Viscoelastic Fluid Flow in a Sudden Expansion Circular Channel as a Model for the Blood Flow Experiments

  • In the current flow visualization studies, the role of non-Newtonian characteristics (such as shearra to dependent viscosity and viscoelasticity ) on flow behavior across the sudden ex- pansion step in a circular pipe as a model for blood flow experiments is investigated over a wide range of Reynolds numbers. The expansion ratios tested are 2.000 and 2.667 and the range of the Reynolds number covered in the current flow visualization tests are 10~35, 000 based on the inlet. diameter. The reattachment longuEs for the viscoelastic fluids in the lami- nar flow regime are found to be much shorter than those for the Newtonian fluid. In addition it decreases significantly with increasing concentration of viscoelastic fluids at the same Reynolds number. However, in the turbulent flow regime, the reattachment length for the viscoelastic fluids Is two or three times longer than those for water, and gradually increases with increasing concentration of viscoelastic solutions, resulting In 25 and 28 step-height dis- tances for 500 and 1, 000 lpm ployacrylamide solutions, respectively. This may be due to the fact that the elasticity in pobacrylamide solutions suppresses the eddy motion and controls separation and reattachment behavior in the sudden expansion pips flow.

Development of Distributed Interactive Stochastic Combat Simulation (DISCSIM) Model

  • A number of combat simulation models are scattered and the analytic solution approaches have experienced very difficult computational efforts. Today´s computer communication technology let people to do many unrealistic things possible and the use of those technologies is becoming increasingly prevalent throughout the military operation. Both DIS and ADS are welled defined computer aided military simulations. This study discusses a simulation of stochastic combat network modeling through Internet space. We have developed two separate simulation models, one for clients and another for server, and validated for conducting studies with these models. The object-oriented design was necessary to define the system entities and their relationship, to partition functionality into system entities, and to transform functional metrics into realizations derived from system component behaviors. Heterogeneous forces for each side are assumed at any battle node. The time trajectories for mean number of survivors and combat history at each node, some important combat measures, and relative difference computations between models were made. We observe and may conclude that the differences exit and some of these are significant based on a limited number of experiments.

연유출량의 추계학적 모의발생에 관한 연구 (A study on the stochastic generation of annual runoff)

  • This study was conducted to get best fitting frequency distribution for the annual run- off and to simulate long series of annual flows by single-season first order Markov Model with comparison of statistical parameters which were derived from observed and synthetic flows at four watersheds in Seom Jin and Yeong San river systems. The results summarized through this study are as follows. 1. Hydrologic persistence of observed flows was acknowledged by the correlogram analysis. 2. A normal distribution of the annual runoff for the applied watersheds was confirmed as the best one among others by Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. 3. Statistical parameters were calculated from synthetic flows simulated by normal dis- tribution. In was confirmed that mean and standard deviation of simulated flows are much closer to those of observed data than except coefficient of skewness. 4. Hydrologic persistence between observed flows and synthetic flows simulated was also confirmed by the correlogram analysis. 5. It is to be desired that generation technique of synthetic flow in this study would be compared with other simulation techniques for the objective time series.

UHDTV를 위한 MIMO 전송 시스템 성능 분석 및 설계 (Performance Analysis and Design of MIMO Systems for Terrestrial Transmission of UHDTV)

  • 본 논문에서는 MIMO(multi-input multi-output) 시스템을 적용하여 지상파 UHDTV 시스템을 구현하기 위한 전송 시스템을 제시하였다. 차세대 UHDTV 시스템이 필요로 하는 높은 전송량을 달성하기 위하여 기존의 MIMO(multi input multi output) 전송 방식인 STBC(space time block code), 하이브리드 STBC, V-BLAST 및 선형분산코드(linear dispersion matrix)를 이용한 송신 기법을 고려하였다. 이 중에서 대표적인 세 가지 MIMO 전송 기법의 심볼 오류 성능 및 복잡도를 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통하여 평가하였다. 이를 통하여 UHDTV 시스템의 전송량을 달성하기 위한 최적의 송 수신 안테나 개수와 MIMO 파라미터 제시 및 세 개의 MIMO 전송 기법의 장단점을 비교 분석하여 가장 적합한 시스템을 제안하였다.

UV/O2 가스상 세정을 이용한 실리콘 웨이퍼상의 PEG 반응기구의 관찰 (Investigation of PEG(polyethyleneglycol) Removal Mechanism during UV/O2 Gas Phase Cleaning for Silicon Technology)

  • An experiment to find out the removal mechanism of PEG(polyethyleneglycol) by using UV-enhanced $O_2$ GPC (gas phase cleaning) at low substrate temperature below $200^{\circ}C$ was executed under various process conditions, such as substrate temperature, UV exposure, and $O_2$ gas. The possibility of using $UV/O_2$ GPC as a low-temperature in-situ cleaning tool for organic removal was confirmed by the removal of a PEG film with a thickness of about 200 nm within 150 sec at a substrate temperature of $200^{\circ}C$. Synergistic effects by combining photo-dissociation and photo oxidation can only remove the entire PEG film without residues within experimental splits. In $UV/O_2$ GPC with substrate temperatures higher than the glass transition temperature, the substantial increase in the PEG removal rate can be explained by surface-wave formation. The photo-dissociation of PEG film by UV exposure results in the formation of end aldehyde by dissociation of back-bone chain and direct decomposition of light molecules. The role of oxygen is forming peroxide radicals and/or terminating the dis-proportionation reaction by forming peroxide.

