Analysis of Multi-Differential GNSS Positioning Accuracy in Various Signal Reception Environments

  • This study analyzed positioning accuracy of the multi-differential global navigation satellite system (DGNSS) algorithm that integrated GPS, GLONASS, and BDS. Prior to the analysis, four sites of which satellite observation environment was different were selected, and satellite observation environments for each site were analyzed. The analysis results of the algorithm performance at each of the survey points showed that high positioning performance was obtained by using DGPS only without integration of satellite navigation systems in the open sky environment but the positioning performance of multi-DGNSS became higher as the satellite observation environments degraded. The comparison results of improved positioning performance of the multi-DGNSS at the poor reception environment compared to differential global positioning system (DGPS) positioning results showed that horizontal accuracy was improved by 78% and vertical accuracy was improved by 65% approximately.

Antenna Radiation Efficiency of the Korean NDGPS Based on Radiation Power Measurements

  • The differential global positioning system (DGPS) transmits a GPS enhancement signal using a top-loaded monopole antenna in the medium frequency range. The top-loaded antenna in the medium frequency band can attain a radiation efficiency on the order of 10%. The antenna ground plane characteristics affect the antenna radiation efficiency. To improve the radiation efficiency, it is necessary to install the antenna on a ground plane with large enough physical dimensions and good conductivity. The antenna radiation efficiency is a primary factor in determining the DGPS service area. The service area of the DGPS using a medium frequency band is dominantly affected by the antenna radiation efficiency. To determine antenna radiation efficiencies accurately, the antenna radiation efficiencies of DGPS are deduced from the propagation power in this paper. Based on the deduced antenna radiation efficiencies, the service area for the Korean nationwide-DGPS is analyzed and evaluated.

  • 최근에 GPS가 차량항법시스템으로 큰 역할을 해왔지만, 가로수와 고층빌딩 등이 산재한 도심지에서는 가시위성의 수의 제한으로 연속적으로 정확하게 차량의 동적위치를 결정할 수 없는 실정이다. 이런 GPS의 단점을 보완하기 위해 1996년 완전히 가동된 러시아의 위성항법시스템인 GLONASS를 도입하여 GPS의 보조항법시스템으로 사용하고자 하는 연구가 활발하다. 그래서 본 연구에서는 Real-time code differential positioning 기법으로 차량의 동적위치를 결정하여, Real-time DGG(DGPS/DGLONASS)가 차분측위해의 획득율과 수평위치 정밀도저하율(HDOP ; Horizontal Dilution of Precision)에서 Real-time DGPS보다 훨씬 우수한 값을 얻었으며, 이를 통해 GPS와 GLONASS의 결합이 정확한 차량의 동적위치결정에 기여하고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • A fuzzy logic controller(FLC) was developed for the autonomous travel of speedsprayer in an orchard. The autonomous travel with the FLC was graphically simulated under the conditions of an ordinary standard orchard. Differential global positioning system(DGPS) was used to find the direction of running and four ultrasonic sensors were used to detect obstacles during the running. The simulation results showed that the speedsprayer, by the FLC combined with DGPS and the ultrasonic sensors. could overcome the turning problem at comers which could not be solved with such a system as machine vision and might be operated autonomously.

Measurement and Analysis of the Korean NDGPS Radiation Spectrum

  • The Korean nationwide differential global positioning system (NDGPS) reference station transmits a global positioning system (GPS) enhancement signal using minimum shift keying modulation with a 200 bps data rate. The ocean-based DGPS covers the service area of 100 NM with 300 W output power; on the other hand, the land-based DGPS transmits the output power of 500 W, which covers the service area of 100 km. The DGPS reference stations with high output power can radiate spurious signals, which may act as interference sources affecting the other DGPS reference stations or the wireless ground stations that utilize the medium frequency band. In this paper, the radiation spectrums of the DGPS reference stations are measured and analyzed in the spurious domain. The DGPS radiation spectrums are evaluated from the perspective of the interference effect.

