  • 본 논문에서는 차량용 음성명령어기의 사용을 위한 전처리 과정으로 음성개선 방법을 다룬다. 특히 DMB 사용환경에서 보다 주위 소음에 자유롭고 단말 조작에 있어 안정성을 보장하기 위하여 일반적 단인 마이크로폰으로 처리되는 잡음뿐만 아니라 음성명령어를 제외한 오디오 신호 등 비정적 통계적 특성을 갖는 소음들도 제거 될 수 있도록 음성개선 방법을 제안한다. 우리는 2개의 마이크로폰을 가지고 BSS 알고리즘을 적용하여 비정적 신호들을 분리하고, 분리된 신호에 대하여 Kalman Filter를 이용하여 시간상 단구간 정적 잡음을 제거한다. 본 논문의 인식 실험 결과를 통하여 공간적, 시간적 음성개선 방법이 순차적으로 적용될 때, 실제 차량 환경에서 음성 개선 알고리즘으로 적용될 수 있음을 보였다

  • T-DMB (Terrestrial-Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) adopted MPEG-4 BIFS (Binary Format for Scene) Core2D scene description profile and graphics profile as the standard of video associated data service. By using BIFS, we can support to overlay objects, i.e. text, stationary image, circle, polygon, etc., on the main display of receiving end according to the properties designated in broadcasting side and to make clickable buttons and website links on desired objects. Therefore, a variety of interactive data services can be served by BIFS. In this paper, we implement real-time video associated data service system far T-DMB. Our developing system places emphasis on real-time data service by user operation and on inter-working and stability with our previously developed video encoder. Our system consists of BIFS Real-time System, Automatic Stream Control System and Receiving Monitoring System. Basic functions of our system are designed to reflect T-DMB programs and characteristics of program production environment as a top priority. Our developed system was used in BIFS trial service via KBS T-DMB, it is supposed to be used in T-DMB main service after improvement process such as intensifying system stability.

  • This paper presents the requirements analysis for the Terrestrial DMB Automatic Emergency Alert Service (AEAS) Standard. First, the basic concepts in disaster management and the AEAS system structure are presented as a background. Next, other emergency alert systems and the related standards are analyzed. We propose taxonomy to categorize the emergency alert systems and analyze the characteristics of each system. Next, we analyze advantages of T-DMB for the delivery medium of emergency alert message and problems to resolve for the enhanced performance. Finally, we propose service requirements which will achieve general/special-purpose, non-interrupting, location-adaptive, automatic, message delivery service. The paper will contribute as a guideline to the development for emergency alert service standards for other broadcasting media.

  • 최근 차량통신 환경에서의 위성/지상파 DMB 등 차량통신에 대한 관심이 증대되고, 전 세계적으로 기술개발이 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 그러나 좁고 긴 도로 내에 차량이 수시로 들락거려 일정한 통신 구심점을 찾는 것이 쉽지 않고, 빠르게 이동하는 차량의 특성으로 채널 특성이 좋지않 으며, 차량통신을 위한 인프라가 충분히 설치되지 않을 경우 V2I 통신의 어려움 등이 문제점으로 지적될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 차량통신 네트워크의 효율적 운용을 위한 적응적 클러스터링(Clustering) 기법을 제안하도록 한다. 제안된 적응적 클러스터링 방법에서는 차량의 속도, 위치, 차량 간 거리에 의하여 수시로 클러스터가 적응적으로 재구성된다. 이를 위해 효율적인 클러스터해드 설정이 이루어지며, 차량통신 인프라, 클러스터해드를 중심으로 통신이 이루어진다. 제안된 기법은 제한된 인프라에서도 이중 홉 통신 및 적응적 클러스터 재구성을 통하여 차량의 네트워크 연결성을 높인다. 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통하여 적응적 클러스터링 방법의 성능을 알아보도록 한다. 모의실험을 통하여 빠른 속도로 움직이는 차량의 네트워크 접근성을 확인하고, 차량 밀도 및 인프라 간 거리에 따른 성능변화를 확인한다.

  • This paper presents a design of a multi-band infernal antenna for mobile handsets which can cover the major mobile services such as WiBro/WiMAX mobile internet services and Media-FLO/S-DMB services. Using wideband monopole antenna structure, the proposed antenna obtains the wide bandwidth characteristic at high Sequency band to be applicable for new mobile services. Stacking meandered radiator on the wideband monopole radiator and obtaining the different current path and lenga on these stacked radiators, overall antenna volume is effectively reduced. The measured bandwidths (VSWR<3) of the proposed antenna is 270 MHz and 2032 MHz at low and high band, respectively. This antenna can effectively covers major wireless communication bands including Media-FLO, CDMA, GSM, GPS, DCS, PCS, UMTS, WiBro, WiMAX, and S-DMB.

