New limits of comfort boundary, psychological damage boundary and exposure limit for building residents by continuous and vibration are suggested. These limits are derived from the ISO 2631 and DIN 4150 regulations. A reasonable method to evaluate damages by vibrations is also suggested using the "total over-exposure of vibration" concept.; concept.
To investigate the water quality characteristics and eutrophication of the Keum River, survey were conducted on samples collected from 6 stations in Aug. and Oct. in 1995 and Jan. and May in 1996. The results were summarized as follows ; Concentration of pollutants were in the range of 1.74~6.35(mean 3.81)mg/$\ell$for BOD and 1.98~8.21(5.14)mg/$\ell$for COD and 1.46~51.94(18.52)g/$\ell$for TSS. Water quality were evaluate to be 2~3 grade of station 1 and other stations were 3~4 grade of water quality criteria. The concentration of nutrients were in the range of 55.2~735.3(309.3)$\mu\textrm{g}$-at/$\ell$for Dissolved inorganic nitrogen(DIN) and 0.06~6.03(2.80)$\mu\textrm{g}$-at/$\ell$ for dissolved inorganic phosphate(DIP). Nutrient concentrations in Keum River were usually high and the DIN/DIP ratio ranged from 72 to 2648. The concentration of chlorophyll-a was in the range of 1.1~143.7(44.3)mg/㎥. Chlorophyll-a concentration were high 10mg/㎥ except station 1, which is the value of eutrophication criteria by EPA. Correlations between nutrients and chlorophlly-a were not significant. According to eutrophication evaluation, Keum river was equivalent to the eutrophic state.
In this study, result of a field investigation of railway traffic-induced vibrations is provided to examine acceptability levels of ground vibration and to evaluate the serviceability of a liquid-storage tank. Free field attenuation of the amplitudes as a function of distance is derived by six accelerometers and compared with a well-known half-space Bornitz's analytical solution which considers the loss of the amplitude of waves due to geometrical damping and material damping of Rayleigh. Bornitz's solution tends to overlap vertical free field vibration compared with in-situ measured records. The vibrations of the liquid-storage tank were compared with the USA, Federal Transportation Railroad Administration (FTA) criteria for acceptable ground-borne vibrations and with the criteria in DIN 4150-3 German standard. Comparing the thresholds stated in DIN 4150-3, absolute peak particle velocities are within the safe limits, however according to FTA velocity level at the top of the water tank exceeds the allowable limits. Furthermore, it is intended to indicate experimentally the effect of the kinematic interaction caused by the foundation of the structure on the free-field vibrations.
A filamentous green alga Cladophora vadorum (Areschoug) Kützing, bloomed at Shangrok Beach, Buan, Republic of Korea, in September 2015. This alga is currently distributed worldwide. Concentrations of total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP), dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN), and dissolved inorganic phosphorus (DIP) were analyzed in the bloom area and compared to those of other areas in the vicinity. DIN and DIP concentrations were similar to those of other areas. However, TN and TP were as much as six and ten times higher than in other areas, respectively. As in other Cladophora species, the bloom of C. vadorum at Shangrok Beach in 2015 appears to have depended on the TP concentration in the seawater. This suggests that blooms in the area can be controlled by reducing TP.

We have extracted a surface deformation map of a part of Canisteo Peninsula on Amundsen Sea in West Antarctica by applying 4-pass DInSAR technique to two ERS-1/2 tandem pairs obtained on October 21-22, 1995 (diff-pair) and March 9-10, 1996 (topo-pair), and analyzed changes of glaciers, sea ice, ice shelves, and their kinematic interactions. We observed fast motion of glaciers pushing the adjoining sea ice. Some interferometric phases indicate the up-rise of sea ice of which type is thought to be land-fast ice to exert repulsive force against the pushing glacier. There were other glaciers and sea ice that moved to the same direction, suggesting that the sea ice in these regions was land-fast ice weakly harnessed to sea bottom or pack ice not harnessed at all. Several small circular fringes in ice shelves suggested that islands or seamounts on the bottom of ice shelves deterred the movement of ice shelves, resulting in the rise of ice surface.

The Tonle Sap, Cambodia, is a huge lake and periodically flooded due to monsoon climate. The incoming water causes intensive flooding that expands the lake over vast floodplain and wetland consisting mainly of forests and shrubs. Monitoring the water-level change over the floodplain is essential for flood prediction and water resource management. A main objective of this study is flood monitoring over Tonle Sap area using ALOS PALSAR. To study double-bounce effects in the lake, backscattering effect using ALOS PALSAR dual-polarization (HH, HV) data was examined. InSAR technique was applied for detection of water-level change. HH-polarization interferometric pairs between wet and dry seasons were best to measure water level change around northwestern parts of Tonle Sap. The seasonal pattern of water-level variations in Tonle Sap studied by InSAR method is similar to the past and altimeter data. However, water level variation measured by SAR was much smaller than that by altimeter because the DInSAR measurement only represents water level change at a given region of floodplain while altimeter provides water level variation at the central parts of the lake.
