In this study, we put our object to carry out adaptive modeling of cutting process in turning system, and to find out the optimal cutting conditions to maximize material removal rate under some constraints. We used a back-propagation neural network to model the cutting process adaptively and a genetic algorithm to find out optimal cutting conditions. The experimental results show that a back-propagation neural network could model the cutting process effciently, and optimized cutting conditions for maximizing the material removal rate were obtained through the adaptive process model and genetic algorithms. Therefore, the proposed approach can be applied to the real machining system.
There and two important variables in machining process control, which are feed and cutting speed. It is possible to improve the machining accuracy and the productivity by maintaining the optimal feed and cutting speed. In this work, a controller is designed to achieve on-line cutting force control based on the modeling of cutting process dynamics established through step response test. Two schemes are proposed and implemented. The first is feed control under the constant spindle speed and the second is spindle speed control under the constant feed. Finally, both are proved to work properly through simulation and experimentation.
This paper proposed on the effective cutting conditions of cage motor rotor by turning. If you want to introduce automatic manufacturing system into the cutting process of cage motor rotor, the selections of effective cutting conditions are necessary. The cutting process of cage motor rotor requires the precision and the out of roundness of cage motor rotor. The surface roughness of cutting face. it is very important factor with effect on the magnetic flux density of cage motor rotor. The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of cutting condition. upon adapting this results, we will improve the production rate in the cutting process of cage motor rotor. As a result, the selection of cutting conditions are important factors to production rate. And these are chosen by the investigations of cutting characters and surface roughness. The experimental result, showed that the increase of cutting speed caused the decrease of cutting force and the high surface integrity. The increase of feed rate and increase of depth of cut caused the increase of cutting force and surface roughness. Thus, the effective cutting conditions of cage motor rotor by turing are cutting speed 291m/min, feed rate 0.10mm/rev, depth of cut 0.05mm.
Face milling is required to study cutting process with a view of multipoint cutter. This experimental study mainly deals with the single and multi-insert cutting characteristics using coated tool. Because metal cutting of the single and multi-insert has a large relation to the improvement of productivity, the economic cutting process can be achieved by the analysis of proper metal cutting mechanism. Therefore, machining characteristics of face molling in this paper has been studied by investigating the role of different insert number which is concerned with mean cutting force, the RMS values of AE(acoustic emission) signal, tool life and surface roughness in milling SS 41 and SUS 304. The cutting force and AE signal are monitored to make an analysis of cutting process. The surface roughness of the specimens machined by inserts of different numbers is measured at different speeds, feeds and depth of cut. The width of flank wear is also observed.
In this study, a cutting force in the Ball-end milling process is calculated using Z-map. Z-map can describe any type of cutting area resulting from the previous cutting geometry and cutting condition. Cutting edge of a ball-end mill is divided into infinitesimal cutting edge elements and the position of the ele- ment is projected to the cutter plane normal to the Z axis. Also the cutting area in the cutter plane is obtained by using the Z-map. Comparing this projected position with cutting area, it can be determined whether it engages in the cutting. The cutting force can be calculated by numerical integration of cutting force acting on the engaged cutting edge elements. A series of experiments such as contouring and upward/downward ramp cutting was performed to verify the calculated cutting force.
The objective of this study is to investigate the influence of process parameters, such as power of laser, cutting speed of laser and material thickness, on the practical cutting region and the kerfwidth fer the case of cutting of CSP IN sheet using high power Nd:YAC laser in continuous wave(CW) mode. In order to obtain the practical cutting region and the relationship between process parameters on the kerfwidth, several laser cutting experiments are carried out. The effective heat input is introduced to consider the influence of power and cutting speed of laser on the kerfwidth together. From the results of experiments, the allowable cutting region and the relationship between the effective heat input and kerfwidth fur the case of cutting of CSP 1N sheet using high power CW Nd:YAG laser have been obtained to improve the dimensionalaccuracyofthecutarea.
Recent noticeable advances of CNC machine tools have considerably improved productivity and precision in manufacturing processes. However, in the respect of productivity some defects still remain because selection of machining conditions entirely depends on the experiences of programmers. Usually, machining conditions such as feed rate and spindle speed have been selected conservatively by considering the worst cases, and it has brought the loss of machining efficiency. Thus, the improvement of cutting force controller has been done to regulate cutting force constantly and to maximize feedrate simultaneously in case that machining conditions change variously. In this study, sliding mode control with boundary layer is applied to milling process for cutting force regulation and in a commercial CNC machining center data transfer between PC and PMC (programmable machine controller) of CNC machine is done using a standard interface method. And in the cutting force measurement, an indirect cutting force measuring system using current signal of AC servo is adopted in order not to use high-priced equipment like tool dynamometer. The purpose of this study is to maximize the productivity in milling process, thus its results can be applied to cases such as rough cutting process.
In-process diagnosis of the cutting state is essential for the automation of manufacturing systems. Especially when the cutting process becomes unstable it induces self-exited vibrations a frequent case of poor tool life rough surface finish damage to the workpiece and the machine tool itself and excessive down time. To ensure that the cutting process main-tains stable it is highly desirable to have the capability of real-time. To ensure that the cutting process main-tains stable it is highly desirable to have the capability of real-time monitoring and controlling chatter. This paper describes the detection method of chatter vibration using cutting force in turning process. In order to detect a chatter vibra-tion the dynamic fluctuation of radial force is analyzed since this components is sensitive to the chatter. The envelope sig-nal of radial force has been calculated by the use of FIR Hilbert transformer and it was useful to classify the chatter signal from the dynamically unstable circumstances. It was found that the mode and the mode width were closely correlated with the chatter amplitude was well. Finally back propagation(BP) neural network have been applied to the pattern recognition for the classification of chatter signal in various cutting conditions. The validity of this systed was confirmed by the experiments under the various cutting conditions.
In the semiconductor industry the memory and chip were developed to high density memory and high performance chip, so circuit design was also high integrated and the test bed was needed to be thin and fine pitch socket. LGA(Land Grid Array) IC socket with thin wall thickness was designed to satisfy this requirement. The LGA IC socket plastic part was manufacture by injection molding process, it was needed accuracy, stiffness and suit resin with high flowability. After injection molding process the side gates were needed to remove for further assembly process. ln this study, the cold press cutting process was applied to remove the gates. For design of punch and die, the cold press cutting analysis was implemented by$DEFORM-2D^{TM}$ ln consideration of the simulation results, an adequate punch and die was designed and made for the cutting unit. In order to verify the performance of cutting process, the roughness of cutting section of the part was measured and was satisfied in requirement.
