  • Objective : In the pain control, Bee Venom Acupuncture therapy is highly effective but cause allergic side-effects frequently. This study was performed to compare Bee Venom(BV) with BV Partner(BVP) in decreasing side-effects of BV. Methods : BV partner(BVP) which dilutes the Morus bombycis Koiduzumi Herbal Acupuncture was developed to decrease the side effects of the Bee Venom. We used D.I.T.I. to verify the effectiveness of BVP in decreasing side-effect of BV. We injected BV to Group I (n=18) at 4 points of body [Fengmen(風門 : B12), Feishu(肺兪 : B13), Fufen(附分 : B41), Pohu(魄戶 : B42)], and BVP to group II (N=18) at the same points. We observed the chages of temperature at beginning, 5 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day, 2days and 7days after injection. Results : The following results were obtained; 1. The difference of temperature had been continued until 2days in BV group, but 1day in BVP group. 2. The difference of temperature was significantly greater than time at 1hour in BV and at 5 minutes in BVP. 3. Other side-effects(the local pain, redness, angioedema and pruritus) were less appeared in BVP than BV group, too.

  • This study was done to observe the effect on the local thermal changes of herbal acupuncture on D.I.T.I.. The objects of this study are as follows; If there are remarkable local thermal changes between pre and post herbal acupuncture therapy on D.I.T.I.or not. If there are those, We examine how long that changes are maintained, what the adequate interval is on herbal acupuncture therapy, and what the reaction in a .local or whole body are on that therapy Materials and Methods : To study the local thermal changes in herbal acupuncture therapy, D.I.T.I. was used. Determination of this analysis periods are pre and post-therapy(1 hour, 24hours, 48hours and 7days later). The study group was divided into three groups(comprised 23 students in oriental medical college, Woosuk University). One was NS(Normal Saline) group, another was CF(CARTHAMI SEMEN) group and the other was BU(FEL URSI + BENZOAR BOVIS) group. The Herbal Acupunture solution was injected 0.2ml divide into 0.05ml at tile P'ungmun(B12), P'yesu(B13), Pubun(B41), Paek'o(B42) 4 points. Then, in order to analyze the clinical form, we have observed response of 23 students whenever we checked the thermal changes of their after perfoming Results : The results were obtained as follows ; 1. There is no significant dermatothermal changes at NS group and CF group, but BU group have remarkable changes in 24, 48, 72 hours. 2. From post-therapy 1 hour to 48 hours, there is a significant change (P<0.01) at NS-BU group and CF-BU group, But there is none 7 days later. 3. In the analysis of whole or local body reaction, local pain appears at NS group(22%), CF group(11%), BU group(91%), discomfort reaction appears at CF group(14%), BU group(30%). BU groilp has feel vertigo(13%), drowsy (70%) and pain in action(52%). 4. In the analysis of the duration of physic진 reaction, BU group is most lately maintained. Conclusions : These results suggest that in the physical reaction of herbal acupuncture solutions, BU solution is more sensitive than CF solution or NS.

  • Objective : In the pain control, BU herbal acupuncture is highly effective but causes many phys ical reactions. This study was done to compare BU with BU mixed Hwangryunhaedoktang(HHT, 黃連解毒湯) herbal acupucture in decreasing physical reactions of BU. Methods : We injected BU Group(N=12) and BU mixed HHT Group(N=12) at four points of Fenmen(B12), Feishu(B13), Fufen(B41) and Pohu(B42). Then we observe the local thermal changes and the physical reactions at beginning, 1hour and 24 hours after administering herbal acupuncture through the D.I.T.I. and survey. Results : The following results were obtained; 1. The significant dermatothermal difference had been checked 1hour and 24hours in BU group, but 1hour in Bu mixed HHT. 2. In BU group, the difference of temperature had been continued highly until 24hours. But in BU mixed group, the difference of temperature had been continued highly until 1 hour but decreased nearly equal to beginning stage until 24hours. 3. The symptoms which appear following the herbal acupuncture administration were less appeared in BU mixed HHT than BU group.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to report the patient with peripheral neuropathy, who improved by Oriental medical treatment. Methods : The patient was managed by acupuncture, moxibustion, physical treatment and herbal medicine. We checked digital infrared thermographic imaging(D.I.T.I.), electromyography(E.M.G.), nerve conduction velocity(N.C.V.), deep tendon reflex(D.T.R.), sensory recover area and range of motion(R.O.M.) of knee & ankle. Results : After 6 week treatment, clinical sign(the movement and sense of leg) of improvement was appeared. Also E.M.G., N.C.V., D.T.R. and D.I.T.I. was recovered to nearly normal range. Conclusion : The results suggest that combination of acupunture, moxibustion and herbal medicine is good method for treatment of peripheral neuropathy. But further studies may be required to concretely prove the effectiveness of this methods for treating peripheral neuropathy.