  • GPS(Global Positioning System) surveying is an effective method using satellite measurement system and can be applied to construction of digital map of irrigation canal networks. In this study, GPS surveying method for irrigation structures was developed. A selected main canal of an irrigation district were surveyed by GPS. The obtained surveying results were corrected by post-processed DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) and imported to GIS for the digital map construction.

실외 도로 환경에서의 자율주행 로봇 개발 (Development of Autonomous Navigation Robot in Outdoor Road Environments)

  • This paper discusses an autonomous navigation system for urban environments. For the localization of the robot, EKF (Extended Kalman Filter) algorithm is used with odometry, angle sensor, and DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) measurement. Especially in an urban environment, DGPS is often blocked by buildings and trees and the resulting inaccurate positioning prevents the robot from safe and reliable navigation. In addition to the global information from DGPS, the local information of the curb on the roadway is used to track a route when the global DGPS information is inaccurate. For this purpose, curb detection algorithm is developed and implemented in the developed navigation algorithm. Four different types of navigation strategies are developed and they are switched to adapt to different localization conditions according to the availability of DGPS and the existence of the curbs on the roadway. The experimental results show that the designed switching strategy improves the navigation performance adapting to the environment conditions.

A Maritime DGPS Reference Station Configuration Proposal for Operation Improvement

  • A maritime Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) reference station broadcasts correction information to users having a DGPS receiver so that the navigation performance can be improved. A maritime DGPS reference station consists of a reference station (RS) that generates and broadcasts correction information, an integrity monitor (IM) that monitors the integrity of correction information, and a control station (CS) that controls them. A maritime DGPS reference station is continuously operated for 24 hours, and thus improvement in the ease of operation is a major element that can improve the performance of the system. In this study, a configuration of a maritime DGPS reference station that can improve the ease of operation and a relevant protocol were proposed, and an example of the implementation of the proposed system was presented.

한국형 위성기반 항법보강시스템 (Korean Satellite Based Augmentations System)

  • 지상의 인프라 못지않게 중요시 되고 있는 GNSS (global navigation satellite system) 를 위한 한국형 위성기반 보강시스템을 제안하였다. 제안된 시스템은 가장 경제적인 위성기반 보강시스템 구축을 위하여 시스템 요소로서 현재 존재하는 시스템의 사용을 적극 고려하였다. 기준시스템은 현재 운용되고 있는 DGPS (differential global positioning system) 네트워크를 최대한 활용하는 것으로 하였고, 위성은 통신해양기상위성 1호(COMS-1)을 근간으로 조사하였다. 버스 시스템은 최소한의 변경이 예상되는 반면 통신탑재체는 주요한 변화를 겪게 될 것으로 분석되었다. 지상의 주제어 센터는 새롭게 건설되어야 하지만 소프트웨어, 인력 등 센터의 필수적인 요소는 DGPS네트워크의 운용 경험을 통하여 쉽게 확보될 수 있으리라 판단된다 .

  • 오늘날 자동차 네비게이션이나 측량 장치 등 정밀한 위치 정보가 5필요한 곳에 GPS(Global Positioning System) 수신기가 널리 사용되고있다. 그러나 용도에 따라 사용되는 GPS 수신기의 종류와 가격, 그리고 GPS 수신기가 가지는 오차율은 천차만별이다. 일반적인 GPS수신기는 수신율과 기상상태에 따라 다르기는 하지만, 대략 최대 30m까지의 오차범위를 가진다. 그에 비해 RTK(Real-Time Kinematic)와 DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System)장비는 높은 정확성을 가지는 반면 가격 부담으로 인해 일반인이 쉽게 이용할 수가 없는 단점을 가지고 있으며 장비들의 크기가 커서 휴대성도 떨어진다. 따라서 일반인들이 정밀 위치 정보를 사용하기 위해서는 낮은 가격, 휴대의 편리성을 갖추는 것이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 DGPS 방식을 응용하여 일반 GPS 수신기보다 높은 정확도를 가지는 위치 정보를 제공하면서 PDA와 같은 보편화된 휴대 장비에서 사용 가능한 시스템을 제공하여 사용자 편리성을 증대시키는 방안을 제시한다.
