  • This paper is concerned with the surface roughness and the bending strength of ground workpiece in ZrO2 ceramic grinding. Surface roughness was measured with surface tracer and bending strength value was obtained by three-point bending test on machining center using tool dynamometer. Grinding experiments were carried out to examine the effects of grinding conditions including diamond mesh size, table speed, and depth of cut on ground surface roughness. The correlation between surface roughness and bending strength was also inspected. The experimental results indicate that the rougher surface was produced as the mesh size of diamond wheel is reduced and table speed is increased, but surface roughness is not affected by depth of cut. The values of bending strength decrease as the values of Ra, Rmax and Ku increase.

  • This paper presented a new model of virtualized CNC milling machine. The model verifies the over cut, the under cut and the surface roughness using NC file generated from CAM and cutting condition. The model uses Z-map model to verify workpiece. In this paper, the model used the velocities of x, y and z direction and obtained a center point of a hall end mill for modeling Z-map of workpiece. To investigate the performance of the model, simulation study was carried out. As the results, the model gave geometry accuracy of workpiece, the surface roughness and the chip loads in finish cutting that can predict tool chipping. The virtualized CNC machine can he used a flat end mill, a ball end mill and a rounded end mill.

  • From the experimental study of wire-cut Electric Discharge Machining of alloyed tool steel and tungsten carbide, the characteristics such as cutting speed, surface roughness has been observed and evaluated for various conditions. Cutting speed is improved as peak discharge current and wire tension become increased, and gap voltage and spark cycle decreased. Surface roughness can be better when peak discharge current and gap voltage become smaller, or spark cycle and wire tension become larger. Secondary cut is recommended to obtain high precision and good quality.

  • Cylindrical plunge grinding is widely used for final machining process of precision parts such as automobile, aircraft, measurement units. But in order to make parts which have high precision accuracy and high surface integrity, it is necessary to consider grinding characteristics due to accumulation phenomena of grinding wheel in plunge grinding process. In this study, in order to examine closely plunge grinding process, grinding power, grinding force, real depth of cut are monitored in transient state, steady state and spark out state. As the result, it is shown that grinding power and force are affected by dressing condition, depth of cut and speed ratio and that there exist threshold grinding force and it also affected by dressing condition. Also considered effects of grinding conditions on surface roughness and roundness of workpiece

  • The high-speed machining technology of difficult-to-cut material is needed to achieve the high-efficiency of die manufacturing. The high-speed machining is applied in automobile, airplane and electricityㆍelectro industry etc, because it can improve machining efficiency and productivity with high speed, high power and high rotation. In this study, high speed machinability, tool wear characteristics and its monitoring, characteristics of damaged layer, machinability of difficult-to-cut material, characteristics of a free curved surface and method of CAD/CAM system were introduced to acquire the shortening of machining time, the improvement of machining efficiency and the high quality of machined surface. Therefore, we establish the stabilization condition of difficult-to-cut material machining and present the optimal cutting condition for high-efficiency cutting.

  • This paper presents a study of tool-life equation on cut-off test by the statistical approach, referred to as response surface methodology instead of a conventional one-variable at a time method. It is the merit of response surface methodology that the test time is reduced to minimize the size and accurate analysis can be done. The reliability of such an equation can also be estimated. Two independent variables, cutting speed and feed rate, were investigated. A first order modeling equation is presented in this project. The results of this study are as follows that tool-life in cut-off operation is affected by cutting speed more than feed, and first order tool-life predicting equations are in good agreement with experimental results.

  • Currently, the aircraft industry, aircraft parts as well as airframe have been developed in producing, the aircraft parts and fuselages have been produced the product by cutting rather than forging and casting because of the residual stress and stress concentration. In this study, the aircraft is being used in many parts of aluminium alloy 2024 in wire-cut E.D.M. The selected experimental parameters are peak current, no-load voltage, off time and feed rate. It is found that cutting mountain part on surface roughness of the curve 0.3mm than 0.25mm diameter wire electrode is stable in many uniform distribution.

  • This paper provides a review of the performance for SM45C using the CNC lathe. Under the constant cutting area, the tool wear for large feed rate is more than the small feed rate, and the progress goes more rapidly as the cutting speed is increased. This is caused by the friction between the workpiece and the bite. The average cutting force increases as the feedrate increases, and decreases as the cutting speed increases. This is because the effective rake/shear angle becomes smaller as the feedrate becomes larger. The higher is the cutting speed and the aspect ratio (the ratio for depth of cut to feedrate), the lower is the cutting force and the surface roughness. Also, for the optimal selection of the cutting conditions, many experimental graphical data were obtained. That is, the cutting force, the tool life, and the surface roughness were measured and investigated as the depth of cut and the feedrate changed. And the size effect was examined as the depth of the cut varied.

  • This study deals with the laser cutting of stencil for the PCB. The most important aim of this study is to determine optimal conditions which make good-qualify stencil in Nd:YAG laser cutting. We made an experiment according to various variables (power. type of mask. gas pressure, cutting speed, and pulse width) and analyzed the cutting characteristics (surface roughness, kerf width. dross) . Each variable has optimal value for good-qualify cut edge under fixed condition. And neural network after learning experimental data with a million time iteration could predict surface roughness of cut edge under arbitrary condition approximately.
