A Novel Cell Count Method Using Micro Lattice Engraved On A Culture Dish (미세 격자가 형성된 배양 접시를 이용한 새로운 세포 계수 방법)

  • A novel cell count method, which can improve the count efficiency and reduce contamination problem, was presented using micro lattice engraved on culture dish. The micro lattice has feature of $50{\mu}m{\times}50{\mu}m$ rectangular shape, $2{\mu}m$ line width, and $2{\mu}m$ depth in $3mm{\times}3mm$ area. In this paper, nickel mold was fabricated with thickness of 3mm and diameter of 80 mm, and transcription of the micro lattice on a polystyrene cell culture dish was performed by hot embossing at $200\;^{\circ}C$. The tedious and error-prone harvest/load processes of conventional cell counts with a hemocytometer could be omitted, and these advantages became magnified during periodical counts involving long-term cultures. SupT1 cells and HeLa cells were cultivated with the dish for 7 days in $CO_2$ incubator and counted as $371.84/mm^2$ and $123.36/mm^2$, respectively, during the cultivation without harmful effects on the cells.

  • 본 연구는 체외배양 system에서 체외성숙시 경제적인 수정란 생산체계를 검토하고자 체외성숙 배양 용기와 체외수정란생산 계절에 따른 효율을 비교조사하였다. 우선 저가의 국산 Petri dish (35×12 ㎜; SPL, Korea)와 고가의 4-well dish (Nunc, Denmark)를 체외성숙 용기로 사용하였다. 4-well dish 처리구에는 well 당 500 ㎍ 체외성숙 배양액에 50개의 난자를 배양하였고, Petri dish 처리구에서는 3 ㎖의 체외성숙 배양액에 300개 정도의 oocytes를 넣어 24시간 체외성숙을 유도하였다.   • KIER has been running a demonstration project for 10kWe solar thermal power generation. the project is to build and operate the first solar thermal power generation system in Korea. For concentrating solar thermal energy $40m^2$ dish type concentrator was adapted and a stirling engine is going to be integrated to the system for power production. At the moment building the dish concentrator including mirror and sun tracking system was completed and it's performance are being closely evaluated. This paper will introduce some detailed designs and construction procedures which we have experienced so far.

  • A parabolic dish concentrator used in a high temperature application of solar energy tracks the sun's movement by two axis sun tracking system. In such a system, sun tracking performance affects the system efficiency directly. Generally the higher the tracking accuracy is, the better the system performance is. A large number of parabolic dish type concentrators has been developed and implemented in the world. However none of them clearly provided a qualitative method of how the accuracy of the sun tracking system can be evaluated. The work presented here is the evaluation of sun tracking performance of parabolic dish concentrator, which follows the sun's movement by the sensor, using a computer vision system. We install a camera on the parabolic dish concentrator. While the concentrator follows the sun, sun's images are captured continuously. Then the performance of sun tracking system was evaluated by analyzing the variation of the position of the sun in the captured images.

  • A procedure for antenna parameter selections is proposed that considers the relationships between synthetic aperture radar performance and the antenna parameters of a parabola-type reflector antenna with a central flat dish. The effects of a central dish designed for weight reduction on the antenna beam pattern are also quantitatively analyzed using commercially available software based on the physical optics algorithm. The results of the theoretical analysis and simulation predict that a larger size of the central dish results in an increase in the sidelobe level, which is the reason for the increase in two important ambiguities, such as range ambiguity ratio (RAR) and azimuth ambiguity ratio (AAR). The dependence of RAR and AAR on Pulse repetition frequency is also analyzed and discussed.

  • A numerical and experimental studies are carried out to investigate the transient heat transfer characteristics of 5kWth dish-type solar air receiver. Measured solar radiation and temperatures at several different locations are used as boundary conditions for numerical simulation. Many parameters' effects (reflectivity of the reflector, the thermal conductivity of the receiver body, transmissivity of the quartz window, etc.) on the thermal performance are investigated. Discrete Transfer Method is used to calculate the radiation heat exchange in the receiver. A transient heat transfer model is developed and the rate of radiation, convection and conduction heat transfer are calculated. Comparing the experimental and numerical results, good agreement is obtained. Using the numerical model, the transient heat transfer characteristics of volumetric air receiver for dish-type solar thermal systems are known and the transient thermal performance of the receiver can be estimated.

Effects of Reflectors and Receivers on the Thermal Performance of Dish-Type Solar Power Systems

  • The thermal performance comparisons of the dish solar collector system are numerically investigated with mirror arrays and receiver shapes. In order to compare the performances of the dish solar collector systems, six different mirror arrays and four different receiver shapes are considered and the radiative heat flux distribution on the inside of the receiver is analyzed. A parabolic-shaped perfect mirror of which diameter is 1.5 m is considered as a reference of the mirror arrays. Five different mirror arrays of twelve identical parabolic -shaped mirror facets of which diameter are 0.4 m are proposed in this study. Their reflecting areas, which are 1.5 $m^2$, are the same. Four different receiver shapes are a dome, a conical, a cylindrical and a unicorn type. The solar irradiation reflected by mirrors is traced using the Monte-Carlo method. In addition, the radiative properties of the mirror surface can vary the thermal performance of the dish solar collector system so that the effects of the surface reflectivity and the surface absorptivity are considered. Based on the calculation, the design information of dish solar collector system for producing the electric power can be obtained. The results show that the dome type has the best performance in receiver shapes and the 2AND4INLINE has the best performance in mirror arrays except the perfect mirror.

