  • Holographic optical elements for polarization separation (HPS) are fabricated in a dichromated gelatin(DCG) thin film of 7${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thickness. The polarization properties of HPS is characterized by measuring diffraction efficiency with several physical parameters like exposure time, incident angle and read-out polarization angles. The experimental data are compared with theoretical results based on Kogelnik's coupled wave theory, which shows good agreement. It is also found that the HPS element has a very high extinction ratio of polarization over 500:1 for S and P polarizations, respectively, with He-Ne laser wavelength. We also propose an optical switch optical interconnects by using HPS elements.

  • This paper presents a method of constructing the Linear Digital Switching Function(LDSF) over finite fields. The proposed method is as following. First of all, we extract the input/output relationship of linear characteristics for the given digital switching functions, Next, we convert the input/output relationship to Directed Cyclic Graph(DCG) using basic gates adder and coefficient multiplier that are defined by mathematical properties in finite fields. Also, we propose the new factorization method for matrix characteristics equation that represent the relationship of the input/output characteristics. The proposed method have properties of generalization and regularity. Also, the proposed method is possible to any prime number multiplication expression.

  • The Ultrasonic Interferometer Manometer(UIM) which can calibrae from1 Pa to $10^5$Pa has been developed, and its uncertainty is evaluated less than $\pm$(30ppm of pressure+12mPa). We can calibrate Capacitance Diaphragm Gauge(DCG) used as a transfer standard gauge in the low vacuum field. TheUIM enables to maintain the measurement traceability for industries. In order to improve the UIM's accracy, we will perform the international intercomparison withother national standards laboratories.

  • Geometries for a number of representative ${\beta}$ -lactam antibiotics (penams, cephems and monobactams) have been calculated by computer graphics/molecular mechanics energy minimization procedures using both MM2 and AMBER force fields. The calculated geometries have been found in reasonable agreement with the geometries reported in the X-ray crystal structures, especially in terms of the pyramidal character of the amide nitrogen in the ${\beta}$-lactam ring and the Cohen distance. Based on these calculations, it is suggested that the nitrogen atom in the monobactams may also have pyramidal geometries in the biologically active conformations.

  • This study proposes a Korean aut.omatic abstracting system in microbiology by applying Case Grammar, Concept Dependency Grammar, and Unification-Based Grammar(PATR- I[. DCG). The sample abstracts are analyzesd to clarify the ideal structure of abstract-a purpose sentence as first sentcnce, 2-3 method and result sentences as middle sentences, and a conclusion sentence as last sentences. To extract and refine the representative sentences constructing an automated abstract requires tht. rules giving the role features to nouns. And t.he rules rearranging the extracted sentences and the rules generating the abstract sentences arc also required. Evaluat.ing the effic~ency of this system. the method used in this automatic abstracting system needs thc more precise role features and the rules of sentence generation to reach the level of the author abstracts.

  • As the use of 3DCAD data became widespread in designing products in manufacturing, attempts have been made to shorten lead time and reduce cost of production preparation utilizing 3DCAD data for launching assembly lines. In order to create assembly plans not only efficient but easy for operators to operate ('easy-to-operate'), this study presents approaches, methods, and systems for creating 3DCGAs (3 Dimensional Computer Graphic Animations) which automatically utilize a prototype-free production preparation methodology. Characteristics of this study include that it proposes the methodology for creating assembly operation 3DCGAs automatically, for all the possible assembly operations corresponding each of the possible assembly sequences first. Using the created 3DCGAs, the study next considers assembly methods by evaluating how easy or 'operator friendly' they are in implementing, and devises tools or jigs to be used, and plans efficient assembly line organization. The concept of the methodology was formed by focusing on the value-adding assembly steps at which parts turn into products directly. The study also validates the effectiveness of the presented methodology by employing the methods used in actual production preparation process in businesses, and proves that an efficient assembly line can be organized in a shorter period of time utilizing the developed system and by preparing easy-to-operate and efficient plans in 3DCGAs at the design stage.

  • In this paper, we present VAE-based recommendation using online behavior log and purchase history to overcome data sparsity and cold start. To generate a variable for customers' purchase history, embedding and dimensionality reduction are applied to the customers' purchase history. Also, Variational Autoencoders are applied to online behavior and purchase history. A total number of 12 variables are used, and nDCG is chosen for performance evaluation. Our experimental results showed that the proposed VAE-based recommendation outperforms SVD-based recommendation. Also, the generated purchase history variable improves the recommendation performance.

  • In recent years, 3D printers have become popular as a means of outputting geometries designed on CAD or 3D graphics systems. However, the complex user interfaces of standard 3D software can make it difficult for ordinary consumers to design their own objects. Furthermore, models designed on 3D graphics software often have geometrical problems that make them impossible to output on a 3D printer. We propose a novel AR (augmented reality) 3D modeling system with an air-spray like interface. We also propose a new data structure (octet voxel) for representing designed models in such a way that the model is guaranteed to be a complete solid. The target shape is based on a regular polyhedron, and the octet voxel representation is suitable for designing geometrical objects having the same symmetries as the base regular polyhedron. Finally, we conducted a user test and confirmed that users can intuitively design their own ornaments in a short time with a simple user interface.
