DNC System Conversion of CNC Machine Tools for FMS (FMS를 위한 CNC 공작기계의 DNC 시스템 변환)

  • This paper describes the development of Behind-Tape-Reader (BTR) type DNC system using CYBER 180-830 as a central computer and IBM PC-AT cell control computer and NC lathe with FANUC 5T NC controller. In this system, the connection between central computer and cell control computer is done via RS-232C serial interface board, and that between cell control computer and FANUC 5T controller is done via parallel interface board. The software consists of two module, central computer communication module for NC program downloading and status uploading, NC machine running module for NC operating.

  • A mold plant is characterized by complex processes, frequent schedule changes, and lots of troubles. In order to control the production in mold plant efficiently, huge amount of informations are to be managed in the appropriate way. In this paper, a modular software system for production control is described, which is located between a higher level production planning system and a process control system. It contains the functions such as order processing, operations scheduling and control, tool managemant, NC program managememt including DNC functions, production data acquisition and progress control and statistics.

  • 본 논문은 2D도면을 제작하는 모듈과 기본커널 기능을 이용한 2D판재 네스팅 기능을 구현한 시스템을 활용하여 2D도면으로 만들어진 부품의 형상을 구매된 원자재에 자동/수동으로 배치하면서 자재의 손실을 최소화 할 수 있으며, 절단 경로, DNC, 각종 자재 및 생산정보를 산출할 수 있는 모듈을 개발하여 구현한다. 이 시스템의 기대효과로는 좀 더 편하고 좀 더 정확하게 다양한 원자재를 생산할 수 있도록 하는 것과 오차가 크게 발생했을 시 재작업을 하는 경우를 방지하고, 보다 효율 높은 알고리즘을 응용 개발함으로써 또 다른 분야로 활용성을 높이기 위한 것이다.

Communication Software Development and Experiments for a Cell Controller in a CIM System (자동화 시스템내 셀 제어기의 통신 소프트웨어 개발 및 실험)

  • The demand for automatic manufacturing systems is increasing. Flexible Manufacturing System(FMS) is usually considered as a soluting for the shop floor automation. One of the difficulties in FMS is the communications problem. Since various machineries with different communications protocoles are included, applying a unified scheme is almost impossible. Therefore, a systematic approach is a key point to solve the communication problem. A cell is difined as an automation unit where closely related for a job reside together. A cell is a messenger between upper level computers and lower level machine equipment. In this research, the fonctions of the cell are defined to have more capabilities than conventional cells since a cell can be often a total manufacturing system is a small to medium sized factory. The cell conducts communications with different machines through the communications schemes established here. A set of software system has been developed according to the defined communication. The software has been tested for a simulation and real experiments for proof.

A Study on the Avidance of Tool Interference in Free form Surface Machining (3차원 자유곡면 가공에 있어서의 공구간섭방지에 관한 연구)

  • Tool interference is one of the most critical problems in sculptured surface machining. When machining cavities and concaves, the tool frequently overcuts the portions of the surface, which cause inaccuracy in machining. So tool interference-free paths must be generated for rough cutting more efficiently. In this paper a software using SSI(Surface/Surface intersection) algorithm is developed for eliminating tool interference which occurs in an offset surface in 3-dimensional free form surface modeling. this work consists of two stages : using the offset data, the intersection curves are rapidly checked by this algorithm at the first stage. CL(cutter location) data are obtained by deleting the loop section of intersected offset patches at the second stage. This algorithm can reduce the amount of memory required to store machining data and also easily check region which have the possibility of intersection. Also, This software is verified to be useful in machining a curved object on a DNC milling machine.

  • The purpose of this study is the machining of texture shapes by the contour fitting data. The hardware of the system comprises PC and scanning system, CO2 laser machine. There are four steps, (1) text image loading using scanning shapes or 2D image files, (2) generation of contour fitting data by the line and arc, cubic Bezier curve, (3) generation of NC code from the contouring fitting data, (4) machining by the DNC system. It is developed a software package, with which can conduct a micro CAM system of CNC laser machine in the PC without economical burden.