  • 현재 상용화되어 있는 petri dish는 미생물 배지의 보관기간이 $4^{\circ}C$의 온도에서 15~50일 정도 되기 때문에 장기저장이 어렵다. 그래서 본 연구는 자체 고안된 LOP(Lab on a plate)와 petri dish에 고체배지를 제조하여 배지의 수분함량을 비교하기 위한 연구를 수행하였다. 본 연구에 사용한 배지는 Bacillus cereus 배양을 위한 MYP(Mannitol Egg Yolk Polymyxin) agar로 이용하여 제조하였으며 각각 진공포장 및 비포장하여 $4^{\circ}C$$25^{\circ}C$의 온도조건에서 6주 동안 매주 수분함량을 측정한 결과, LOP와 petri dish 모두 비포장 조건보다 진공포장조건의 수분보호능이 우수 하였으며 진공포장조건에서는 $25^{\circ}C$$4^{\circ}C$보다 상대적 수분 보호능이 좋음을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 비포장조건에서도 LOP가 $4^{\circ}C$$25^{\circ}C$ 모두 petri dish보다 수분보호능이 탁월하여 유통기간이 훨씬 더 연장될 수 있는 가능성을 보여 주어 앞으로 LOP를 이용한 장기 보관과 즉시 사용이 가능한 pre-plated media와 관련된 다양한 제품의 용기로 사용 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

The Systematic Study on Reduction of Food Waste Products(II) -Estimation of One Serving Size of Frequently Consumed Korean Dishes - (음식물 쓰레기를 줄이기 위한 체계화 연구(II) -일부 한국음식의 1인 1회 적정 섭취량 평가-)

  • The purpose of this study was to estimate the effect of serving sizes on dish wastes, nutrient intake, and diet satisfaction for reduction of dish waste products. The dish waste, energy and protein intake, and satisfaction scores before and after dining were compared in 44 subjects fed various serving sizes(100%, 90%, 80% of standard size) of 10 frequently consumed Korean dishes. The result are as follows: 1. Average age, height, and weight of 44 subjects were 30.5, 174.0cm, and 68.1kg in men and 26.2, 164.2cm, and 53.5kg in women, respectively. 2. There was a significant difference in the dish waste rate of 10 Korean dishes to serving sizes. The range of dish waste rates of 10 Korean dishes was 13.14-33.04%. 3. The average energy intake from 10 Korean dishes in which 100% of the standard serving size was served was lower than Korean RDA. Protein intakes from Sulungtang, Yukgaejang, Deunjang-ggigae, and Bibimpab with 100% servins size, Soondubi-ggigae 90% servins size, and Galbitang, Bulgogi-bakpan, Sangsungui-bakpan, Bakpan 80% of standard serving size were higher than Korean RDA. 4. The satisfaction score before dining on Sulungtang, Bulgogi-bakpan, Sangsungui-bakpan decreased with decreasing serving size. However, there was no significant difference in satisfaction score after dining to serving size. These findings indicate that dish waste rate and diet satisfaction of 10 these Korean dishes are fixed and energy intake is insufficient. Therefore, for reduction of food waste and reasonable serving size of dishes evaluated in this study, there should be more studies about Korean menu development with decreasing serving size and increasing energy density.

Analysis of Heat Loss with Mirror Array and Receiver Shapes on the Dish Solar Collector (반사경 배치 및 흡수기 형상에 따른 접시형 태양열 집열기의 열손실 해석)

  • The radiative heat loss from a receiver of a dish solar collector is numerically investigated. The dish solar collector considered in this paper consists of a receiver and multi-faceted mirrors. In order to investigate the performance comparison of dish solar collectors, six different mirror arrays and four different receivers are considered. A parabolic- shaped perfect mirror of which diameter is 1.40 m is considered as the reference for the mirror arrays. The other mirror arrays which consist of twelve identical parabolic-shaped mirror facets of which diameter are 0.405 m are suggested for comparison. Their reflecting areas, which are 1.545 $m^{2}$, are the same. Four different receiver shapes are a conical, a dome, a cylindrical, and a unicorn type. The radiative properties of the mirror surfaces and the receiver surfaces may vary the thermal performance of the dish solar collector so that various surface properties are considered. In order to calculate the radiative heat loss in the receiver, two kinds of methods are used. The Net Radiation Method that is based on the radiation heat balance on the surface is used to calculate the radiation heat transfer rate from the inside surface of the receiver to the environment. The Monte-Carlo Method that is the statistical approach is adopted to predict the radiation heat transfer rate from the reflector to the receiver. The collector efficiency is defined as the results of the optical efficiency and the receiver efficiency. Based on the calculation, the unicorn type has the best performance in receiver shapes and the STAR has the best performance in mirror arrays except the perfect mirror.
