The results were as follows; 1. def rate of the poliomyelitis children was 68.63% (male 66.67%, female 71.43%) and was low value compare with that of control group of 78.64% (M 75.93%, F81.63%). 2. def index per person of poliomyelitis children was 2.37 (M 2.00, F 2.91) and was low in number compare with that of 3.29 (M 3.33, F 3.24) in control group children. 3. DMF rate of the poliomyelitis children was 59.41% (M 54.55%, F 62.79%) and was higher value than that of 48.28% (M 37.88%, F 59.96%) in control group. 4. DMF incidence per person in poliomyelitis was 1.62 (M1.48, F1.89) and was also higher in number than that of 1. 220 (M 0.85, F 1.49) in control group. 5. The dental caries incidence was higher in female than in male.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the sperm viability, normal acrosome and mitochondrial activity in the frozen-thawed fowl semen by different cryoprotectants. The experiment was carried out on 10 sexually adult roosters of Ogye. The semen was collected twice a week and pooled semen was diluted 1:1 EK extender containing no cryoprotectant at $5^{\circ}C$. After equilibration for 30 minutes, diluted chicken semen was diluted 1:1 extender containing either 7% dimethylacetamide (DMA), 7% dimethylformamide (DMF) or 7.5% methylacetamide (MA) at final concentration and was put in 0.5 mL plastic straws and frozen for 30 minutes by exposure to liquid nitrogen vapor 4 cm above the surface of liquid nitrogen, followed by plunging into liquid nitrogen. Frozen semen was thawed in water bath at $5^{\circ}C$ for 2 minutes. For cytometric analysis, the frozen-thawed semen was diluted with EK extender to a final concentration of 90 million spermatozoa per mL. Sperm membrane integrity was evaluated as SYBR-14 and propidium iodide (PI). Acrosome integrity was assessed with fluorescein isothiocyanate-labeled PSA and PI. The percentage of mitochondrial function was estimated by using Rhodamine123 (R123) and PI. In conclusion, freezing rooster semen by using 7% DMF as cryoprotectant was significantly highest in rates of survival and mitochondrial function while its rate of damage of acrosome was significantly lowest. As a result, DMF is the cryoprotectant that has the lowest influences on sperm membranes and acrosome integrity. Therefore it could be used for freezing method of animal genetic conservation method for poultry diversity.

Cr(VI)-heterocyclic complex[Cr(VI)-isoquinoline] was synthesized by the reaction between of heterocyclic compound(isoquinoline) and chromium trioxide, and characterized by IR and ICP analysis. The oxidation of benzyl alcohol using Cr(VI)-isoquinoline in various solvents showed that the reactivity increased with the increase of the dielectric constant(${\varepsilon}$), in the order : cyclohexene$CH_3$, m-Br, m-$NO_2$). Electron- donating substituents accelerated the reaction, whereas electron acceptor groups retarded the reaction. The Hammett reaction constant(${\rho}$) was -0.69(308K). The observed experimental data have been ratiolized. The hydride ion transfer causes the prior formation of a chromate ester in the rate-determining step.

We synthesized (C10H8N2H)2Cr2O7, The structure of the product was characterized with FT-IR(infrared) and elemental analysis. The oxidation of benzyl alcohol by (C10H8N2H)2Cr2O7 in organic solvents showed that the reactivity increased with the increase of the dielectric constant. The oxidation of alcohols was examined by (C10H8N2H)2Cr2O7 in DMF, acetone. As a resuit, (C10H8N2H)2Cr2O7 was found as efficicent oxidizing agent that converted benzyl alcohol, allyl alcohol, primary alcohol and secondary alcohols to the corresponding aldehydes or ketones(65%~95%). The selective oxidation of alcohols was also examined by (C10H8N2H)2Cr2O7 in DMF, acetone. (C10H8N2H)2Cr2O7 was selective oxidizing agent(15%~95%) of benzyl alcohol, allyl alcohol and primary alcohol in the presence of secondary ones. In the presence of DMF solvent with acidic catalyst such as H2SO4. (C10H8N2H)2Cr2O7 oxidized benzyl alcohol(H) and its derivatives. The Hammett reaction constant(ρ) was -0.69(308K). The observed experimental data were used to rationalize the hydride ion transfer in the rate determining step.

