data cleaning, to implement safety change process. The propose of this paper is to introduce the LOSA, ICAO DOC 9803, and the experience of Asiana.
