A Study on the Triphone Replacement in a Speech Recognition System with DMS Phoneme Models

  • This paper proposes methods that replace a missing triphone with a new one selected or created by existing triphones, and compares the results. The recognition system uses DMS (Dynamic Multisection) model for acoustic modeling. DMS is one of the statistical recognition techniques proper to a small - or mid - size vocabulary system, while HMM (Hidden Markov Model) is a probabilistic technique suitable for a middle or large system. Accordingly, it is reasonable to use an effective algorithm that is proper to DMS, rather than using a complicated method like a polyphone clustering technique employed in HMM-based systems. In this paper, four methods of filling missing triphones are presented. The result shows that a proposed replacing algorithm works almost as well as if all the necessary triphones existed. The experiments are performed on the 500+ word DMS speech recognizer.

GDI 엔진의 냉각수온에 따른 연소성능 및 입자상 물질 배출 특성 (Dependence of Nanoparticle and Combustion Characteristics of Gasoline Direct Injection Engines on Coolant Temperature)

  • 본 논문에서는 GDI 엔진의 냉각수 온도에 따른 연소 및 배출가스 특성을 연구하였다. 엔진에서 나오는 입자상 물질의 수와 크기 분포는 DMS-500 장비로 측정하였다. 배기포트 에 장착된 CLD-400 과 HFR-400 을 통해 NOx 및 THC 의 배출 특성을 연소주기 별로 측정하였다. 결과적으로 낮은 냉각수온에서 5~10 nm 의 입자상 물질이 크게 증가하는 특성을 보였다. THC 또한 낮은 냉각수온에서 증가하는 특성을 보였는데 이는 연소실 내 연료의 액막현상 때문이다. 그리고 NOx 는 높은 냉각수온에서 감소하는 특성을 보였는데 이는 내부 EGR 이 증가하기 때문이다. 결론적으로 THC 와 NOx 그리고 입자상 물질의 배출을 줄이기 위해서는 냉각수온을 빠르게 올리는 EMS 변수 설정 필요하다.

  • This paper was focused on the particulate matter (PM) on the gasoline and bio ethanol. Bio ethanol as a clean fuel is considered one of the alternative fuels that decreased the PM emission from the vehicle. Particle formation in SI engine was depended on the fuel and engine operating condition. In this paper, Particle number concentration behaviors were analyzed by DMS500 (Differential Mobility Spectrometer) and CPC (Condensation Particle Counter) instrument which was recommended by PMP (Particle Measurement Programme). Particle emissions were measured with various engine operating variables such as air excess ratio ($\lambda$), spark timing and intake valve opening (IVO) at part load condition. In vehicle test, the number of particulate matter was analyzed with golden particle measurement system, which was consist of CVS (Constant Volume Sampler), particle number counter and particle number diluter.

  • This paper describes an overview of the system designed for 500-word speech recognition. The system is based on the triphone models and uses Dynamic Multisection(DMS) technique for pattern matching. The system is very flexible in the sense of the word-dictionary which is changable spontaneously without any training. The vocabulary selected for the experiments is 561 words of province names, district names of Seoul and Pusan. The experimental results which will be shown here are preliminary because only one speaker was involved in the experiments. But the result is satisfactory when we see the performance is 95.1%. The system is designed on the Windows-95 and works in realtime on the Pentium-133 computer.

Rutile Ti1-xCoxO2-δ p-type Diluted Magnetic Semiconductor Thin Films

  • An attempting to produce a p-type diluted magnetic semiconductor (DMS) using $Ti_{1-x}Co_xO_{2-\delta}-based$ thin films was made by suitable control of the deposition parameters including deposition temperature, deposition pressure, and doping level using a pulsed laser deposition method. T$Ti_{0.97}Co_{0.03}O_{2-\delta}-based$ (TCO) films deposited at $500^{\circ}C$ at a pressure of $5\times10^{-6}$ Torr showed an anomalous Hall effect with p-type characteristics. On the other hand, films deposited at $700^{\circ}C$ at $5\times10^{-6}$ Torr showed n-type behaviors by a decreased solubility of cobalt. The charge carrier concentration in the p-type TCO films was approximately $7.9\times10^{22}/cm^3$ at 300 K and the anomalous Hall effect in the p-type TCO films was controlled by a side-jump scattering mechanism. The magnetoresistance (MR), measured at 5 K in p-type TCO films showed a positive behavior in an applied magnetic field and the MR ratio was approximately 3.5 %. The successful preparation of p-type DMS using the TCO films has the potential for use in magnetic tunneling junction devices.

바이오-에탄올연료 및 분사방식에 따른 엔진 나노입자 배출 특성 (Emission Characteristics of Nano-sized Particles in Bio-ethanol Fuelled Engine with Different Injection Type)

  • As an experiment investigation, the effects of ethanol blended gasoline fuel with different injection method on nano-sized particle emission characteristics were examined in a 0.5L spark-ignited single-cylinder engine with a compression ratio of 10. Because this engine nano-particles are currently attracting interest due to its adverse health effects and their impact on the environments. So a pure gasoline and an ethanol blended gasoline fuels, namely E85 fuel, used for this study. And, as a particle measuring instrument, a fast-response particle spectrometer (DMS 500) with heated sample line was used for continuous measurement of the particle size and number distribution in the size range of 5 to 1000nm (aerodynamic diameter). As this research results, we found that the effect of ethanol blending gasoline caused drastic decrease of nano-particle emissions when port fuel injection was used for making better air-fuel mixture than direct fuel injection. Also injection timing, specially direct fuel injection, could be a dominant factor in controlling the exhaust particle emissions.