For the purpose of knowing oral status of handicapped persons and surveying correlative factors, authors interviewed and inspected 259 persons (cerebral palsy 143, mental retardation 101, Down's syndrome 15) from six year to thirty years old in Kwangju. The results were as follows. 1. The dmf rate and dft index of handicapped persons according to age were lower than that of report of normal persons. 2. The DMF rate and DMFT index of handicapped persons increased with age and were similar to or lower than that of report of normal persons by the age of twenty, but were higher after that age. There was no significant difference between handicaps in DMFT rate. 3. Percentage of toothbrushing by himself or herself was 74% in mental retardation, 69% in Down's syndrome, and 48% in cerebral palsy and the frequency of toothbrushing per day of mental retardation, Down's syndrome was higher than that of cerebral palsy. The frequency of toothbrushing per day increased with age. The number of toothbrushing of handicapped persons was slightly higher than that of report of normal persons. 4. Prevalence of gingivitis was 62% in cerebral palsy, 48% in Down's syndrome and 60% in mental retardation. Prevalence of gingivitis increased with age, and was higher than that of report of normal persons. 5. Percentage of tooth anomaly was 15% in Down's syndrome, 8.5% in mental retardation and 4.9% in cerebral palsy. In this study, dental caries of handicapped persons was similar to or lower than that of normal persons and increased with age. The prevalence of gingivitis was much higher in handicapped persons. Subject or frequency of toothbrushing had no influence on the dental caries and gingivitis, education of oral health and system are needed.

The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between salivary flow, salivary buffer capacity, level of mutans streptococci and dental caries experience in Korean dental college students. A total of 81 students of the school of dentistry, Chonbuk national university, mean age of 26.1 years, were subjected to oral examination to establish the DMFT and DMFS according to WHO guidelines. Saliva samples from the students were collected for quantitating stimulated and unstimulated salivary flow rate. Buffering capacity was estimated using a commercial colorimetric strip test, and number of mutans streptococci was determined from stimulated saliva using a strip mutans test. The means of DMFT and DMFS were 6.57 and 12.65, respectively. The stimulated salivary flow rate was correlated with DMFT(${\acute{o}}\;=\;-0.219$) and high levels of salivary mutans streptococci were significantly correlated with higher DMFT and DMFS scores(P<0.05). Level of mutans streptococci was significantly correlated with dental caries experience, in both DMFT and DMFS score, and buffering capacity was inversely correlated to DMFT score. However, unstimulated salivary flow rate was not correlated with caries experience.
Objectives : By analyzing the affects of the mother's oral care to the caries experiences of the elementary school children, To looking for the way to prevent dental caries in the primary school, to provide baseline data to perform the associated oral health education. Methods : Between the 3,676 children's dental check-up data and the 2,934 survey of parents from 9 elementary schools in the the Gyeonggi Province, the exactly matching data of 2,358 pairs, children versus mothers, were analyzed during the period, 2009 May 4 to July 20, By using the PASW 18(SPSS-PC 18), Frequency analysis of the collected data, and cross-analysis, ANOVA, Bonferroni post-analysis was performed. Results : The findings of the study were as follows. 1. In children, the ratio(DMF rate)of the dental caries experience in permanent teeth, appeared higher for men than women. Divided by grade level, the ratio of caries experience in the permanent teeth(DMF rate) generally appear higher in older than young. Thus between the child's gender and grade level by the ratio of caries experience in the permanent teeth(DMF rate) showed the statistically significant differences (p<0.05). 2. Between the socioeconomic characteristics of mothers and the children's level of dental caries experiences, not showed the statistically significant difference.(p>0.05). 3. The significant difference showed between the dental caries levels of the children and the mother's oral health care behavior - a toothbrush replacement period, mother's broken teeth, mothers guidances of the brushing after snacks for children(p<0.05). Conclusions : The mother's oral health attitudes and behaviors can affect to their children's oral care habits. Therefore The mother themselves should have the right proper habit of oral health care, so that in oral health care mothers should be the model for their children. Institutionally more systematic and detailed oral health educational program in conjunction with the family is needed.
A series of tetradentate Schiff-base ligands; 1,3-bis(salicylideneimino) propane, 1,4-bis(salicylideneimino)butane, and 1,5-bis(salicylideneimino)pentane, and their Cu(Ⅱ) and Ni(Ⅱ) complexes have been synthesized. The properties of ligands and complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, NMR, UV-Vis spectra, molar conductance, and thermogravimetric anaylsis. The mole ratio of Schiff base to metal at complexes was found to be 1 : 1. All complexes were four-coordinated configuration and non-ionic compound. The electrochemical redox processes of the ligands and their complexes in DMF solution containing 0.1 M TEAP as supporting electrolyte have been investigated by cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, differential pulse voltammetry at glassy carbon electrode, and by controlled potential coulometry at platinum gauze electrode. The redox process of the ligands was highly irreversible, whereas redox process of Cu(Ⅱ) and Ni(Ⅱ) complexes was observed as one electron transfer process of quasi-reversible and diffusion-controlled reaction. Also the electrochemical redox potentials of complexes were affected by chelate ring size of ligands. The diffusion coefficients of Cu(Ⅱ) and Ni(Ⅱ) complexes in DMF solution were determined to be 4.2-6.6×10-6 cm2/sec. Also the exchange rate constants were determined to be 3.6-9.7×10-2 cm/sec.
