  • A study was conducted to provide direct comparisons of the effect of variations in herbage use, grazing and social behaviour upon the flat, slope and forest grassland with a total 30 Korean Native Cattle and 5 Korean Native Goats under 4-year old grassland established by intensive sowing method in Daecheon. The results obtained are summarized as follows; 1. Relative intake index, dry matter intake per animal and dry matter digestibility by Korean Native Goats in flat, slope and forest grassland were 35.2%-462g-63.7%, 35.0%-459g-63.0% and 29.8%-391g-62.1%, respectively. 2. Grazing time by Korean Native Cattle was not different among the grassland types, but ruminating time was increased in slope grassland, whereas in forest grassland was decreased. Resting time was increased in forest grassland, whereas in slope grassland was decreased. Walking time was increased in flat grassland, but loafing time was increased in forest grassland. The number of rumination, chews per bolus and defecation number were decreased in forest grassland. The number of drinks, total drinking water and walking distance were increased in slope grassland. 3. Animal distance, occupied area per animal and sub group formation by Korean Native Cattle in flat, slope and forest grassland were $3.4m-11.9m^2-3.6head$, $3.56m-11.0m^2-3.7head$ and $3.70m-14.6m^2-3.4head$, respectively. The order of grazing movement was similar to the pear-shaped grazing formation, but the relations of dominance between first grazer and last grazer upon different grassland types was not clear.

  • The experience and play activities in forest spaces have played an effective role in children's growth and development, therefore, many studies and projects related to forest activity space have progressed actively. However, the focus of previous research has been merely on the effectiveness of forest activity but little on providing the basis for the spatial design of these types of forest activity spaces. Thus, this study aims to identify the relationship between children's developmental play activity and the physical characteristics of forest activity spaces for evidence-based design. First of all, indicators for Cognitive-Social play(CSP) was selected and forest spaces were categorize into play facility spaces and forest spaces. More detailed environmental characteristics of each space were 'play area' and 'paving materials' for play facilities and 'density of tree and shrub', 'slope', 'paving materials' and 'fixing and type of natural loose parts' for forest space. Through environmental inventory and behavior observation, the types of play behaviors and the occurrence frequency of children aged four to five were collected and analyzed. The results were as follows: 1) In play facility spaces, play behaviors occurred at a high frequency at the facility playground with play facilities and sand area. In terms of CSP, functional-solitary and functional-parallel plays occurred predominantly. 2) In forest spaces, various play behaviors occurred at high frequency in the environment with low density planting and various natural loose parts. For CSP, functional-group and symbolic-group plays occurred at a high frequency. 3) Symbolic-group play appeared to be highly affected by environmental characteristics like tree area of scatter density or less, 10~20 degree slope, and the presence of fixed large stumps. In conclusion, this study provides standards of physical environmental characteristics for forest activity space design through direct observation and analysis of children's play behaviors.

  • We prepared 10cm-diameter Si(100)/500 $\AA$-Si$_3$N$_4$/Si(100) wafer Pairs adopting 500 $\AA$ -thick Si$_3$N$_4$layer as insulating layer between single crystal Si wafers. Si3N, is superior to conventional SiO$_2$ in insulating. We premated a p-type(100) Si wafer and 500 $\AA$ -thick LPCVD Si$_3$N$_4$∥Si (100) wafer in a class 100 clean room. The cremated wafers are separated in two groups. One group is treated to have hydrophobic surface and the other to have hydrophilic. We employed a FLA(fast linear annealing) bonder to enhance the bond strength of cremated wafers at the scan velocity of 0.1mm/sec with varying the heat input at the range of 400~1125W. We measured bonded area using a infrared camera and bonding strength by the razor blade crack opening method. We used high resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM) to probe cross sectional view of bonded wafers. The bonded area of two groups was about 75%. The bonding strength of samples which have hydrophobic surface increased with heat input up to 1577mJ/$m^2$ However, bonding strength of samples which have hydrophilic surface was above 2000mJ/$m^2$regardless of heat input. The HRTEM results showed that the hydrophilic samples have about 25 $\AA$ -thick SiO layer between Si and Si$_3$N$_4$/Si and that maybe lead to increase of bonding strength.

