MAP 기반 DME용 엔진 제어로직 개발 (Development of Map-Based Engine Control Logic for DME Fuel)

  • 본 연구는 DME 연료를 사용할 수 있도록 변경된 엔진의 제어 알고리즘, 로직구성 및 차량상태에서 검증결과를 나타낸 것으로써, 제어구조 및 자동코드 생성기법에 의한 제어로직 설계과정과 제어 맵을 소개하고 최종적으로 제어의 신뢰성 및 성능을 검증한 것이다. 제어구조는 운전자 요구를 엔진발생토크로 구현하기위한 분사제어부와 배기가스 및 동력특성을 만족시키기 위한 공기제어 시스템부로 크게 구성되며, 제어로직은 제어응답성을 향상시키기 위하여 각 제어 기능별로 앞먹임 및 뒤먹임 제어부로 설계되었고, 앞먹임 제어부의 제어 맵은 엔진모델을 이용하여 생성한 뒤, 이를 엔진 및 차량 시험과정에서 보정하였다. 개발된 제어기를 장착하여 차량 시험모드를 완주하였으며, EGR, VGT 및 분사시기 보정에 의하여 배출가스 저감효과를 확인하였다.

  • $NO_x$ 배출허용기준이 강화되는 배출가스 규제에 대응하기 위한 대안으로서 제시되는 천연가스-수소 혼합연료 (HCNG)는 수소의 빠른 화염속도와 넓은 가연범위를 이용하여 후처리 장치 없이 규제치를 만족할 수 있어 디젤엔진에 비해 저공해성이나 가격경쟁력 측면에서 유리한 장점이 있다. 열효율 측면에서도 우수성을 인정받는 HCNG 연료는 수소 혼합율은 물론 운전영역별 운전전략에 따라 연소특성이 달라진다. 본 연구에서는 대형 천연가스 엔진에 수소혼합율 30%의 HCNG 연료를 적용하여 운전영역별 안정적인 연소특성 및 배출가스 특성을 살펴봄으로써 상용화 가능성과 운전전략을 포함한 기술 개발방향에 대해 검토하고자 하였다.

  • Performance of DI diesel engine with high-pressure fuel injection equipment is directly related to its emission characteristics and fuel consumption. So, the electro-hydraulic injector for the common-rail injection system should be designed to meet the precise high fuel delivery control capability. Currently, most high pressure injector in use has a needle driven by the solenoid coil energy or the piezo actuator controlled by charge-discharge of output pulse current. In this study, macroscopic spray approaching method was applied under constant volume chamber to research the performance of three different injectors : solenoid, indirect-acting piezo and direct-acting piezo type for CR direct-injection. LED back illumination for Mie scattering was applied on the liquid spray visible of direct-acting piezo injector, including hydraulic-servo type solenoid and piezo-driven injectors. As main results, we found that a direct-acting piezo injector had better a spray tip penetration than hydraulic-servo injectors in spray visualization.

  • HCCI (Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition) combustion has a great advantage in reducing NOx (Nitrogen Oxides) and PM (Particulate Matter) by lowering the combustion temperature due to spontaneous ignitions at multiple sites in a very lean combustible mixture. However, it is difficult to make a diesel-fuelled HCCI possible because of a poor vaporability of the fuel. To resolve this problem, the two-stage injection strategy was introduced to promote the ignition of the extremely early injected fuel. The compression ratio and air-fuel ratio were found to affect not only the ignition, but also control the combustion phase without a need for the intake-heating or EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation). The ignition timing could be controlled even at a higher compression ratio with increased IMEP (Indicated Mean Effective Pressure). The NOx (Nitrogen Oxides) emission level could be reduced by more than 90 % compared with that in a conventional DI (Direct Injection) diesel combustion mode, but the increase of PM and HC (Hydrocarbon) emissions due to over-penetration of spray still needs to be resolved.

