In this paper, I have proposed that the 1st and 2nd AC-DC transformation methods using multi-level pulsating currents and selection switches. Through making the rectified voltage of the proposed AC-DC translation which is similar to reference voltage by selecting from multi-level pulsating currents, the proposed translation has dramatically reduced the ripple voltage. I have compared the performance of the DC voltage, the ripple voltage and the peak to peak voltage of the proposed method with the conventional method. The simulation results show that the proposed 2nd method has the better performance than the 1st method in the point of average DC voltage drop and peak to peak voltage increase.
This paper proposes that each converter supplies the power using the proposed droop control for the parallel operation of the converters. The proposed method is easy to increase the power as parallel system in DC distribution. By improving conventional droop-control method used in AC grid newly, a droop controller is designed to apply droop control in DC grid. And the control method of the proposed droop controller is explained particularly. In this paper, by applying the proposed control method to DC distribution system, propriety is verified through the simulation and the experiment.
This paper deals with novel soft-switching method for a bidirectional DC-DC converter in battery charging and discharging system. The proposed soft-switching method provides ZVS and ZCS at turn-on, and ZVS at turn-off of the switch in both charging and discharging operation modes. The soft switching condition can be obtained in wide load range, and provide low switching loss as well as low voltage spike at turn-off of the switch. Proposed method is analyzed in charging and discharging mode. Simulation and experimental results validate the usefulness of the proposed soft-switching method.
In this paper, MPPT(maximum power point tracking) control method of the seaflow generation system using DC-DC converters is proposed. This system consists of a variable speed seaflow generation system with permanent magnet synchronous generator, diode rectifier and DC-DC converter. In this proposed seaflow generation system, diode rectifier and DC-DC converter use for converting AC to DC and maximum power generation control, respectively. Advantages of MPPT control method presented in this paper don’t need to use the characteristic of the seaflow turbine at various seaflow speed and measure the seaflow speed and the rotating speed of seaflow turbine. Therefore, the proposed system has the characteristics of lower cost, lower complexity and higher efficiency. The effectiveness of algorithm is simulated and confirmed through Matlab Simulink.
Power exchanges between the grid and the battery through a bidirectional DC-DC converter are essential for DC microgrid systems. In general, the battery is charged when the grid is connected, and the system is powered by the battery when the grid is disconnected. In this mode transition, the saturation of the voltage controller slows down output response and produces large transient errors in DC link voltage. To solve this problem, a novel anti-windup design is proposed to improve anti-windup performance further. The proposed method stabilizes DC bus voltage through a wider range of battery voltage with faster transition compared with that of conventional methods. The proposed method is verified through an experimental setup composed of a 125 W laboratory-scale DC microgrid system.

This paper deals with a parameter estimation of the DC-DC converter system for its diagnosis. Especially, we present the results of parameter estimation for the DC-DC converter model by the system identification method. The parameter estimation for the DC-DC converter system aims at the diagnosis of its operating status. For the operating status diagnosis of the DC-DC converter system, we assume that the DC-DC converter system is an equivalent model of the Buck converter and estimate the main parameter for on-line diagnosis. In addition, for verification of an estimated parameter, we compare a bode plot of the estimated system transfer function and measurement results of the HP4194 instrument. It is a control system analyzer for system transfer function measurement. Our results confirm that the main parameter for diagnosis of the DC-DC converter system can be estimated by the system identification method and that the aging status of the system can be predicted by these results on operating status.
Recently, DC distribution systems become hot issues since DC type loads increase rapidly according to the expansion of IT equipment such as computers, servers, and digital devices; DC type loads will cover 50% for all electricity loads in 2020 which was mere 10% in 2000. DC distribution systems are also accelerated by the expansion of renewable power systems since they are easy to be interfaced with DC grids rather than AC grids. However, removing the fault current in DC grids is comparably difficult since the current in DC grids has non zero-crossing point like in AC grids. Thus, developing dedicated DC circuit breakers for DC grids is necessary to get safety for human and electrical facilities. Magnet arc extinguishing method is proper to small size DC circuit breakers. However, simple Magnet arc extinguishing method is not enough to break inductive fault currents. This paper proposed a novel DC circuit breaker against inductive fault current defined by IEEE C37.14-2004 Standard for Low-Voltage DC Power Circuit Breakers Used in Enclosures. The performance of the proposed DC circuit breaker was verified by an experimental circuit breaker test system built in this research.
In this paper we treat the application of fault detection method in DC motor having both model mismatch and noise problems. A fault detection method presented by Kwon et al. (1994) for SISO systems has been here experimented. The model mismatch includes here linearization error as well as undermodelling. Comparisons are made with the real plant, DC motor. The experimental result of robust fault detection method is shown to have good performance via with the alternative fault detection method which do not account noise.
A general method to measure the inverter DC bus capacitor current is described. It is an indirect estimated method. By measuring the input and out voltage and current can calculate DC bus capacitor current. This paper will develope the theory that describes the indirect method. It will discuss and verify the feasibility of this approach through the use of the PSIM. Using SPWM control method will be simulated and compared.