  • Various European countries were active rather early on in the formation and research of Korean ceramics, which are considered a representative genre of Korean art. Of these, England is especially noteworthy due to its relatively large volume of extant archival material related to the procurement of Korean ceramics in modern Britain. The material is important in that it contributes to our understanding of the formation and economic worth of these collections. Especially meaningful are the previously unknown documents dating to the period when institutions such as the British Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum were most actively collecting Korean ceramics. These documents provide insight into the circumstances-process, prices, standards, perceptions, etc.-of procurement for the Korean ceramics now in British collections. The changes in the perception of Korean ceramics and the intention for forming such collections in modern Britain can be divided into three periods. The first, starting from the late 1870s and ending in the late 1880s, is categorized by the collectors' misguided ideal of Korean ceramics in the absence of a true understanding of the subject. During the late 1880s up until 1910, the Korean ceramics entering British collections were mostly ethnographic in nature and examples of implements used in Koreans' daily lives. Lastly, from 1910 to 1940, Korean ceramics were regarded as art objects to be collected, and Goryeo celadons formed the core of many of the British collections being assembled at the time. As for the matter of collecting standards and processes, the matter is examined through the study of three individuals who visited Korea and acquired Korean ceramics in the early 20th century. After 1910, the British started to make trips to the Far East via boat or the Trans-Siberian Express and purchase Korean ceramics during their travels. It has been confirmed that former bureaucrats were able to acquire 'good and old Goryeo ceramics' at reasonable prices from either tomb robbers or through direct visits to regions where such wares were being excavated. In addition, this study also focuses on the previously unfamiliar company Kavanaugh & Co, which made important sales and provided transport of various objects, including Korean ceramics, to its Western clients. The final part of this study examines the standards of appraisal for the Korean ceramics collected in modern Britain. The main criterion the balance between form and price of the piece. In other words, the best pieces were those that were of superior quality but acquired at the cheapest prices. British collectors particularly valued not only the Goryeo celadons favored by the Japanese but also Joseon ceramics for their innovative form, design, and technique. These standards of aesthetic and form were important factors that influenced the formation of diverse Korean ceramic collections in modern Britain.

  • The causes of late establishment of barnyardgrass and their density effect on rice yield loss were examined in 1996 and 1977. Herbicide application on 5 to 15DAT(Days after transplanting) increased from 6% to 52.5%, 1988 to 1992, and their ingredient amount for barnyardgrass control decreased to 41.7-87.5% in Korea. Most late establishment of barnyardgrass in machine transplanted rice field were not late germinated but revived ones. The number of late established barnyardgrass were 0.5, 2.0 and 13.3/$m^2$, on direct seeded at May 10, and machine transplanted May 23 and June 9, individually. Relation on rice yield and the number of barnyardgrass at machine transplanted field showed highly significant equation, as y=543.3 4.7x, r=0.9039 in 1996 and y=515.8 10.4x+0.066$x^2$, $R^2$=0.9532 in 1997. Theoritical yield loss by regress equation showed 2% per one plant of barnyardgrass per $m^2$ and 5, 10, 20, 50, and 80 plants of barnyardgrass decreased rice to 10, 19, 35, 69 and 79%, individually.

  • Butachlor applied pre-emergence at 3.6kg ai/ha inhibited the growth and developments of shoot of barnyardgrass under dry condition, whereas rice was unaffected. Growth of rice and barnyardgrass under water condition was severely inhibited by treatment of butachlor but that of transplanted rice was not affected. The inhibition rate was higher under water condition, in broadcast rice and direct seeded rice than under dry condition, drilled rice and transplanted rice, respectively. The major anatomical response of stem of barnyardgrass seedling to butachlor under dry condition were partial reduction in thickness and collapse of leaf sheath, while not in rice. Broadcast rice on soil under water condition appeared reduction and constriction of leaf primordia thickness, and barnyardgrass formed tubular-like leaves and showed inhibited elongation of apical meristem. On the other hand, transplanted rice did not show these responses.