In this paper, in order to set up the management system of water quality environment in Gwangyang Bay, the cluster analysis of water quality environment, the estimation of inflowing pollutant loads and residence time of pollutants in this bay was carried out. The Gwangyang Bay was divided into eight sea areas by cluster analysis and spatio-temporal change of water quality. The river discharges in the Bay were calculated about $11,681{\times}103m^3/day$ from the numerical simulation by Tank model. In addition, inflowing pollutant loads of COD, SS, TN, TP, DIN and DIP in Gwangyang Bay were estimated at 398 ton-COD/day, 2,846 ton-SS/day, 195 ton-TN/day, 5 ton-TP/day, 126 ton-DIN/day and 3 ton-DIP/day, respectively. Moreover, residence times of COD, TN and TP in the Bay was estimated at 6 days-COD, 20 days-TN and 195 days-TP, respectively in the dry season, and 3 days-COD, 6 days-TN and 21 days- TP, respectively, in the flood season. The central part of Gwangyang Bay (Region IV) has the longest residence time of overall pollutants.
The aim of this study was to determine the first outbreaks of nontoxic Gonyaulax polygramma Stein in Yeosu waters in place of harmful Cochlodinium polykrikoides Margalef, which has occurred annually in the same coastal region since 1995. The observation of cellular arrangement and structure by electron microscopy showed that G. polygramma isolated from Yeosu waters had a few spines connecting with mem-branes and prominent longitudinal ridges on the cell surface, with a cingular dis-placement 1.5 times their cell width. Furthermore, the location of the nucleus wasposterior of large oval formation according to electron microscopy. On 6 August, 2004,the first bloom of G. pozygramma occurred, the date of own its disappearance was with a maximum cell density of 8,000 cells ml$^{-1}$ on 21 August, 2004. During the period of this study, the horizontal distribution of sea water temperature and salinity showed a strong coastal front, whereas the front of DIN (Dissolved Inoganic Nitrogen) was significantly different between the occurrence and disappearance of G. polygramma blooms. These results suggested that the process of the breakdown of stratification by wind and a low level of inorganic nitrogen play important roles in the rapid growth of G. polygrmma, which is associated with a greater robustness in growth against DIN than that of C.polykrikoides in nature.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of water quality in Jeju harbor and to estimate pollutant loadings discharged into Jeju Harbor. To know characteristics of water quality in Jeju harbor, and pollutant loadings of Sanzi river, we have investigated from August, 2000 to May, 2001. The results showed that the concentrations of COD, DIN and DIP were in the range of 1.00∼4.85 mg/L (mean 2.15 mg/L), 2.14∼74.0 $\mu\textrm{g}$-at/L(mean 12.20 $\mu\textrm{g}$-at/L) and 0.52∼4.00 $\mu\textrm{g}$-at/L(mean 1.18 $\mu\textrm{g}$-at/L), respectively. These values were under III class of seawater quality criteria. The ratio of nitrogen to phosphorus was lower than 16 except for Station 1 in Jeju harbor. Therefore, nitrogen was playing an important role in phytoplankton growth as limiting factor in Jeju harbor. The mean values of eutrophication index were exceeding 1, which was the eutrophication criteria. The results of estimating pollutant loadings at Sanzi river are 0.30 ton/day for COD, 300 kg/day for DIN and 18.0 kg/day for DIP, respectively.
The characteristics of pollutant loads from the various sources and seawater quality in Kwangyang Bay were evaluated. Total flow rate was estimated to be $10,868,066.8 m^3/day$ with a flow rate of R2l (the Seomjin River) as the highest one. Total COD, TN and TP loads of the input rivers and the ditches were about 27,591.8, 25,029.6 and 586.4 kg/day, respectively. Wastewater discharging loads was the greatest contributors to pollutant loads in the inner part of Kwangyang Bay. COD values in the inner part of the bay was over 3.0 mg/L, which exceeded the seawater quality criteria III of Korea. The average values of DIN and DIP were 8.62 ${\mu}gN/L\;and\;1.26\;{\mu}gP/L$, respectively. The limiting factor for algal growth was DIN. In he total discharging loads of the watershed from unit loading estimations, BOD, TN and TP were 9,132.3, 2,727.2 and 304.2 kg/day, respectively. In addition, municipal sewage by the population as pollution sources and the city of Kwangyang as administrative district had the highest loads. For a appropriate water quality recovery of Kwangyang Bay, it is suggested that it is essential to estimate reduction rate of total pollutant loads by water quality modeling.