Design of a Fully Integrated Low Power CMOS RF Tuner Chip for Band-III T-DMB/DAB Mobile TV Applications (Band-III T-DMB/DAB 모바일 TV용 저전력 CMOS RF 튜너 칩 설계)

  • This paper describes a fully integrated CMOS low-IF mobile-TV RF tuner for Band-III T-DMB/DAB applications. All functional blocks such as low noise amplifier, mixers, variable gain amplifiers, channel filter, phase locked loop, voltage controlled oscillator and PLL loop filter are integrated. The gain of LNA can be controlled from -10 dB to +15 dB with 4-step resolutions. This provides a high signal-to-noise ratio and high linearity performance at a certain power level of RF input because LNA has a small gain variance. For further improving the linearity and noise performance we have proposed the RF VGA exploiting Schmoock's technique and the mixer with current bleeding, which injects directly the charges to the transconductance stage. The chip is fabricated in a 0.18 um mixed signal CMOS process. The measured gain range of the receiver is -25~+88 dB, the overall noise figure(NF) is 4.02~5.13 dB over the whole T-DMB band of 174~240 MHz, and the measured IIP3 is +2.3 dBm at low gain mode. The tuner rejects the image signal over maximum 63.4 dB. The power consumption is 54 mW at 1.8 V supply voltage. The chip area is $3.0{\times}2.5mm^2$.

  • Cellular network evolution and development of multi-function cellular phones introduce new mobile business mode. Cellular operators provide mobile internet services using the mobile browser such as ME and WAP and the mobile multimedia platform such as WIPI, J2ME, and BREW. New mobile applications are developed using mobile platforms provided by cellular operators as cellular phones having multimedia solutions such as camera, MP3, MPEG, 3D game engine, DMB, PAN such as bluetooth, IrDA, W-LAN, and location information using GPS are developed. Content providers have problems of redevelopment of a mobile application for different mobile platforms. In this paper, we propose a conversion solution for interoperability of applications developed on different mobile platforms of WIPI and BREW. We analyze APIs of WIPI and BREW and develop conversion solutions.

  • Radio, the first broadcasting medium in history, is also the first mobile medium that meets the currently mobile ecology based on mobile communications network. As a result, it is easily approachable to consumers, can easily engage individual consumers, and its program contents have a huge appealing power to individual listeners, allowing it to form intimacy with audiences at the closest distance. However, the listening rating of radio has decreased greatly because it has experienced various changes by many other competitive media such as TV and internet and it has been influenced by relative constant hypothesis. Also, radio now faces a bigger competition due to the emergence of smartphone. In this circumstance, radio showed movements to evolve into a digital radio that presents improved sound, strengthened reception power, and increased number of channels, but it suddenly changed to DMB and portable multimedia DMB is having huge problems in its marketability due to smartphone. Yet, the listening rating of analogue radio broadcasting that remained unchanged was 13.99% in 2014, an increase by 47% from 2011, and the percentage of listeners under the age of 18 increased by 2.4 times from 2011 to 2014, which was a unique and interesting phenomenon. Accordingly, this paper compared the characteristics of internet and radio that have the traits of daily life, information, individuality, participatory, adventurousness, alternative media, expertise, and sound media. The paper then examined the listening method of radio, in which the direct groundwave antenna reception through a vehicular device is the most common form during the use of transportation means. Finally, it sought to investigate the future of radio based on the understanding of the increase in radio listening ratings, especially by comparing it to the characteristics of smart generation that focus on smartphone and the internet The study results demonstrated that entertainment and amusements are attempting at changes while they used to be obtained selectively by the smart generation from fragmentary information. In addition, radio is expected to become an influential medium in the future through its advantages of 'selected information' and reliability. However, considering such possibilities, radio needs to build the expertise and reliability of broadcasting contents much more at the same time as its digitalization, and it will be able to have its own competitiveness by focusing on various experiences and cultural exposures.

  • 멀티미디어 통신이 다변화되는 환경에서 화상회의, DMB 또는 화상통신과 같은 영상 서비스가 중요시 되고 있다. 화상회의나 영상통화의 경우 통신하는 객체의 움직임이 크지 않은 특징이 있으며, 또한 모바일 영상의 경우 영상의 크기가 제한적이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 데이터의 손실을 최소화하며 연산량을 크게 줄일 수 있는 탐색 알고리즘을 제안한다. 움직임이 작은 영상의 특성에 맞춰 탐색을 수행 하여 연상량을 줄임과 동시에 화질의 열화를 최소화한다. 또한 임계값을 적용하여 영상의 불필요한 탐색을 조기 종료 하도록 함으로서 압축과정의 효율을 높일 수 있다.

  • 최근의 전자기기는 소형, 경량화가 가속화되고 있고, 특히 휴대용 기기에서의 MP3, MOD, VOD, DMB, 3D 게임, 등 다양한 멀티미디어 콘텐츠에 대한 일반인의 접근성이 확대됨에 따라 휴대용 기기에서의 입체음향 효과에 대한 사용자의 관심이 고조되고 있다. 하지만, 휴대용 기기에서의 입체음향 효과 구현은 PC 환경에서의 구현과는 다르게, 적은 CPU 점유율, 작은 메모리 사용, 등 열악한 재생환경에서의 구현이 필요해, 기대만큼의 성능을 내기가 쉽지 않다. 이러한 제약된 환경에서 만족스러운 입체음향 효과의 구현을 위해서는 기기별 H/W 특성을 감안한 알고리듬 최적화가 필수이다. 본 논문에서는 휴대용 기기 환경에 최적화된 입체음향 기술과 동향, 국내에서 상용화된 XEN$^{TM}$ 솔루션에 대해 살펴봄으로서 향후 휴대용 기기를 위한 입체음향 기술개발 방향을 제시하고자 한다.
