The bibliometric analysis was conducted by searching 87 abstract & index databases provided by the DIALOG to identify not only the characteristics of Korean journals covered by international databases, but also the characteristics of the databases covering such Korean journals. 248 Korean journals were identified, for which at least one paper published between 1990 and 1997 was retrievable from the DIALOG databases. These Korean journals were found in 52 databases. 141 journals(56.9%) were indexed in only one database. Most Korean journals covered in several DIALOG databases were science and engineering journals published in English. The difference in the degrees Korean journals are covered in a database is found to be statistically significant by the discipline a database covers, and by the database's journal selection policy.

This study compared finding economic and energy information on the WWW to finding the same information on DIALOG, a traditional search service. Professional searchers answered 20 questions for end users using either of DIALOG and one Internet database (general search engine or Web database). The relevance of the results in both sets of answers was ranked by searchers and end-users, respectively. The study found that searching for information on the Web took at least twice as long as it did when using DIALOG. Relevance rating was a little higher for materials found on DIALOG. However, the relevance rating difference between two systems was not so higher than we expected. From the research results, we conclude that Internet database including Web database and general search engines is providing valuable information of economic and energy subject areas.

한국학술지의 국제 색인ㆍ초록 데이터베이스 등재 여부를 추적하는 것은 한국학술지의 국제적인 위상을 파악하는데 중요하며, 학술지의 구체적인 평가자료로서도 중요한 역할을 할 것이다. 본 연구에서는 세계최대의 데이터뱅크중 하나인 DIALOG 데이터베이스에 등재되는 한국학술지와 그 학술지들이 등재되는 데이터베이스에 대해 계량학적 측정을 통하여 그 특성을 분석·규명하였다.

In order to overcome the limitations of the instructor-centered lecture-style teaching method, recently, flipped learning, a learner-centered teaching method, has been widely introduced. However, despite the many advantages of flipped learning, there is a problem that students cannot solve questions that arise during prior learning in real time. Therefore, in order to solve this problem, we developed DBbot, an assistant chatbot for database design course managed in the flipped learning method. The DBBot is composed of a chatbot app for learners and a chatbot management app for instructors. Also, it's implemented so that questions that instructors can anticipate in advance, such as questions related to class operation and every semester repeated questions related to learning content, can be answered using Google's DialogFlow. It's implemented so that questions that the instructor cannot predict in advance, such as questions related to team projects, can be answered using the question/answer DB and the BM25 algorithm, which is a similarity comparison algorithm.

This study aims at developing dialog system to improve the quality of life of the elderly with a dementia. The proposed system mainly consists of three modules including speech recognition, automatic search of the time-sorted dialog database, and agreeable responses with the recorded voices of caregivers. For the first step, the dialog that dementia patients often utter at a nursing home is first investigated. Next, the system is organized to recognize the utterances in order to meet their requests or demands. The system is then responded with recorded voices of professional caregivers. For evaluation of the system, the comparison study was carried out when the system was introduced or not, respectively. The occupational therapists then evaluated a male subjects reaction to the system by photographing his behaviors. The evaluation results showed that the dialog system was more responsive in catering to the needs of dementia patient than professional caregivers. Moreover, the proposed system led the patient to talk more than caregivers did in mutual communication.

The purpose of the present study is to verify the two hypotheses: (1) Online services are fundamentally automated versions of the reference services. Accordingly there will be a major impact on reference services when Online service is introduced into the traditional library environment. The chief impact will be that the use of data bases retrieval service supplements and improves the traditional reference service when Online service is coordinated with the traditional reference service. and is fully incorporated into the existing user service areas. (2) The availability of data bases retrieval service will make it possible for the first time for the reference services to offer substantial search services of any kind resources limited to the printed sources. In light of such circumstances, libraries would provide better service to their users and greatly increase the productivity of reference librarians. There will be also the recognition that a result of an improved professional image for reference librarians and the library heightens user interest. This change may be translated into increased usage of library services generally. To achieve the purpose, 4 Research Libraries adopted Online retrieval from DIALOG's data bases-searching and reference services available in-house were chosen.

CO-ROM에 의한 데이터베이스의 제작이 큰 관심의 표적으로 되어있다. 그러나 대부분은 아직도 베타테스트의 단계이다. 먼저 CD-ROM의 개요와 현황을 설명하고 다음은 CD-ROM의 대표적 제품인 Dissertation Abstracts Ondisc에 대해 설명한 다음 Ondisc 검색과 Online 검색의 기능을 비교하였다. Ondisc, Online 양검색법의 장점과 단점을 서로 보완하기 위해 개발된 DIALOG Ondisc ERIC을 설명하고 Ondisc, Online의 상호검색에 대해 간단히 설명하였으며 더욱이 CD-ROM이 가지고 있는 문제점에 대해서도 일반에게 널리 알리고, 이것이 해결되면 Ondisc를 중심으로 분산형 Online시대가 될 것으로 예상하였다.

This study is to examine into the research pattern of the each country then, Korea and Japan's library and information science researchers through the ISA database, to analyze the thesis in various aspects which is included in ISA database. It analyzed such as leading authors production. subjects, journals etc. In addition, the study is to analyze the form of citation of Korea and Japan's library and information science researchers by studying the citation written in the thesis of the internationalization of library and information science and indicate the direction of our study in the future.