  • 본 연구는 승용 디젤엔진의 입자상 물질 배출특성에 관한 것으로써, 엔진에서 배출된 입자상 물질이 배기관 및 후처리장치인 디젤산화촉매와 매연여과장치를 통과할 때의 특성 변화를 파악하기 위하여 후처리장치 각각 전 후단 및 배기관에서 직접 측정하였다. 또한 다양한 엔진회전속도 및 부하조건에서 측정함으로써 입자상 물질 배출 맵을 구축하였으며, 디젤산화촉매 및 매연여과장치의 입자상 물질 저감효과에 대해 평가하였다. 뿐만 아니라 배기재순환율과 연료분사시기를 변경시켜 입자상 물질의 배출특성 변화를 파악하였다. 모든 시험에서 입자상 물질을 5~1000nm 크기까지 측정할 수 있는 DMS500을 이용하였다.

SPME에 기초한 VOC 및 주요 악취물질들의 상대적 검량특성에 대한 연구 (A Study of Relative Performance of SPME Method for the Analysis of VOC and Some Major Odorous Compounds)

  • In this study, the performance characteristics of solid phase microextraction (SPME) were investigated for three major odorous groups that consist of 10 individual compounds ([1] volatile organic compounds (VOC): benzene, toluene, p-xylene and styrene, [2] reduced sulfur compounds (RSC): hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan, dimethylsulfide (DMS), dimethyldisulfide (DMDS), and carbon disulfide, and [3] amine: trimethylamine (TMA)). For the purpose of a comparative analysis, two types of SPME fiber ([1] polidimethylsiloxane/divinilbenzene (P/D) and [2] $Carboxen^{TM}$/polidimethylsiloxane (C/P)) were test ε d against each other for a series of standards prepared at different concentration levels (100, 200, and 500 ppb). To compare the analytical performance of each fiber, all standards were analyzed for the acquisition of calibration data sets for each compound. The results of P/D fiber generally showed that its calibration slope increased as a function of molecular weight across different VOCs; however, those of C/P fiber showed a fairly reversed trend. Besides, we confirmed that the application of SPME is limited to many sulfur compounds; only two compounds (DMS and DMDS) are sensitive enough to draw calibration results out of SPME. The calibration data for RSC show generally enhanced slop values for C/P relative to P/D fiber. However, in the case of TMA, we were not able to find a notable difference in their performance.

Modulation of Defect States in Co- and Fe-implanted Silicon by Rapid Thermal Annealing

  • The dilute magnetic semiconductors (DMS) have been developed to multi-functional electro-magnetic devices. Specially, the Si based DMS formed by ion implantation have strong advantages to improve magnetic properties because of the controllable effects of carrier concentration on ferromagnetism. In this study, we investigated the deep level states of Fe- and Co-ions implanted Si wafer during rapid thermal annealing (RTA) process. The p-type Si (100) wafers with hole concentration of $1{\times}10^{16}cm^{-3}$ were uniformly implanted by Fe and Co ions at a dose of $1{\times}10^{16}cm^{-2}$ with an energy of 60 keV. After RTA process at temperature ranges of $500{\sim}900^{\circ}C$ for 5 min in nitrogen ambient, the Au electrodes with thickness of 100 nm were deposited to fabricate a Schottky contact by thermal evaporator. The surface morphology, the crystal structure, and the defect state for Fe- and Co- ion implanted p-type Si wafers were investigated by an atomic force microscopy, a x-ray diffraction, and a deep level transient spectroscopy, respectively. Finally, we will discuss the physical relationship between the electrical properties and the variation of defect states for Fe- and Co-ions implanted Si wafer after RTA.

디젤연소가능 청정연료(ULSD, Bio-Diesel, DME)엔진의 극미세입자 정량화 및 촉매 영향 (Characteristics of Nano-particle Emitted by Auto-ignited Engine with ULSD, Bio-diesel and DME Fuel and Effects of Oxidation Catalyst on Its Reduction)

  • In this experimental study, the effects of clean alternative fuels compatible with diesel combustion on nano-sized particle emission characteristics were investigated in a 0.5L auto-ignited single-cylinder engine with a compression ratio of 15. Because the number concentration of nano-sized particles emitted by automotive engine, that are suspected of being hazardous to human health and environment, might increase with engine fuel considerably and recently attracted attention. So a ultra-low sulfur diesel(ULSD), BD100(100% bio-diesel) and Di-Methyl Ether(DME) fuels used for this study. And, as a particle measuring instrument, a fast-response particle spectrometer (DMS 500) with heated sample line was used for continuous measurement of the particle size and number distribution in the size range of 5 to 1000nm (aerodynamic diameter). As this research results, we found that this measurements involving the large proportion of particles under size order of 300nm and number concentration of $4{\times}10^9$ allowed a single or bi-modal distribution to be found at different engine load conditions. Also the influence of oxygen content in fuel and the catalyst could be a dominant factor in controlling the nano-sized particle emissions in auto-ignited engine.
