  • The present paper is purposeful that I compare the materialization method of the filter of UIR and SIR, then make two filters of different methods, so both are useful. The structure of the method of UIR is simple, so it is used a commercial point of view that the client gets the characteristics what he wants. However, the needs of companies when compared to the same standards, a little more cheaply in price, a little smaller in size, better performance characteristics are expected. In this regard, the method of SIR is smaller than UIR in size, but it shows the similar characteristics of UIR, so it is expected that holds a dominant position in competitive power. In this paper, based on these conditions, I compared the methods of SIR and UIR after the design and production. The standards are Insertion Loss is less than 0.8dB, Return Loss is above 20.0dB, and the Ripple is within 0.3dB. The center frequency is settled 881.5MHzband that TX Band is used by CDMA(SKT). I compared in the same conditions in Bandwidth 25.0MHz.

  • In this paper, the performance of wideband CDMA system with smart antenna is analyzed for different bandwidth(1.25MHz, 2.5MHz, 5MHz) and angular spread at base station. In detail, the spatio-temporal wideband multipath vector channel model is proposed. And the received signals in 2D-RAKE receiver are rigorously analyzed in proposed vector channel model. We consider the effect of correlation between any two elements of antenna array. Several multipahts within one chip are distinguished into each one and the strongest signal is selected as a desired one. As a result, the performance of W-CDMA system with smart antenna in spatio-temporal wideband vector channel has been improved in proportion to the increase of angular spread and bandwidth.

  • We designed and fabricated, in this paper, a quintuple band folded monopole antenna for the mobile phone handset that can be provided multiple mobile services. Antenna design was based on the compensation of series antenna capacitance with the expansion of physical antenna length by the proper folding structure. It's shown that this antenna satisfies quintuple service band as CDMA/GSM/DCS/USPCS/WCDMA, and is more cost competitive than conventional metal plate pressing method by applying on flexible PCB technology. Measured maximum gain on quintuple band were $-2.51{\sim}+1.82 dBi$, and radiation patterns were also shown nearly omnidirectional on all bands.

  • We have analyzed optical matched filters considering the third order signals in the optical code division multiple access (CDMA) system based on optical series coupler access encoder (SCAE) and series coupler access decoder (SCAD). In previous studies, the performance evaluation of the optical CDMA system using SCAE and SCAD was not sufficiently accurate because they analyzed system performance only considering the first order signals. Since optical SCAE and SCAD intrinsically have high order signals of various patterns as the number of coupler increases, they change auto- and cross-correlation intensities. Thus, it is necessary to investigate properties of the third order signals so that we may analyze the exact performance of system. In this paper, we mathematically interpret the optical signals up to the third order, and analyzed the effects of th third order signals on auto- and cross-correlation intensities. In result, as ${\alpha}$(coupling coefficient) value increases, the intensity of the third order signals increases. It is found that the peak to side-lobe ratio considering the third order signals is degraded by 3.75 dB at N(coupler number)=5 and ${\alpha}$=0.5. Also if threshold value in receiver is set by main-lobe peak of the first order signals, it is found that the number of users in an optical CDMA system is limited because the intensity peak of side-lobes is raised by the third order signals.

  • This paper proposes a compression technique of image data, a variable length PN code and channel models which are required in CDMA communication system. It also analyzes their performances. Original images is compressed by 2-D DCT and its coefficients are quantized by optimal quantizer at compression rate 0.84bit/pel. Channel model 1 and 2 which are composed of 5 and 4 channels respectively are employed to be used in CDMA. Such a situation forces us to empoly variable length PN code, such as Chebyshev map for spread spectrum system. When average PN code length of model 1 and 2 is 44.4 and 26.7 chips respectively, the received image through these models under Gaussian noise with variance 1.75 is visually of the same quality as the transmitting image. Thus, the model 2 appears to be better in channel efficiency, comparing with channel model 1 and channel model which uses fixed length PN code.

  • This paper presents a power detector circuit which monitors the transmitting power for the application in CDMA cell phones. The proposed power detector are composed of coupler for coupling output power and detector fur monitoring output power. The designed coupler has low loss characteristic because it adopts the stripline structure which consists of two ground planes at both sides of signal plane. The design frequency is 824-849MHz which is the Tx band fur CDMA mobile terminal, and the coupling factor of the stripline coupler is -20dB. A schottky barrier diode is adopted for detector design because of its high speed operation with minimized loss. The required impedance matching is performed to improve the linearity and sensitivity of output voltage at relatively low detector input level where the nonlinear characteristic of diode exists. The package parasitics as well as intrinsic diode model are considered for simulation of the detector. The predicted performances agree well with the measured results.

  • The average bit error rate of wideband CDMA in forward link is evaluated for frequency and timing errors in multipath Rayleigh fading channel. The channel BER is evaluated analytically and information BER is investigated with simulation. The performance degradation due to the code/frequency synchronization errors was obtained through simulation for particular two coding schemes - convolutional codes and turbo codes. The results show 1dB degradation due to Tc/4 timing error and 0.5dB degradation due to 50Hz frequency error, for both coding schemes.

  • In this paper, the performance of 05-CDMA system with smart antenna is analyzed for different bandwidths (1.25MHz, 5MHz) and different channel environments (rural, urban). For the analysis of smart antenna system, the vector channel having the spatio-temporal correlation is modeled as a time-variant linear filter in time, and each multipath is assumed as a reflective wave from only one direction (only one cluster) in space. Several multipaths within one chip are distinguished into each one and the strongest signal is selected. DS-CDMA system with smart antenna using wider bandwidth present better performance than that using narrow bandwidth. It is shown that the smart antenna is more effective in urban area when using 2D-RAKE receiver.