  • Thiobencarb retarded the growth of new leaves in only barnyardgrass under dry condition while under water condition the shoot growth of broadcast rice, and both shoot and root growth of barnyardgrass was considerably inhibited. Root elongation of rice and barnyardgrass was severely inhibited only under water condition, while that of transplanted rice was slightly inhibited. Inhibition of shoot and root growth in broadcast, drilled rice and barnyardgrass under water condition was much higher than that under dry condition, whereas the inhibition was less in transplanted rice than direct seeded rice. Microscopically, thiobencarb severely inhibited shoot growth and development of barnyardgrass by inducing tubular-like leaves. The cells of the shoot apices of treated barnyardgrass seedling under dry condition was vacuolated and irregularly arranged. Under water condition, leaf primordia of broadcast rice was constricted, barnyardgrass showed tubular-like leaves, inhibited apices elongation and vacuolated cells(visually lack cytoplasm).

  • To understand the relationship between coat color inheritance patterns and genotypes of Extension (E) and Agouti (A) loci in cattle, the genotypes for melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1R) and agouti signaling protein (ASIP) were analyzed in Hanwoo, Jeju black cattle (JBC), and their crossbred progeny. Three MC1R alleles ($E^D$, $E^+$, and e) were found in the black-colored JBC population. JBC had no recessive homozygotes (e/e), but this genotype was predominant in the Hanwoo breed. However, MC1R $E^+$/e Hanwoo did not produce a black coat color as they appeared either as brown or solid red. For ASIP, three genotypes (A/A, A/$A^{Br}$, and $A^{Br}/A^{Br}$) were determined by insertion/deletion of an L1-BT element in Hanwoo. The ASIP $A^{Br}$ allele was rarely observed, and no ASIP $A^{Br}/A^{Br}$ homozygotes were detected in the JBC population. Cattle carrying ASIP $A^{Br}$ did not show any agouti-like brindle pigmentation patterns in either breed or their progeny. The coat colors of the crossbred progeny were discriminated by two colors, yellowish-brown versus dark-brown or black, and their coat colors were directly related to the genotypes of the Extension locus, yellowish-brown (e/e) and dark-brown or black ($E^+$/e), but not to the Agouti locus. ASIP genotypes probably did not affect coat color development in the Hanwoo or crossbred progeny. Our results suggest that the ASIP genotypes do not play key roles in coat color variation, but the MC1R genotypes do direct the phenotypes of Hanwoo, JBC, and their progeny.

  • DR has had an important fact not only in the department of radiology but also in productivity or work efficiency of a whole hospital. The environment of DR has more various parameter than CR, so it is able to supply high quality of medical services. The current environment of radiology department in each hospital has been changed from Film-Screen system to DR through Full-PACS. This hospital which uses Full-PACS became to study the proper condition of CR and DDR and how the image quality of them is expressed among general photographing systems in the DR environment. From this experiment, the image quality of DDR is better than CR under the same exposure condition. And in the DDR system, the score of image which uses AEC is a little higher than the score which doesn't use it. Especially it can be known that the function of AEC of DDR is useful to improve the image quality in the part of skull and chest. (The function of AEC : It is the tool that detects the ionized current of x-ray which goes through objects with using the ion chamber which is in the detector. Also it controls the examination of X-ray when the proper density is reached.) Because the proper degree of density can be represented by this system, the photographing can be taken much easily without consideration of the exposure condition with the thickness of various objects. From the result of this experiment, it can be known that the selection of proper exposure condition plays an important rule to gain good Image Quality. More researches will be necessary about DDR system which has potential ability in the future.
