  • This paper deals with back-EMF characteristic comparison of Vertical and Halbach array double-sided linear generator with coreless type. On the basis of a magnetic vector potential and Maxwell's equations, governing equations are obtained, and magnetic modeling is predicting characteristic analysis by using the Fourier series expansion. And then, we obtained magnetic field solutions and calculated resistance, back-EMF constant. The analytical results used by 2-D cylindrical coordinate system. The analytical method used in this paper is confirmed by comparing with finite element analysis results.

원형으로 굽은 광도파로의 low bending loss를 위한 trench 구조설계: 원통좌표계 FD-BPM (A Trench Structure for Low Bending Loss of Bent Optical Waveguides)

  • 원통좌표계에서의 FD-BPM(finite difference-beam propagation method)을 이용하여 굽은 광도파로의 bending loss를 계산하였다. Bending loss를 최소화하기 위해 trench구조를 적용하였으며 다음의 세가지 측면에서 해석하였다. 1)trench구조가 없을때 곡률반경에 따른 bending loss, 2)폭과 위치가 일정한 trench구조가 있을때 곡률반경과 굴절율차에 따른 bending loss, 3)trench의 위치가 일정할 때 trench의 폭에 따른 bending loss를 계산하였다.

Compact Model of a pH Sensor with Depletion-Mode Silicon-Nanowire Field-Effect Transistor

  • A compact model of a depletion-mode silicon-nanowire (Si-NW) pH sensor is proposed. This drain current model is obtained from the Pao-Sah integral and the continuous charge-based model, which is derived by applying the parabolic potential approximation to the Poisson's equation in the cylindrical coordinate system. The threshold-voltage shift in the drain-current model is obtained by solving the nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann equation for the electrolyte. The simulation results obtained from the proposed drain-current model for the Si-NW field-effect transistor (SiNWFET) agree well with those of the three-dimensional (3D) device simulation, and those from the Si-NW pH sensor model also agree with the experimental data.

  • The objective of this work is to study various vortical structures from controlled circular jet such as trifurcating and blooming jets. The numerical simulations of flow from a circular jet are carried out at $Re_D=4300$ based on the jet-exit velocity and jet diameter using large eddy simulation with the dynamic Smagorinsky model in a cylindrical coordinate system. The excitation for the controlled jet is achieved by combining axial and helical excitations. The axial velocity controlled by blowing and suction at the jet exit has several peaks in their cycle with respect to ratio of axial to helical excitations. This active control changes the spreading angle and vortical structures in the downstream region.

  • The authors had done theoretical analysis of the vibration of rectangular elastic plates in contact with water. In this analysis, using the elliptic cylindrical coordinate system, they investigated the effects of mass density ratios, chord-length to thickness ratios, aspect ratios, boundary conditions and mode shapes on the added mass of plates. The results are reported in papers quoted as the reference [4] and [5] of this paper. In this report the results of experiments conducted to verify the above theoretical analysis are presented. It shows that numerical results derived from the theoretical analysis are generally in good agreement with the experimental results.

  • In the machine tool industry, direct drive linear motor technology is of increasing interest as a means to achieve high acceleration, and to increase reliability. This paper deals with the characteristics of tubular type linear oscillating actuator with Halbach magnet array. The magnetic field solutions are derived analytically in terms of vector potential, two dimensional cylindrical coordinate system and Maxwell's equations. Motor thrust, flux linkage, back emf are then derived. The results are shown in good conformity with those obtained from the commonly used finite element method. Test results such as thrust measurements are also given to confirm the analysis.

  • This paper deals with analytical prediction for electromagnetic characteristics of a tubular linear actuator with Halbach array using transfer relations, namely, Melcher's methodology. Using transfer relations derived in terms of magnetic vector potential and a two-dimensional (2-d) cylindrical coordinate system, this paper derives analytical solutions for magnetic vector potential due to permanent magnets (PMs) and stator winding currents. On the basis of these analytical solutions, this paper also achieves analytical solutions for the magnetic fields distribution produced by PMs, stator windings current and axial thrust. The analytical results are validated extensively by finite element (FE) analyses. In particular, test results such as thrust measurements are given to confirm the analysis. Finally, this paper estimates control parameters using analytical solutions and test results such as thrust, back-emf, inductance and resistance measurements.

  • This paper deals with tubular type linear oscillatory actuator with axially magnetized permanent magnet. The magnetic field distribution is predicted using a two-dimensional analytical solution derived in terms of magnetic vector potential and cylindrical coordinate system. Using this result, trust and flux linkage and back emf are derived. The results of predictions from the analysis are compared with corresponding finite element method.

AN AXISYMMETRIC, NONSTATIONARY BLACK HOLE MAGNETOSPHERE

  • In the earlier papers we analyzed the axisymmetric, nonstationary electrodynamics of the central black hole and a surrounding thin accretion disk in an active galactic nucleus. In this paper we analyze the axisymmetric, nonstationary electrodynamics of the black hole magnetosphere in a similar way. In the earlier papers we employed the poloidal component of the plasma velocity which is confined only to the radial direction of the cylindrical coordinate system. In this paper we employ a more general poloidal velocity and get the Grad-Shafranov equation of the force-free magnetosphere of a Kerr black hole. The equation is consistent with the previous ones and is more general in many aspects as it should be. We also show in more general approaches that the angular velocity of the magnetic field lines anchored on the accreting matter tends to become close to that of the black hole at the equatorial zone of the hole.

원통좌표시스템을 이용한 상반신 포즈 분석 (Upper-body Pose Analysis using Cylindrical Coordinate System)

  • 본 논문에서는 깊이영상에서 상반신 포즈 분석을 위하여 원통좌표시스템을 제안한다. 깊이영상에서 포즈 후보 영역을 설정하고, 포즈 후보 영역을 이용하여 카메라로부터 신체 중심점까지의 거리와 신체 특징에 따라 원통좌표계를 설정한다. 그리고 밝기값으로 표현되는 깊이 정보를 이용하여 특징벡터를 추출한다. 추출된 원통좌표계의 특징벡터는 원형의 특징공간에 표현되고 포즈 패턴으로 분류된다. 그리고 포즈 패턴들은 특징벡터들의 평균값을 이용하여 학습되고 미리 정의된 포즈 패턴들과 유클리디언 거리로 비교하여 포즈로 분류된다. 본 논문은 상반신 포즈 후보 영역에 동적인 원통 모델을 적용하여 간단한 연산을 통해 머리와 몸통, 팔을 구분할 수 있도록 효과적인 포즈 정보 추출에 목적을 두고 있다.
