In this study, a galvanic stimulator providing bipolar mode controlled by a PIC(peripheral interface controller) was constructed to evaluate vestibular function The maximum load and maximum current intensity of the constant current source were 3$k\Omega$ and 5mA. respectively. and it could Produce DC, sine wavers. or Pulse waves. Eve movements of 20 normal subjects by galvanic stimulation were analyzed using a commercial videooculogragh. During stimulating with DC for 30 sec. we recorded the response of eye movement with current intensity of 0.75. 1 2, and 3 mA. Nystagmus occurred to all the subjects when the galvanic stimulus intensity was larger than 2 mA. Average SPV(slow Phase eye movement velocity) and the number of nystagmus increased from 7.1 to 4.8 deg/sec and from 17 to 48, respectively, when the stimulus current increased from 0.75 to 3 mA. All the fast eye movement of the nystagmus were the direction of the negative electrode. The asymmetry which means the difference between right- and left-eye movements decreased when the stimulus intensity increased. It is expected that this study would be useful in evaluating vestibular function and in studying basic Physiology mechanism of vestibular ocular reflex by galvanic stimulus .
In order to allow the user to efficiently browse, select, and retrieve a desired video part without having to deal directly with GBytes of compressed data, classification of shot motion characteristic has to be carried out as a preparation for such user interaction. The organization of video information for video database requires segmentation of a video into its constituent shots and their subsequent characterization in terms of content and camera movement in shot. In order to classify shot motion, it is a conventional way to use element of motion vector. However, there is a limit to estimate global camera motion because the way that uses motion vectors only represents local movement. For shot classification in terms of motion information, we propose a new scheme consisting of partial decoding of INTRA pictures and comparing the x, y displacement vector curve between the decoded I-frame and next P-frame in compressed video data.

The H.264/AVC video coding standard provides higher coding efnciency compared to the conventional MPEG-2 standard. Since a lot of videos have been encoded using MPEG-2, the format conversion from MPEG-2 to H.264 is essential. In this paper, we propose an efficient method for the conversion of DCT coefficients to H.264/AVC transform coefficients. This conversion is essential, since $8{\times}8$ DCT and $4{\times}4$ integer transform are used in MPEG-2 and H.264/AVC, respectively. The mathematical analysis and computer simulation show that the computational complexity of the proposed algorithm is reduced compared to the conventional algorithm, while the loss caused by the conversion is negligible.
Dark band artifacts are often observed in angiograms of arteries obtained by 2D time-of-flight (TOF) angiography with saturation of veins by presaturation RF pulses. At some arteries the arterial blood velocity varies in a triphasic pattern during a cardiac cycle. The arterial blood, that is saturated by presaturation RF pulses in the saturation band, can flow back into the imaging slice during the retrograde flow phase of the triphasic variation. When such saturated retrograde flow occurs during the acquisition of the central part of the K space, a signal void can result in base images and consequently dark band artifacts can appear in angiograms. This phenomenon is experimentally demonstrated by varying the gap between the imaging slice and the saturation band. Furthermore, a new pulse sequence is proposed to eliminate the dark band artifacts by changing the profile of the saturation band front a rectangle to a ramp.
As a basic research for the development of the automatic grading and sorting system for dried oak mushrooms, the device to acquire both cap and gill side images of mushroom has been developed and neural network based side recognition and quality grading has been proposed via inputting both side images. 20 quality grades have been selected considering the requirement of grade classifications imposed by the mushroom company. Developed DC motor driven‘V’type reversing device for the image acquisition of both side images of mushroom showed more than 95% success. Most error was caused by very small size mushrooms with a radius of around 1cm. However, it required a further research to reduce the reversing time. Grading and side recognition were performed via inputting normalized size factors and average gray levels of $8{\times}8$ grids converted from the raw images of both surfaces to the multi-layer back propagation(BP) network. Accuracy of the grading showed about 88.5% and the total grading time including reversing operation was around 2 seconds.

In this thesis, digital in-line holographic microscopy has been implemented with enhanced phase shifting technique. It was demonstrated that the zero-order diffraction noise and the twin image can be eliminated by phase-shifting interferometry very effectively. Also the experimental and numerical reconstruction has been incorporated into one set-up operating in real time. Experimental results and the analysis of the phase map indicate that the proposed system can be very useful for the measurement of microscopic objects and 3-D microscopy.
In this paper we have applied phase conjugated holographyto DHM (digital holography microscopy) to remove phase aberration and noise. Generally, digital holographyincludes the phase information of the object, phase aberration terms introduced by the measurement system and noise terms (DC term and twin images). These aberrations and noise terms decrease the quality of the reconstructed phase image. We could obtain a conjugated hologram which includes only phase information of object. Experimentally we show that distortion of image and aberration of phase in a measurement system are removed using the conjugation hologram.
The paper introduces a development result for displacement measurement system of multiple moving objects based on image processing technique. The image processing method adopts inertia moment theory for obtaining the centroid of the targets and basic processing algorithms of gray, binary, closing, labeling and etc. To get precise displacement measurement in spite of multiple moving targets, a CCD camera with zoom is used and the position of camera is changed by a pan/tilt system. The fiducial marks on the fixed positions are used as the sensing points for the image processing to recognize the position errors in directions of X -Y coordinates. The precise alignment device is pan /tilt of X - Y type and the pan/tilt is controlled by DC servomotors which are driven by 80c196kc microprocessor based controller. The centers of the fiducial marks are obtained by a inertia moment method. By applying the developed precise position control system for multiple targets, the displacement of multiple moving targets are detected automatically and are stored in the database system in a real time. By using database system and internet, displacement data can be confirmed at a great distance and analyzed. The developed system shows the effectiveness such that it realizes the precision about 0.12mm in the position control of X -Y coordinates.
Matured dendritic cells (DCs) begin migration with their release from the bone marrow (BM) into the blood and subsequent traffic into peripheral lymphoid and non-lymphoid tissues. Throughout this long movement, migrating DCs must apply specialized skills to reach their target destination. Non-invasive in vivo cell-tracking techniques are necessary to advance immune cell-based therapies. In this study, we used a DiD cell-tracking solution for in vivo dendritic cell tracking in naive mice. We tracked DiD (non-invasive fluorescence dye)-labeled mature dendritic cells using the Near Infrared (NIR) imaging system in normal mice. We examined the immunophenotype of DiD-labeled cells compared with non-labelled mature DCs, and obtained time-serial images of NIR-DC trafficking after mouse footpad injection. In conclusion, we confirmed that DiD-labeled DCs migrated into the popliteal lymph node 24 h after the footpad injection. Here, these data suggested that the cell tracking system with the stable fluorescence dye DiD was useful as a cell tracking tool to advance dendritic cell-based immunotherapy.