  • Performance of DI diesel engine with high fuel injection method is directly related to the emission characteristics and fuel consumption. At present, diesel injection system with piezo element is replacing conventional solenoid type due to their faster electro-mechanical properties. In this study, it was investigated the sensitivity characteristics regarding internal hydraulic modeling based on the AMESim environment of piezo-driven injector The analytic parameter for this study defined such as In/Out orifice, injection hole's diameter and driven voltage on piezo stack. As the results, it was shown that these parameter influence on a fast response characteristics of piezo-driven injector. Also we found fuel pressure recovery time is faster about 0.1 ms due to larger IN orifice diameter. And larger OUT orifice diameter occurs maximum pressure drop with faster its timing of about 0.2 ms.

  • Performance of DI diesel engine with high fuel injection method is directly related to its emission characteristics and fuel consumption. In this study, numerical model of 3rd generation piezo-driven injector was designed to analyze the hydraulic performance. Also the injection response characteristics was investigated by using the AMESim simulation code. From this study, it was shown that 3rd generation piezo-driven injector had a faster response and had better control capability due to its hydraulic bypass-circuit that has potential to higher hydraulic characteristics and improved accuracy of injected fuel quantity.

디젤엔진에서 노즐 홀 형상효과의 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study of the Effects of Nozzle Hole Geometry for di Diesel Engine)

  • Spray tip penetration and spray angle for one main injection were measured at the atmospheric condition with the fuel injection pressure of 270 bar and 540 bar. It investigates an effect of different nozzle hole geometry of conventional cylindrical one and those of elliptical ones. Injection period represented by injector pulse drive was fixed at 1ms. From the result of this study, it is shown that spray tip penetration becomes shorter and spray angle becomes wider with the elliptical nozzle hole geometry due to fast break-up of a fuel liquid column.

커먼레일 연료분사 시스템을 장착한 2.9 리터급 경량 DME 트럭의 연구 및 개발 (Research and Development of a 2.9 Liter Light-duty DME Truck Using Common Rail Fuel Injection Systems)

  • In this study, the trucks(2.9-liter) have been developed to use DME as fuel, and performance test of the vehicle's DME engine, power, emissions, fuel economy and vehicle aspects was conducted. For experiments, the fuel system(common-rail injectors and high-pressure pump included) and the engine control logic was developed, and ECU mapping was performed. As a result, the rail pressure from 40MPa to approximately 65% increase compared to the base injector has been confirmed that. Also, the pump discharge flow is 15.5 kg/h when the fuel rail pressure is 400rpm(40MPa), and the pump discharge flow is 92.1 kg/h when the fuel rail pressure is 2,000rpm(40MPa). The maximum value of full-load torque capability is 25.5 kgfm(based on 2,000 rpm), and more than 90% compared to the level of the diesel engine were obtained. The DME vehicle was developed in this study, 120 km/h can drive to the stable, and calculated in accordance with the carbon-balance method of fuel consumptions is 5.7 km/L.

  • 최근 디젤엔진에서 엔진성능향상 및 배출가스저감을 위해 저압 EGR시스템에 대하여 연구개발이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 저압 EGR시스템은 EGR율에 따라 과급압력이 영향을 받지 않기 때문에 PM을 최소 화하면서 $NO_x$를 저감할 수 있는 장점을 갖고 있다. 본 연구에서는 2.0L급 고속직분사방식의 엔진에서 출력 및 연비저하로 EGR적용이 어려운 엔진회전수 2000 rpm, BMEP 1.0 MPa, 과급압력 181.3 kPa인 중부하 운전영역에서 서로 다른 EGR시스템에 따른 엔진성능 및 배출가스 특성을 실험적으로 연구하였다. 그 결과로서 기존의 고압 EGR시스템 또는 배압조절밸브를 사용하는 저압 EGR시스템에 비하여 ETC를 적용한 저압 EGR시스템이 $NO_x$ 배출특성은 큰 차이가 없는 반면에, 연비 및 열효율이 향상되고 PM 저감에 연소효과를 나타내고 있음을 확인하였다.