횡방향 유속 변화에 따른 고압 가솔린 팬형 인젝터의 분무특성 (Spray Characteristics of High Pressure Fan Spray Injector with Various Crossflow Speed)

  • The direct injection into the cylinders has been regarded as a way of the reduction in fuel consumption and pollutant emissions. The spray produced from the injector of DIS(Direct Injection Spark Ignition) engine is of paramount importance in DISI engines. Fan-spray injector as well as swirl-spray injector was developed and utilized to the DISI engines. The interaction between air flow and fuel spray was investigated in a steady flow system embodied in a wind tunnel to simulate the variety of flow inside the cylinder of the DISI engineer. The direct Mie scattered images presented the macroscopic view of the liquid spray fields interacted with crossflow. Particle sizes of fuel droplets were measured with phase Doppler anemometer(PDA) system. A faster cross-flow field made SMD larger and $D_{10}$ smaller. The experiments show the interaction of air flow field and the fuel spray field of fan-spray. The results can be utilized to construct the data-base for the spray and fuel-air mixing mechanism as a function of the flow characteristics.

자동차 중고부품 회수 및 관리를 위한 물류정보시스템 구축 (Construction of Distribution Information System for Recovery and Management of used Parts of an Automobile)

  • 지금까지 재 제조에 필요한 자동차 중고부품은 주로 정비업체에서 회수하여 사용하였으나, 회수체계가 정비되어 있지 않아 자동차 중고부품 수집에 많은 시간과 경비가 소요되었으며, 폐차업체에서 생산되는 많은 자동차 중고부품은 재 제조에 활용되지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 본 시스템은 폐차장, 정비업체 등에서 자동차 중고부품 정보를 입력하고, 재 제조업체에서는 이들 정보를 이용하여 재 제조에 필요한 자동차 중고부품을 회수할 수 있게 함으로써 자동차 중고부품 회수체계를 확립하고 자동차 중고부품의 안정적 수급 방안을 마련할 수 있도록 설계하였다. 본 시스템은 자동차 부품 재 제조에 필요한 자동차 중고부품을 수집 관리하기 위한 물류정보시스템으로 DISRMPA(Distribution Information System for Recovery and Management of used Parts of an Automobile)라고 부른다.

경구경계부식도암에서 흉강경을 이용한 근치적 식도암적출술 (Thoracoscopic Radical Esophagectomy in Cervico-Thoracic Esophageal Cancer)

  • 경구경계부 식도에 발생된 악성종양의 경우에는 진단시에 이미 식도에 밀접해 있는 기관과 주요 신경 그리고 혈관등에 침범되어 있는 경우가 많으며, 또한 외과적 절제에도 기술적인 어려움이 있어 식도암 의 발생부위중 가장 예후가 불량한 부위로 알려져 있다. 저자들은 진행형 경흥경계부 식도암 환자 1례에서 합병치료로 종양의 묶췄를 향상시킨후, 흥강경 을 이용한비개흥적 종격동 림프절적출과 경부의 림프절을 확대적출함으로써 근치도III의 고치요도술을 시행하였다. 술후 끌병증의 발병없이 식도조영술에서 양호한 조명제의 통과소견을 보였으며, 병 리 조직학적 소견상 조기식도암(TINOMO, SM2)으로 판정되어 술후 합병치료는 시행하지 않고 경과를 관찰중에 있다.

HLA 모의구조전환에 따른 한국군 DM&S 발전방안 (Current Issues for ROK Defense Modeling & Simulation Scheme under the Transition of New HLA Simulation Architecture)

  • US DoD designated the High LEvel Architecture (HLA) as the standard technical architecture for all military simulation since 1996. HLA will supercede the current Distributed Interactive Simulation(DIS) and Aggregated LEvel Simulation Protocol(ALSP) methods by no funds for developing/modifying non-HLA compliant simulations. The new architecture specifies Rules which define relationships among federation components, an Objects Model Template which species the form which simulation elements are described, and an Interface Specification which describes the way simulations interact during operations. HLA is named as standard architecture in NATO, Australia and many other militaries. Also, it will be IEEE standard in the near future. It goes without saying that ROK military whose simulation models are almost from US must be prepared in areas such as ROK-US combined exercise, training, weapon system acquisition, interface models with C4I system, OPLAN analysis, operations, and os on. In this paper, we propose several effective alternatives and issues for ROK Defense Modeling and Simulation under the transition of new HLA architecture. Those include secure the kernel of new simulation technology and develop our own conceptual model, RTI software, prototype federation for each service and aggregated one. In order to challenge the new simulation architecture effectively, we should innovate our current defense modeling and simulation infrastructure such s manpower, organization, budget, research environment, relationships among academia and industry, and many others.

벨로즈의 종방향 강성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Axial stiffness of Bellows)

  • Usually bellows are designed for the purpose of absorbing axial movement. To find out axial stiffness of bellows the axisymmetric shell theory using the finite element method is adopted in this paper. Bellows can be idealised by series of conical frustum-shaped elements because it is axisymmetric shell structure. The force required to deflect bellows axilly is a function of the dimensions of the bellows and the materials from which they are made. The displancements of nodal points due to small increment of force are calculated by the finite element method and the calculated nodal displacements are added to r-z cylinderical coordinates of nodal points. The new stiffness matrix of the system using the new coordinates of nodal points is adopted to calculate the another increments of nodal dis-placements that is the step by method is used in this paper. spring constant is analyzed according to the changing geometric factors of u-shaped bellows. The FEM results were agreed with experiment. Using developed FORTRAN PROGRAM spring constant can be predicted by input of a few factors.
